Muster once again. Good afternoon, Matt. The song as it's
raining again by super Trap. But down here in the
Deep South it's quite a pleasant day to be fair.

But you're up in Auckland today of all places.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah, good afternoon Andy. It's good to hear the sun
it's shining at there because we're certainly wanting to see
the end of summer and any of the woods a
bit of sunshine wouldn't go astray. But yeah, it's quick
trip up talking for a couple of days to go
and watch the Edinburgh Tatoo concept I've got up here tonight. Yeah,

Well, the things we learned about individuals. What were you saying.
You've played the bagpipes for about three years.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, I've been getting close to it alone when I
was a cat and my old man was learning it
was something he'd always wanted to learn and learning, and
so yeah, I've picked it up to and have played
it for the local wind and pop band for yeah,
getting close to thirty years. That's pretty cool and be
able to do that and play at the show and
Ensic Day and a few other events, the odd wedding

and funeral and yeah, and now I've got a nephew
learning and my oldest boys has taking it up to
seven years old. Pretty cool family tradition.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Have you ever found inclined to crank out the bagpipes
during tailing or something like that, because you can.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Now. I pulled it out a few times after the
old party, but it's good party truck, and actually played
it with the band after a wedding. But yeah, there's
some pretty clever big poppers out there now that can
intertwine it in with a lot of music. So yeah,
it's good to see it becoming slightly more popular again.
There's a lot of kids, and then the cargoles now learning,

so it's good to see and.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
The Edinburgh tees too. It doesn't get any bigger than that.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
No, it's not. So I've never actually seen it. I've
known a few people that have watched it overseas and
become highly recommended. So I think it's seventy five years
since it was last in New Zealand. It would be
great to say they've got three concerts I believe up here.
The next few days. Yeah, it's be a good share night,
looking forward to it.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
So a couple of days are an away from macer reader.
But saying that, how's the season playing out?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Pretty good. We've got a little moose during the soil
at the moment and putting your grass. The lambs are
doing really well, and yeah, the user in good note
we'll get the wall off them in a couple of
weeks and eight months hearing, but yeah, they're looking really good,
just kind of stuttering and mousing them and yeah, things
are looking pretty good at the moment. The lambs are

doing well and getting well paid for them, so yeah,
making it pretty easy at the moment.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Especially with sharing costs covered now and when you're going
eight months, that's always good.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah, it's been on the back of my mind whether
we ripping and get the wool off them and make
the most of it. But I'd like to think it's
more than just a bluff in the markets. Yeah, we
made the lambs wall that we've taken off has sold
really well and in the U fleece is looking pretty
good too. So you said, it's always good when you're
doing something for making money and not a break even exercise.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
I mean, it's good just to talk about wool for
the positive and it's the same old story. It's got
a long way to go, Yeah, but it share as
hell a lot better than where it's been.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, it certainly is. And like you said, I like
reminding the buyers that it's still probably not as high
as what it's been in my salmon career, and I
haven't been someming for as long as a lot of others.
But it's good. It's heading in the right direction and
hopefully it's sustainable left and for the right reasons, which
it appears to be at the moment. So we'll take it,

and it keept pushing that hopefully it can go.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
It's a better way to look at it. Side, likes
of grass hasn't been an issue.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
I haven't had good quality the whole way through and
putting your clover in it. So yeah, it's going really
good at the moment. Trying just waiting patiently to get
some menual thurret on at the moment. But we've had
a few petots of rash and I've tried and some
older pastures this year too, and the lambs are going
really good on that. So we killed a line off
(04:27):
at a twenty kilos there probably three weeks ago, and
I've had some back on it to see what they're growing,
So when they come off next week, it'll be interesting
how they kill again or have a clear idea of
just how much faster they've grown on it over the grass.
But appears to be doing the job at the moment, so.

You're pretty confident you'll get all the lambs away at
wait this.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Year it should be. Yeah, Now the lembs are certainly
certainly looking pretty good. I haven't really dived into the
hogit lembs too much just yet because they're the killing
up pretty good, so he need a few mails on
the street grass we've got, but it was still well
on tech and consciously I've talked to a lot of

people when they say that their lambs are two or
three weeks away from being killed. We'll probably just kept
taking ears over at that twenty kilos because they don't
want to be stuck with the whole heap of them
in March if everyone else his ideas of killing them.
But I don't think space is going to be an
issue again to the piece of things this year.

Yeah, likes of the bower clothes to sale here.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Just quickly looked up the prices for lambs two seventy
for the top of the primes, but the price for
the lad jew is getting out to two sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
There's a lot of money for a mason.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah it as I said, the use scheduled sneaking up
again as well, but a bit of it. There's demand driven.
There's not a lot of cow us out there at
the moment, but the good news is it's underpinning the
capul u market at the moment too, So there's good
to see a bit of confidence and what people are
paying for the secret. It's been a few years, but

the old roll around one and a half Tom's Lambs
for You seems to be a bit spot on again
this year and there's some good genuine line to stop
being out there and it's good to see some confident
buyers coming in and taking them.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
So it's still a case of courtious optimism for the
season and beyond.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
I think so like I think their future of rood
meat industry is as a positive one. And yeah, it's
just building it slowly and making sure it's sustainable, isn't it.
Because we don't like the big swings so it's just
taking the high at the moment and what we can
do to make sure that yeah, we can it's sustainable
(06:40):
long term and put stuff in place that people can
invest in confidence and we can get these results for
the next few years. But yeah, it certainly looking good
at the moment and good to see it across. Probably
the shape beef in Wall was probably the biggest thing
to have three heading in the right direction at once.
It's certainly to spring the steph and most six Summers.

And terracing as well. The Alliance Group's teamed up the
South and Stags and they've got their name on the
back of the jersey this year. I've seen this in
the press just the other day. So thanks for just
ticking along obviously for Alliance.

Yeah, it is good to see, Yeah, businesses back in
the Stags. Yeah, i'd say that appreciate any support down
the sponsors support down here in the South and yeah,
hopefully it helps underpin a few of those discussions around
what they do with Rugby Park in the future to
task that's been in the paper a week but the

last few weeks been nice to see them put a
medium to long term plane around that too. Wouldn't it.
Because Earon loves gone down to Rugby Park and watching
the step and stags.
