Speaker 1 (00:01):
Beach. Good children, Well, fathers.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Did slowly go.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Welcome back.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
This is the muster. Jared Stockman of darian Z joins
us this afternoon. Jared, good, afternoon. How thing's been andy?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Yeah, no, thing's going well.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Well what are we now? Calves are just starting to
pop out all over the show. We're about eight days
or so left in July, so I think overall it's
been we Otherwise, it was good up until the middle
of the June. It got a bit damp, but lately
you're starting to see a little a few green shoots,
which is an annoying phrase but kind of relevant. You're

(00:42):
starting to see early line's early life of spring.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, right, Indy. No, it's been a pretty good winter,
I think. And yeah, a few of those heaps that
are dropping out, some calves near was at the place
yesterday looking at calving VAHM and Riversdale and me and
what are set up. But yeah, a few really calves
and the sheet and looking pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Actually, those carving bands are pretty impressive operations, aren't they.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, we're fortunate enough to have a discussion group un
vain yet at Riversdale and gee, he's got a great
system out there beautiful setup robotic calf feeders, and I
think that the anything about Allen is all the carving
bands are set up to go, you know, before before

(01:31):
March each year, so there's kind of nothing to do.
Well prepared, good set up, good system staff on board. Yeah,
they're going to be you know, they'll be in a
good place. Is more calves start to drop out, so
like to.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Use today's avin a few people getting a couple of
ideas about future endeavas on the farm.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Perhaps, Yeah, And I think that's the benefit of getting
along to discussion. Great regardless of where you are, and yeah,
and your kind of dairy farming life, you can always
you can always learn something new. And even while we're there,
one of the farmers sort of suggested, hey, you know,
given the technology that you've got there, don't forget about
having you think about your peace control. So you know,

(02:16):
you can always learn something new. And yeah, a lot
of farmers are you know, are pretty good at adapting
and bringing on new systems. And yeah, looking forward to
tomorrow as well, we've got another infrastructure day with the
Walnut family at Mokotua Road looking at the air around
carving pads, open air and then we're going to travel

(02:40):
to the purdens at the Aerodrome road and have a
look at the air around your carb and dance system.
So just a good opportunity to get out cannet with
other farmers, but also look at some different options, you know,
particularly if you're thinking about investing in the next one
to two years. There's some really good setups.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
As far as one to grazy. We're getting through the season. Now,
how has it been from your guys perspective?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, look, I think pretty pretty good. There's been one
or two exceptions, but you know, ninety nine cents of
dairy farmers have have got one to grazing under control.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yep, we've had a few a few issues and doing
with the wet and stuff, but you know, largely there's
been not too many issues. There's some fat hairs around
fakes and heifers, so you know, again they come out
of well sorry, they'll be going into carving and pretty
good nick which is really good. But now I think

(03:36):
from what I've seen around Southland farmers doing an awesome
job and managing that that wan to graze and challenge
is always raises.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Every grass covers looking.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Well pretty good actually, And as you pointed out, you know,
the green shoots are starting to appear, and I think,
you know, as the weather and sow gets a little
bit warmer, wall start to see some you know, we'll
start to see some positive signs. But yeah, overall, I
think that they're looking pretty good for a you know,
this time of the year.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
If you saw too, we're just starting to creep into
the late sevens, so a few positives there, and of
course the GD two result overnight are left to one
point five percent. That's always a good news story after
a few drops.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah it is. And look, you know, I guess you've
got to expect, you know, as we button off and
other other countries come on with production. You know, this
time of the year is always a little bit volatile.
But yeah, I think it's it's it's good we left
and you know, natural proteins just so important worldwide. So

(04:41):
again I think the the market's probably responding to the
fact that dairy products are the best in the world.
And you know, I think, you know, come next year,
early twenty seven, I think we'll get a bit of
patcher on the other season going to shape up. But yeah,
I'm pretty positive about the mid price for the year.
I guess myne cautiousness is around. We're a cross going

(05:04):
to land, particularly given the recent disruption into the Middle East.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Again, just once again Jared those details around the field
day tomorrow for people.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, so we're at it. We're at the warnocks at
Mocteur tomorrow kicking off of eleven forty five. I think
we've got a barbecue barbecue lunch there to kind of
kick things off, looking at some calving bands, and we'll
also have a neck ward from w Environmental He'll he'll
join us out there and just outline some of the

(05:37):
consenting requirements for off pedic infrastructure projects, you know, including
feed pads, wintering systems and in calving pads and stuff.
So yeah, eleven forty five tomorrow, thirty two Macatur Road.
It's the staying point.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Good on to Jared. Thanks for your Thomas.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Always awesome things.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Jared Stockman out of Derry and Zen. This is the
uster before the end of the hour at Riley Kennedy
up next though, we're going to Riversdale to catch up
with plowman Mark Dyllon see how he's getting on with
this tractor and actually getting it to the other side
of the world has proved a bit of an issue.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Is the child
