Speaker 1 (00:10):
Welcome back to the Master.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Andy Dennis Farms up at Menapouri and joins us in
Saturn Den Farming Ground up. Thanks of course the Saturn
Den Stop Foods based here and Gore. Good afternoon, Kekere.
You're at the South Island Champs. Of course the Mariella
Dog Told club hosting. You're one of the Grand Poobas.
It sounds like a million things are happening at the moment.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, I know, well there's been a million things happen
in the last two weeks. But yeah, it's all coming together,
so a million and a half this morning, i'd say,
but no, it's all going really heavy. We've got one
hundred and forty five competitors from all over New Zealand
and yeah, we'll be doing two hundred and fifty hunts
(00:49):
over the rooks, five days on each course, so over
five hundred hunts and about yeah, four hundred and forty
heading dog runs as well on the heading courses. So
so good. Everyone seems to be heavy, you seek seem
to be behaving themselves. We're looking for a beautiful run
of weather. It looks like the whole week's going to
be great, so maybe a little of rain on Wednesday,
but it's south and it's always going to rain one
(01:11):
day and a week in it.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, ground conditions there, they're holding up pretty good then.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
So far so good. Yeah, no, we're Yeah, it's nice
on the foot and people. There's no problem with parking.
He runs off man your rooms, so yeah, no, we're
heavy days at the moment.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
So you wouldn't have much of a chance to get
into the mind mind this weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
No, no, poor old kick he didn't get the shoot
ducks for the first time and or thirty years probably
probably more so. Yeah, the the finger was there was
a bit there just the way with a yeah missing that,
but yeah, look like it is what it is. We're
busy enough as it was, and I'll do a duck
(01:50):
shooting truck up and can great hit some hero goes
uponds later on in the month as my plane.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, so the same set there for the lake pretty much. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah, it's five days. There will still be we're hoping,
yeah run off we'll carry on for and they'll be
they'll be Friday. Yeah, hunts in the morning and here's
in the afternoons are planned. So everyone's welcome. All the
public's welcome. You can walking off the coming off the road,
have a meal and have a bit and watch some
(02:20):
of the these elements dog cheap dogs in action.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
So it's the South Island chairs for people who have
come from the North Island as well.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, we a lot of norther Islanders. Yeah, and a
lot of North Islanders. They all crossed on Friday and
then yeah they were here all yesterday walking the courses,
having a look around and sustenly it where to go,
we're to put dogs and everything. So no, it's been
really well supported. So it's amazing how many people come
(02:48):
down and haven't been over to the side of the
South Island over to the far week, you know. So
it's great for you for Orland to be able to
showcase down there and Manapuri and for the Orlands and yeah,
as well as as hosts some some really good courses
and really good sheep and yeah, put on a good
venue and show them the southern Southern hospitality. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
And you're on the main drag you're going into the
quy when you're coming from Osbourn, So no doubt you'll
have a lot of tourists but startled as to what's
going on.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Yeah, No, we've had a lot of walking already. Yeah,
so you just dropped down from Gorge Hall, coming from Mossbourn,
get in the bottom of the hill and along a
weave bit further and I think it's two nine three
four Mossbourn Tianna Highway and yeah at the Burrowood Station,
at Burwood Station, then the Longbows on Davar Station. So big,
(03:41):
big thanks to the landowners for for a mayor have
been able to be here. So that's great.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah, so just give people an understanding of how long
in the vent lead this takes to get up and running.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
You don't want to know. I don't want to talk
about it because it'll it'll just it'll bring up some demons. Yeah,
but it's been at the last one was Greenvale. So
it's every five years neither host An Ireland, the THEEF
and send either hosts in Ireland or hosts Seth Island
in New Zealand. Wine. So yeah, a lot of work
(04:16):
goes into it, a lot of sponsorship, a lot of
businesses get behind it and I'd love to think a few,
but the debt many and yeah, like you as you
come and you can see all the sponsors that have
have put on the work behind the scenes and backing shore.
We're in a really good spot financially. Is the THEEFN
center to bad a running event like this and yeah,
(04:38):
I've got it's this is just the end next thanks so,
but we're real heavy with it's going. So for on
day one, I'll let you go.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Just one final question as far as favorites for these
kind of events, can you tell or is it a
case of it's on the day due to the stock.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Every dog has its day, Indy, and I don't want
to I don't want anyone taking beats on it one.
But look, there's a lot of good hundaways come down
from the North Island and as usually got the place
where the heaters have come from. But we've we've got
our own local favorites down here in Southland and and
south the trials and south and have been going really good.
(05:17):
This is funny at numbers. So runoffs will be on Friday,
like I said, so yeah across Southland. If you've never
been to runoffs at gontrolls, they really are a great
specticle in a great event to come and see. So yeah,
come out and watch them. So every the top seven
runs from the week all have another go have another
(05:38):
run on Friday, so it's the finals or the runoffs.
And yeah, it's it's cool to be able to see
those seven runs in a row and you know, watch
it all and it's it's it really is cool. It's real.
It's a real good event. So come along. It'll be
another five years before the next one, so that's well
worth a look now.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Yeah, congratulations to you and the organizing committee for the
South Holand Dog Trials happening this week at Malroa. Enjoy
the week and come Friday night you'll deserve a quiet one.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Yeah, no, it'll be Yeah, it'll be great, So start
one in all the week in number. We're really enjoying it.
We're excited to host that. That's great and on behalf
at the dog trial club and the setting all this
again and the landowners and everyone who's contributed to running
a successful event like it is. So thanks to everyone
(06:30):
and by all names, stop and heave a meal Microsoft
none and yeah, well I look forward to seeing everyone
from where oh club president Keker, Yeah.
