Speaker 1 (00:14):
She seems and men and Miles Robin Grere of PGG
Rights in Real Estate joins us next on the muster, Robin,
good afternoon, our saints.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
And what's yeah, very good? Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, having spoken to you for a couple of days,
what's been happening well enough to.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Keep me, that's for sure. Yeah, real estate has probably
been a bit busier through the winter months and through
carving and all, and what would not we be people, Yeah,
decided that maybe they need to start doing things. So
it's from my point of view, it's been very good.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
So how would you compare it to this season as
opposed to say, two years ago from a real estate perspective.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Look, this is probably there in my time seven years
in real estate, this would be as busy for the
time of the year as it's ever been. That's busier
than it's ever been. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Now you can think of a couple of reasons that
come to hands straight away from and from your angle,
what do you think of the main drivers?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
The main drivers would be, you know, returns are positive,
so people are sort of but they can make things
work financially. And from the seller's point of view, people
are thinking that, hey, you know, is there a better
time to get out for those you know, there's a
number of gray years people like yourself that have you know,
(01:39):
been thinking some need to get out and retire from farming,
and so you know made for some of them.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
So spring is traditionally the time that a lot of
farms come into the market.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, generally not quite this early though, but you know,
we've had a very good August. Farms are looking good
and people are wanting to you know, cash in on
this opportunity while it's there. So from that's from a
buy point of view and a seller point of view,
like there's buyers out there that they sort of a
little bit concerned that maybe prices might start lifting, and
(02:15):
so they want to get in before that happens, if
it happens, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Just that time of your I suppose you've got the
grass growing, the lambs are coming out, and maybe mom
and dad, the kids aren't coming through, and they're looking
at their position as to where they want to be
in life. And this is where you come into it,
I suppose, so you can help them if they want
to look at transitioning off the farm in a selling sense.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, yeah, So they had a lot of them sort
of discussions in recent months, most of them very positive discussions.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
What is it at the moment that seems to be
the core focus for a lot of buyers. Are we
looking at dairy or sheep beef farming as such? Yes,
we hear about carbon farming coming into the equation, but
what are you seeing mostly coming onto the market.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Most of the interests would be dairy at the moment,
without doubt, there's a lot of people wanting to get
into the dairy side of things. And you know some
of that is you know, sheep and beef farmers that
are wanting to yeah, get their fingers in the pie
as well. Yeah, it's quite interesting times really, the dairy
you know, even if the GDT that does, you know,
(03:21):
it fluctuates, but the long term view is still very positive.
So you know, we can see the GDT go up
and down it but overall the long term thing is
still very positive and that's what most people are looking at. Now.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
We hear of people wanting to sell farms. What about
the buyers of farms? What are people looking at at
the moment the dairy side of things. Again, given the positivity.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
They're definitely the dairy is. It's the majority of what
I'm talking about at the moment. The majority of inquiries
is about dairy properties.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
This is probably one of your fas at times you
would imagine Robin when Okay, a couple of days of
weather have been a bit caped, but overall you just
see the transitioning of seasons and changing of the seasons.
You're going about. You're talking to farmers general here that
you've got the deaf. He's on the side of the road.
When you're getting around in your travels. It can be
pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Oh okay, it's a lot time, isn't it. We've crap
weather in the last week, but overall, gee, it's been great. Yeah.
I feel for some of the sheep farmers you know
that have been the middle of mming this last week.
But apart from there, things are looking very good and
countrysides looking good. Yeah, I'm expecting, you know, good things
(04:38):
for the rest of them. Up. The temperatures are are
here are looking pretty good, so southand's a nice place
to be.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Well, it's always a nice place to be.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
We know that because we're down here. Mate.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
We don't want to keep the secret. We want to
keep the secret away from a few people though.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah. Yeah, but hey, we are quite happy to keep
your money down if they bring us.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, that's a good point as well. Now for yourself
as well. What happens over the winter months you got
into springtime? Did you go away any major trips or
do anything out of the ordinary?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Robin, No, this year was really spent at home. Yeah,
we got a few jobs tidied up on the farm,
a few projects done, and yeah, a little bit of
time me up, but really nothing special this year.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, that's what it's all about. Just every season's different, Robin.
The team at PGG rights in real estate that somebody
would like to connect, what's the best way to get
in touch.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah, they can contact me on two seven four three
three two five eight or yeah, look on their website.
Always more than happy to help anyone.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Just one final question, Robin, who should be captain of
the All Blacks?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Oh? Long again? Get in trouble.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
But I think Artie, I don't think you're alone in
that thinking. But it was just I don't know, it's
not as you're not you're not grumpy, You're just disappointed.
It's the ultimate thing in life, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Oh, there's like, gee, that was disappointing. We we should
have stopped the game at the end of the first half,
shouldn't we, Like, hey, we've got some great players there,
but they just got caught it up badly, didn't it.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Absolutely, And we'll leave the Stags to the side because
that wasn't a good weekend for them, even mate. But nonetheless,
Robin always got to catch up the team. But pgg
Rights in Real Estate will catch up again.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Thanks Andy, Robin Greer of PGD Rights in Real Estate.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
You're listening to the master up next from Environment South
and Donald Ferguson.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
She looked beautiful.
