Two defeats by late goals in the space of a week, and the pod crew had people at both games... First up, Ed speaks with our old friends Phil In Northampton and Dave Yr Alltudion about Saturday's 1-0 loss at Northampton, and in Part 2 we hear Ian's match diary from Salford. We ponder what Plan B is when Doidge / Etete are out and we're lacking a physical presence up top, we cast our eye over the deadline-day signings, and we also co...
Jamie and the pod crew descend on Newport for another early litmus test against Tranmere; kicking things off with pre-match opines at the Arcadia before heading pitchside to meet with the usual cast of characters under the stands and on the terraces.
Talking points before kickoff: has this squad quietly upgraded from relegation fodder to something with genuine bite? The lads dig into Newport's newfound physicality, the new arriv...
Pod regular Alfie was on match diary duties for this one, as County made the short hop across the Severn for a derby against Bristol Rovers. Along the way, he draws on the thoughts of Logan and Marc, on what turned out to be a thrilling but disappointing day for the travelling fans.
And in the second half of the pod, Ed looks ahead to Saturday's home game against Tranmere by catching up with Ethan Hoijord about what to expect fr...
A comfortable opening day win, in glorious sunshine, surrounded by cold beers and good company. It doesn't get better than that, does it? Join Ian for his match diary of Saturday's victory and relive a wonderful day for all County fans... Plus at the end, we have tagged on our preview of Saturday's visit to Bristol Rovers where Ed gains insights on our hosts from Tom Day. The video version of that will be out on YouTube later in th...
Jack's joined by Ian and Alfie for the season preview as they run through a summer of change at Rodney Parade: Hayden Mullins arriving as manager just before kick-off, Kyle Cameron taking the captain's armband and a recruitment strategy that's swung from young and inexperienced to getting some genuine experience back into the side
The lads debate whether the squad's actually better on paper, worry (as ever) about a midfield that...
We're back in competitive action! Jamie sauntered down south (London) for Newport's visit to Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup. Featuring a motley crew of waifs and strays taking in what was a decent first outing of Mullinsball.
We'll be back soon with our big Season Preview. In the meantime, do check out our website for all the pod info you need, and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us. You can also suppor...
With Hayden Mullins appointed earlier as County's new manager, we hastily assembled an #EmergencyPod to gauge the panel's reaction, to assess listeners' views, and to probe what sort of tactical approach we can expect from the new man at the helm. Ed, Jack and Ian are your guides for this one, with plenty of laughs along the way. Enjoy!

It's been a busy few weeks in the Countyverse, with managerial rumours, investment rumours, more friendly games than you can shake a stick at, and a squad that seems to be developing nicely. This is another summer special episode, where we fulfil a long-held ambition to do a ground guide to Somerton Park - arriving from Cromwell Road, entering through th...
Rhys, Ed & Alfie hastily assemble in the aftermath of Christian Fuchs' resignation as Newport County manager. They give their reaction to the news, speculate on what might happen next, consider the many rumours of who might take over as manager and indeed as chairman, and reflect on the Supporters' Trust statement to fans. As always, we'd welcome your views in the comments as well.

NB, intro recorded prior to Christian Fuchs' departure - see Ep280 for our snap reaction to that news...
Another short bonus episode for you, ahead of County's first pre-season game on Saturday at Bristol Manor Farm - and one that features a time capsule from a year ago, when we asked four listeners to send us a voicenote predicting how County would fare in 2024/25 based on the friendlies they'd just watched. Listen and learn wh...
The crew are still taking a few weeks off, but we've brought you some bonus content to keep you entertained. A match diary from America, no less! Not of the World Cup, but of Ian's trip to the baseball back in April. A welcome distraction from football, and plenty to love about this.
We'll be back next week with a short episode about pre-season friendlies that you might find interesting, and we're also working on a special episo...
Hot off the heels of our interHuw (episode #277), we’re bringing you another chat - this time, with bonafide Newport legend, and newly-appointed Newport City manager, Robbie Willmott.
Robbie takes us through his two stints at the club, including those memorable games where he lit up the small screens with breathtaking performances. He also speaks candidly about his approach to management and the coaches who inspired him. P...
As players, coaches and fans take a well-earned breather, we sat down for a lengthy chat with County chairman Huw Jenkins to look back at a rollercoaster season and to ask how the club might steer itself into calmer waters. Mr Jenkins gave an open and honest assessment of what went wrong last year, but also in explaining what lessons have been learned from it, and why fans should keep the faith. We also touch on whether any future ...
Now the dust has settled on the 2025/26 campaign, Rhys sat down over Zoom with Ian and Alfie to unpack and review what can at best be described as a topsy-turvy season for Newport County AFC.
We'll likely do our usual thing of releasing episodes about every fortnight over the summer break - but within that scaled-back schedule we hope to bring you a few special interviews, some hot takes on new signings, and maybe a few bits of ...

Ep274 of the pod saw us review probably the craziest game of football any of us have ever seen, as Newport County came from behind to win 3-2 in the 108th minute against Oldham Athletic, putting us on the cusp of retaining our Football League status. A breathtaking game, with goals galore, a sending off, a missed penalty, a lengthy injury - all it needed was a dog on the pitch and it would have had everything.
A short episode, because Ep272 was a deep dive into County's accounts and Ep274 will be a "Live @ The Riverside" special, recorded after next Saturday's home match against Oldham. So for this one we just had a short chat with friend of the pod Marc Peplow about County's defeat at Whaddon Road, dwelling in particular on County's lack of goals this season.
Don't forget that next Saturday will be our live show at the Riverside...
