Yeah, good afternoon, Andy, and thanks for having us. Yah,
things in Napier beautiful?

Is the Hawk's Bay ticking along in a rural sense,
in a farming sense?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, Look, I think Hawk's Bay, like the rest of
the country's ticking on reason be nicely in the rural space.
And you know, it's hope it last a long time
because we certainly need that the country needs the rural
sectors will be strong.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Richard, good to catch up once again since we last
had you on board for a yarn. How it's been happening.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Oh, you know, we're starting to crank into it now.
Obviously the calving's well underway, and yeah, guys are thinking
for it to go on the ground, so yep, start
to happen.

at the moment, wouldn't.

You you're getting around the country quarter But we're talking
about Manke fertilizer options comincidentally as well.

wrapping up the ground. We're kind of turn over some worms,
looking at ferred options and something that comes into the calendar.

Absolutely. Look, and we're starting to see, you know, a
lot more demand, a lot more inquiry for fertilizer. You know,
the weather conditions, particularly down on the bottom half of
the South Island, they have been reasonably kind. Yeah, and
we're starting to get phone calls and emails and people
contacting us and crying about fertilizer.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Richard, you'd agree with that, Yeah, I would, yep, Yeah, No,
definitely starting to take off.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
When you're talking to cockies at the moment, they're all thinking,
this is a new year. We don't have to worry
about last year and thinking about how going to make
ends meet when it comes to it, they're just ripping
into it.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, the season's a lot earlier I think this year,
because it's been such a good winter, the growth, you
know that just it's a head, but it's not a head,
if that makes sense, because the fertilizers going just starting
to go on now, which is earlier, but the grass
is still there. If it makes you know, total sense.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
It does make sense. And the season's just dry a
full stop as well. We'll go back twelve months, which
we won't speak of again down here, Jamie, because it
was horrific, but certainly the mood as well heading into
the start of September is a positive one down here.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Look, I agree we've found that, you know, farmers are
in the more positive mood. As you say, Ady, this
time last year, I was struggling to get fertilizer on
at all using helicopters. We were getting inquiries from helicopter
companies wanting to you know, half ton bags a fertilizer
to apply over blocks that would normally have a speed
of truck five acustoms. So yeah, completely different season, a

lot more positive and obviously a result of much better
weather conditions.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
So Richard, when you're talking to farmers and talking about
the difference of manco, what are they thinking, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
They're liking it. They're thinking that, you know, a new
player in the game is definitely well over due and
having us here as a big positive for them.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
We would you say the appeal of Manco is for
new people coming on board.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Look, we're an absolute no frills model. Look at it
like New World versus pack and Save. I mean, we
don't pay rebates, we're not giving away free be there's
no cross subsidization between farmers. It's a basic no frills model.
It's trying to offer the best price ferializer in the market.
So that's our model and that's our point of difference.

And Jamie. Organizing an account with Marco for people who
want to get involved, it's pretty easy.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, Look, it's really easy. Going to the Marco dot
com website at the bottom of the page, there's a
credit application button. Click on that into your farm entity's
name and a lot of the boxes will prepopulate, you know,
And if they have any problems with opening up an
account with Manco, just get rich at a call. Richer
(04:17):
will come out and help you talk you through it.
They'll even bring us computer out and help you do
it if you need help.

That easy, Richard just get you, anybody having any issues,
get you to come and help out speaking set up
an account with Marco as such.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yep, definitely very easy.

Well, that's the thing we talk about a Jabi. It's
all about competition for different things, and Marco being a
new player or a reasonably new player in the market
as well, just something else to consider.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Absolutely, And look, as I said, you know, it's a
no frills model and we make no secret of that.
And the reason, you know, because we're a no frills
model offering the basic nutrients. You know, we're offering products
like your ear at the moment somewhere between sixty and
eight sixty and ninety dollars a ton cheaper than anyone
else in the market. So you can't you know, you

can't have your cake and eat it too. If you
want good quality, well priced fertilizer, you know, we could
be your answer.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Yeah. As far as Urea being unloaded, Jamie, what's the situation.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
We've just unloaded a vessel in New Zealand, a full
vessel thirty thousand tons between Taranaki and the cargo and Timboru.
In fact, we had two vessels unload in the last
couple of weeks we've had dap MP and other core
nutrients unload and a full vessel of UREA.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Now, Richard, you got your facility down there at Kennington
for storage, so it is available in southmand definitely.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Yep, we're leaning into it. It's it's yeah, there's a
full shed down there ready to go.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
So what about okay, guys, forward contracting, what's that about?
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Look, I think we are one of the few companies
that have been able to offer forward contracting. So right
now we can offer UREA pricing out the end of January.
I know that some of the co ops are starting
to offer that now, But before we entered the market,
it wasn't an option and farmers had to pay the
price on the day they picked up the fertilizer. So,
(06:14):
as an example, if I ordered fertilizer today off one
of the other companies and they moved the price at
the end of this week and I didn't pick it
up until next week and the price had gone up,
I'd be paying the new price that the new price
that they had moved to during the period between me
(06:34):
ordering and picking it up. What we're able to do
is we're able to offer a fixed price right through
till the end of January twenty twenty six. So it's
locked and the farmer knows what he's going to be
paying for the product. He knows what his returns are
for his milk solids. Oh it's a win win, you know,
they know what they're going to pay, they know what
(06:55):
the returns are. They can lock in some of their
gross margins.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
That's a game change of a lot of peace. People.
Richard always reconfiguring budges at this time of year, wondering
what you're going to have to do to make ends, mate,
But this concertainty, Yeah.

It does. Yeah, it's a it's a good initiative and
it's a positive it's a positive way of doing it.
