Speaker 1 (00:11):
Thanks to Abby Rural, we catch up with Grant Disaster
Big Master weekly here on the muster farming at Closeburn
Station on the edge of Lake Walker, Tippoo above Queenstown.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Good I, grunt, Good Andy, Good afternoon, and good afternoon
all our listeners.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
How's the basin today?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
The basin's quite hot today, Andy. I've been away for
a couple of days doing some dog trailing and or
some dog trailing down at to Effaca West on Saturday,
and then I was judging the Centenary Centennial trial at
Whitehna on Sunday Monday. So I got home, left the
early this morning and got home and threw a bit
of five down through Milli's flat Bowmont Way. But a

(00:50):
beautiful day here at klose Burn, not a breath of
wind and sixteen degrees, so it was it was similar
to that down in South Otago. And I just was
really taken by a lot of some of the country
down there around Lawrence. And when you get off the
main road through those back roads through the wide are
in the West and there's all that, it's just like

(01:13):
you actually need a mat so you know where you're
going and you can It's a lot of country and
then it's very it's very steep, and but you know
what's not in plight, what is not in pine trees
is beautiful land. And the trial of how that Ron
Roger Tweed's property. It's just to go over hell on
a little basin opens up and yeah, you know, steep country,

(01:35):
nice grass, and they've had a they've had a really
good season down there, one of the best they've had
for a long time. And we've had a good season
off here. But I just ain't you off here. We
get all the cows and calves and must have them,
and most of them. And on Monday for wedding, on Tuesday,
cart or Wednesday. And when you want the water around
the cattle yarts flowing like it normally does, it's difficult.

(01:58):
It's now dried up water when we need it. So guys,
did see it's a fickle old game, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Will your caves will be worth a good coin.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah they will be, especially they get a drink when
we getting out of the yard. But you know, I mean,
the kettle prices are looking good, and it's we're selling
it at omer cow that there were up until this year,
there were always three three Omer cow calf sales, but
they've cut it down to one sail this year, so
I think that's good to do with a lot of

(02:29):
farmers and now they sell on farm, so there's a result.
You know, there's two sales come out of the way,
but we're stuck with the with the oxygen system all
the way through and if nothing else, it's a great
day out at the at the sale, and specially if
a good one, and it's always great to catch up
with everyone selling the calves and the buyers that come
back each year. So we're taking with the sale. But

(02:51):
obviously a lot of people aren't they they're selling private
the ending.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
And we talked about this last year as well. I
remember ground about going to the sales and you might
have only been saying the same jokers once every twelve months,
but they did.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, they are, and a lot of those you know,
a lot of those buyers. There's obviously people that like
buying it under the oxygen system and and other people
that don't. But I think, but I like about the oxeners.
There'll be people still trying to get calves and I'm thinking,
you know, you go along for a bit of a bargain,
and and that remains to be seen. You know, there's
always there's always something for somebody. But yeah, it's good

(03:27):
and I you know, we we sell our heifer calves,
that we sell everything because I buy and buy and
you know, two year old three year old heifers, black heifers,
and we put the air for ball over everything. So
there's always a bit of a demand for our here
for cross for fresh cross heifers. Say, you know, that's
sort of a lot that easy to get and so

(03:50):
there's a good mark over them and that's one of
the reason we keep going to the sale. But yeah,
it'll be interesting to see next week out goes. I
think things might be softening a little bit. But you know,
you only need two people that are ken on the
day and the words your awys when you're sailling not
so good when you're buying sometimes.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Right, your world famous dog trial results, What did you got?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, well we haven't got anything from corn it was
just the other day or from last week at Winton.
So we'll go to turpeck A, Wes where I was
competing there the other day. And it's congratulations to the
Turpeka Wes club. They've they've had to change their trial
grounds and they've gone out and you know it's not
easy a small club, but they all got in behind

(04:32):
it and towns and new grounds and the courses were
really good and they had a pretty good turnout. So
congratulations the Turpeck of wes So, but they're down. Their
event won the longhead. First was long John Tweed and
Top with ninety seven point five. Second was Byron Cucumber, Samwa,

my names. He got named Seahorse many many years ago.
And there was something to do with them antics and
the sea. So and I'm actually not too sure how
that story goes, but I know Adam Hall, the x

Love Trapped

Love Trapped

Former Bachelor Clayton Echard’s casual one-night fling turned into a paternity nightmare. When the news broke about the scandal, no one believed Clayton at first. He was a reality TV star, and an unpopular one at that. Clayton found himself trying to prove the truth, while trapped in a web of lies, manipulation, and threats. He would soon discover he was not the only one. At its core, this is a story about who you believe and why. It’s an epic battle that would take a group of strangers, citizen sleuths from across the world, to crack the case and finally hold someone accountable. New episodes of Love Trapped are released every Thursday, starting February 26th, 2026.
