Speaker 1 (00:01):
When you need to know she's got you. It's three
things with Tip on Good Morning.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
We're just before eight o'clock on a Friday, although it
doesn't necessarily feel like a Friday. We're going to get
to our own weather here in just a hot second.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
But first let's start off with what is.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
The biggest story, and that is, of course, the California wildfires.
This is now the fourth day in a row that
I'm reporting on it, and if you are a numbers person,
listen to some of this.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Current acreage is nineteen thousand, nine hundred and seventy eight.
There are currently five three hundred and sixteen structures that
were damaged or destroyed, and unfortunately, our thoughts and prayers
go out to the families. We do have a confirmed
two fatalities that are now due to this incident.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Tragedy doesn't even begin to explain it. In fact, I've
seen that the death toll has increased to ten. I
was chit chatting with Brian Cone. You might recognize his
voice from seven hundred Wow. He does the news over there.
He said fifty seven billion dollars in damages.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
You know when you watch a.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Superhero movie and they just completely destroy the city while
saving it at the same time, and you're like, Okay,
well we're saved, but you know, we'll rebuild.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
It's a movie that's happening, but not not like in
real life.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
In real life, it is going to take decades to
bring it California back to what it was before. And
I don't even know if it will ever go back.
Yesterday we had and by the way they had. The
fires have spread now to the hills of Calabasas, which
you know is where Will Smith lives and the Kardashians
infamously ray and again I talk about celebrities, et cetera,
(01:47):
but that's just because I know their names. There are
plenty of regular people like you and I not that
celebrities aren't regular in California that are struggling deeply right now,
saying goodbye to everything that they knew. I had said
that there were reports of somebody potentially starting these fires.
There was no validity to that at the moment, but
(02:07):
as of this morning, there is someone in custody who
had allegedly started at one of the fires. I don't
know why someone would do that, but Los Angeles has
different people than we have here in Cincy.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I remember. I actually I went to the Pacific Palisades.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
To a year and a half ago, April of twenty
twenty three, and I remember coming back and telling you
this story. Actually, that was the same time that Lindsay
Lohan was spotted roaming the streets like barefoot. LA has
different people than we have here perspective wise.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
You know, think about.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
How much of a creature of habit you and I are.
We were itching to get back to the regular routine
once the snow days wrapped up. Okay, well, imagine being
in LA and just having no access to your regular routine.
Schools are close, colleges have postponed classes until February.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Those things that we do every day, like going to
the gym and dropping your kids off at school, the
things that make us feel like.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Us are gone.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
And when I thought about that, I said, Wow, still
plenty of devastation to come.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I'm praying for my friends and family, your friends and family.
My girlfriend Hannah and I went to college with. She
evacuated Santa Monica yesterday and went up to to Joshua
Tree and I said, well, what did you take with you?
And she said, Tiff like, I don't know the things
that I thought were important in the moment. Her boyfriend
not that material things are you know, of value in
this moment, But sometimes they're like, you know, if you
(03:35):
if you've got a good sneaker collection, I can see
how that would be valuable to you. Her boyfriend has it,
works for Nike has hundreds and hundreds of shoes, And
I know those are material things, but sometimes they're just
important to you. Everyone says to save like passports and pictures,
et cetera.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
When there's more, you know, I'll keep you posted.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
All right, I'm rambling here, but let's go on to
our own weather in Cincinnati. We've got snow moving in,
so temperature is pretty bitter at the moment you came
out of the house today, probably in the twenties.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
We'll see highs in the upper twenties.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Snow is going to move in somewhere between lunch and
like four or five o'clock.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
The commute home might be a little dicey.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
This is a slow burner, a slow mover, But I
would say the bulk of the snow is going to
move in four ish to like nine pmsh and you
might see a little bit of a mess tomorrow morning,
and we could accumulate anywhere from two to four inches,
all right. And then lastly, in three things you need
to know this morning. If you're a fan of TikTok,
who isn't right? Who isn't at least brain dumping onto
TikTok and scrolling. I had mentioned last year that this
(04:37):
thing was going to get banned if it wasn't sold
from Chinese company Byte Dance to someone in the US.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
The government was like, listen, we got to get this
hand out of the hands of the Chinese.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Well, the Supreme Court is going to be hearing on
it today. As lower courts have rejected Bite Dance's arguments
that the band violated at First Amendment rights, They're like, no,
the government, it made a pretty good, pretty good meeting
of you know, if you stealing our information, We're not
gonna go with the First Amendment thing.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
But the Supreme Court will hear it today.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
It will be banned on January nineteenth, like a week
from now.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
If they don't figure this out.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I'm I don't know how this is gonna go though.
I can't imagine it would just like disappear from your phone.
I don't know how that would work when there's more
on that one, though, you know I'll keep you posted. Yes,
I also saw that the guy from Shark Tank might
buy it.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
We'll see. Can you trust to shark? Can you? You're
not in the ocean, but maybe in business.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
That is three things you need to know for January tenth,
Coming up at eight oh five. We are commercial free
and the best way to keep listening to TIF in
the mornings on iHeartRadio when you search kiss one oh
seven one.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Stay Warm,
