Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're waking up with fifth in the morning. Huh kiss
on seven one?
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Good morning on a day like today, why not just
make it all.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
About us totally? Wherey not coming up at eight thirty?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
By the way, I know there's a lot of news
happening right now, and we're going to take a little
detour for a little while.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Okay, with that, we take a little bit of a break.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I figured at eight thirty issue have a chance to
win a pair of tickets to TSO before they even
go on pre sale later on this morning.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
You'll need the keyword journal.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
There's gonna be a lot to unpack with the story,
but the baseline of it is, how soon into dating
someone or going on dates with them do you buy
them a birthday gift? Go ahead and talk back with
TIF or you can start dialing five one three seven
four nine one oh seven one. It might take me
a minute to get to you. Since we're in the
middle of chit chatting about it, why don't you tell
(00:46):
us the story a little bit?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Bobby.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Bobby's our social media manager. Hey guys, Okay, so my
birthday is this coming Monday. As I've made this whole
show about for all week anyway, there is a guy
I was seeing very very casually. Ally went on four
dates over the span of like six months. The other day,
I received a mystery package to my door and there
was no note, no return label. I opened it and
(01:10):
it was a beautiful leather journal with my name inscribed
in it because I'm a writer, a pen with my
name inscribed in it, and then a little note on
the pen case that said, like, may the words always
flow through you, Happy Birthday. It didn't take me too
long to figure out who had sent it. But we
had not really been seeing each other. We're kind of
(01:32):
not seeing each other. It was very, very casual. I
thought the gift was very sweet, and it's no shade
to him, super nice guy. But I was wondering, like,
if you were dating someone very casually, weren't really seeing
them anymore, would you send them a birthday gift?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
The answer is no, But can you just tell the
audi and our listener is really quick as to why.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
You turned him down?
Speaker 3 (01:55):
In the dating world, I'm still hung up on someone else,
you say to him. I basically told him, Look, you're
a very nice guy. I'm not in the place currently
to give you what you want. Because I think he
was taking it more seriously than I was, and he
kind of knew the whole time what the situation was,
but I did not want to lead him on. I
also didn't have like the bandwidth to even like respond
(02:18):
sometimes and like no one deserves to be like waiting
for a reply.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I do appreciate your maturity on that one, for sure,
and I think he did too.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Hence maybe the birthday gift hete probably already had ordered it,
like you have to order those types of things, Like
it had my name inscribed in.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
It, Bobby, the things that I would do to have
a leather bound journal with my name.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
That's beautiful gift, I know.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
So I think there are a lot of angles that
we could take to this story as to like maybe
why you didn't want to continue to date someone that
was super kind and sweet and precious to you and
you decided.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
To Yeah, you know, that's something to unpack for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
To stay within maybe some toxic boundaries, but we will
save that part of the story for maybe a different day.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
What I want to focus on now.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Though, is because because we have different I thought that was.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
A really sweet gift.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I do too, And yeah, if we were still seeing
each other. I don't think it would have. Like if
his birthday someone I'm just seeing, I would probably get
them a little something like just to be like happy
birthday or nothing.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
That's the thing.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
If you were casually dating someone over a few months
and they sent you a leather bound journal with your
name inscribed and a penn with your name inscribed.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
That's odd.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I think that's a really beautiful, lovely, cherished gift.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yes, But.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
How how soon is too soon to start sending someone
gifts like that if you're newly dating.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I don't really buy people birthday.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Gifts, maybe like a five dollars ten dollars like venmo
for a Starbucks gift card on your birthday. But if
you are newly dating someone and it's casual and their
birthday comes up, do you acknowledge it?
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Do you ignore it?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Do you buy them a leather bound journal with their
name inscribed?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Talk back with TIV on iHeart Radio.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
The microphone is in the top right hand corner or
five pint three seven four nine, one oh seven one?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
How soon is too soon for the leather bound journal?
Good morning?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
You're waking up a TIVE in the morning on kis
one oh seven one. We're still commercial free and just
a few minutes out from your chance to win Trans
Siberian Orchestra tickets. When you have the keyword journal, what's
what's your stance on buying a birthday gift for someone
that you are newly dating?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Do you do it? Do you not? Do you acknowledge it?
What are your thoughts? Oh god, okay, I'm about to
fall over. You're almost six hundred dollars. It was on
a necklace. Uh, and I'm really pissed that I've even
bought it for the best person because you know it's over,
but that's still man. Oh my god. Thank you for
the talkback with Tiff.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
By the way, the microphone is in the top right
hand corner of the iHeart Radio app if you too
want to contribute. So the reason why we're even talking
about this this morning, Bobby's our social media manager. It's
his birthday this coming weekend, and he had showed me
a picture of a leather bound journal with his name
on inscribed on it from a guy that he's gone
on a few.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Dates with m M.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
And they aren't really technically dating anymore, but you receive
that beautiful journal, and he's.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
A good receive. It is a scoch too early, yep.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
I did think it was a sweet, thoughtful guest, absolutely
for sure. I also assume he ordered it before we like.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Broke it off, but he's still sent to Maybe it
was sent.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Direct with the journal with my name on it. We'll
meet another Bobby, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Randomly, I don't know, and maybe I would rather sell
it on like an eBay than go through that. But
maybe you know you guys connected, he thought of you.
I thought it was a thoughtful gift. Yes, it might
be a little too early in the relationship, but again,
what are you going to.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Do towards It's a sweet, thoughtful gift because like the
bars in Hell, am I allowed to say that?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
No for real in the dating world. So I'm more on.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
The side of like, it is a very sweet, thoughtful
gift because that shows he actually, like knew my interest,
took an interest in inscribing my name into it.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I was not expecting our talkbacks to go in the direction.
I mean, I don't think the journal costs six hundred dollars,
but that moment's been six hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
A necklace Wow, that's that's dedication in your opinion.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
How what what's your Do you give it three months,
one week, four dates like you went.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
On one week? Absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
But if there were a few dates and it was
someone's birthday, I would absolutely do something. It would not
be to that level of a six hundred dollar necklace
or in a leather bound journal, but it would be
like a box of chocolates or like a little card
like happy.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
You would even go gift. I wouldn't go gift a gift.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I would acknowledge it, and I would do a gift
it maybe six months.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Into the relationship. How about that, I'm slow. How about
I'll take you to dinner. I'll pay for a dinner
her for your birthday, I'll buy you a martini.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I spent three thousand dollars on a diamond a ton
of s bracelet for my mom.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Okay, for the mom. Well, well that's fine. You hear
the end of it, though, No, because what if there's
more to the story.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
And she really needed a little pick me up so
I wanted to get her something really special.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Okay, now we've gone down a rabbit hole.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, this is three thousand dollars on a gift for
your mom feels like a lot to me.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yeah. If I had it, of course I would buy
my parents anything.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I would not be spending three grand of my dad.
I'm gonna be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
And that's fine. Well, okay, we have spiral usual lot
of the show.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
If you have the keyword that I had mentioned earlier
in the show, why don't you start dialing for the
TSO tickets five win three seven nine one O seven one.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Good luck because you're waking up with Fifth in the
morning on Kiss one seven one. I love that song.
I knew every word to it. Bobby. Do you know
the words of that song? Do you know that song? No?
I do? Now cu cuck co co cool.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
All right, I am hoping that you have a keyword
for me. Good morning, it's journal. Congratulations, you got the keyword.
You are going to Trans Siberian Orchestra this November.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Awesome. Thank you so much. You're welcome. What's you name?
What neighbor? Are you waking up with me? And I'm
Amanda and I'm and rath Amanda. Thank you for listening
to Tiff in the morning. Oh, thank you.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I appreciate that we were just chit chatting about how
soon is too soon? Or what's your stance on buying
a gift for someone that you're dating, or do you thinking?
I think you have to take each relationship and look
at it a little bit differently, So it just depends
on that person in your relationship.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Totally. That was profound.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yes, that I should rate that in my leatherbound journal inscribed
with my name.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Okay, I'm done after four dates on a day like today,
On a day like on a day like today, Okay,
well I love that. Coming up? Where am i at?
Speaker 2 (08:56):
