Speaker 3 (01:33):
I do like it. It's kind of like an icebreaker.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah, yeah, it's fun.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Did you hear the joke about the football team? Now?
The punchline's a real kicker. Ah, it's not really a job,
you know, it gets kicker in at the end. You know,
I can't bat a thousand, so it's doing ladies.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
We have a topic, yes, in store, but I kind
of wanted to switch things up on the fly and
see if we can do this.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Oh okay, chrispek Okay.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
So I was at dinner the other night and I
was sitting next to this lovely couple. This couple was gorgeous,
and a lot of times I go out to eat
by myself, so I'm.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Literally a fly on the wall.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
So let's talk about the last time you overheard a
conversation and you were the fly on the wall. Whether
you were at a bank, whether you at a restaurant,
you were hanging out with friends and you were just
minding your own business and you heard someone talking about anything?
What was the last conversation that you remember overhearing While
(02:40):
you marinate on that, I will tell you about this
woman would not stop talking during the date, and I
was thinking, oh, man, I feel bad for this guy.
I wonder how they met. They met online because.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
I was really easdropping.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
They met online and she was like, do you remember
the first time you saw my picture? Because I remember
the first time I saw your pitch and he's like yeah.
I was thinking, oh wow, she's beautiful. And then when
I met you in person, I thought, man, this woman
is great. She looks way better than her pictures. And
then she said, oh, yeah, well I didn't think that
about you. I just I didn't really think anything when
I saw you, And I was just like.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Why on a day with this woman?
Speaker 4 (03:19):
It was so interesting to hear their conversation and they've
been dating.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
How did he come back from that?
Speaker 4 (03:26):
He just kind of and was eating his food and
then she just kept talking and he said, well, you know,
you're really busy, and she's like, yeah, but I'll make
time for you. I mean, all you have to do
is just give me like nine days notice nine days.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Cool.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
I'm not making this up. Yeah, nine days. You just
have to give me nine days. I mean, I mean
I'm a busy person. You know, you want somebody who's
going to be busy. I have a lot going on
in my life. I mean, you have lots of time
on your hands. And he said yeah, I kind of
like the idea of not having every single moment of
my life scheduled. I liked that free time and the
(04:00):
flexibility to do whatever it is I feel like doing.
And she's like, well, I can do whatever I want
to do too. I mean, you know, if you want
to spend time, just ask me. I just need nine days.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
I was so shady though that She's all like, oh, well,
you have the time. Like I was dying.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
She was gorgeous though, She was stunning, and he was
just sitting there. He was really handsome too, so they
were a really good looking couple. And I was just
sitting there eating my food, eating my pull apart bread
an eggplant dip, just to easedrop in. And they're getting
ready to go to a festival coming up. I don't
know if it was outside Lands, but they have tickets,
(04:40):
because she was really excited about the tickets. They have
to an upcoming festival, and I was thinking, oh, bruh,
you're in this for the whole day. And then he said, oh,
there was a forty five cent concert and she said really,
and he's like, yeah, it was fifty cent with Nickelback,
and I was that was such a cute joke. Yeah,
(05:02):
and she was like, oh, I don't really like Nickelback.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
The joke just went over her head. Guy, run run,
She is not fun. She is just pretty leave. Yeah,
And that was my fly on a wall experience. But
I just wanted to tell him.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Were you tempted at all? Her glance over and just
give him a I got you. I got you friend,
I got you. I was gonna says you tempted.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
I wanted to tell him before I left, like, hey,
that was a stellar joke.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Yeah. I got the fifty cent.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Joke because he did it and he was so.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Proud of it. And I was like, this guy's kind.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Of cool, he's very handsome, he's kind of cool. He
just dropped a corny joke. This could be such a
great date. Yeah, and you, miss lady are just she
in her own oh man?
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Man, Like it was crazy, but you know a lot
of dates I hear go that way, yes, And I
was thinking.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
To myself, this is how dates go badly, this is
how things end because you're not paying attention to what
he's saying and you haven't asked him anything about himself.
Since I've been sitting here this whole time, You've just
been talking about yourself, and then he'll kind of get
in it a word edgewise, and then you'll just go back.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
To talking about yourself.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
But that was really interesting, a little peek inside the
dating world as a fly on the wall.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
That's a good one.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Well, I'm going to go off of Christy because yeah,
I think I texted you Christy this when I went
to a restaurant by my house, Bambinos, I think you.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
And there was a.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Couple cities next to me and they sit down. I'm like, okay, cool,
a couple sitting next to me. She's like, well, why
didn't you tell me what they were dating? You could
tell they weren't boyfriend and girlfriend yet they were dating.
So you went to Vegas and you didn't tell me
that you were going to go to Vegas and who
you went with and who you were coming back. He's like, well,
I didn't feel like, you know, I needed to tell you.
(07:05):
And then I'm like, wait, are we serious?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Like are we serious?
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Is this really happening? And she's like, well, you could
have told me that who you were going with?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
And how how do I know who you were with?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
And I texted Christy. I think I remember to test
christ I said, Christy, these these people next to me
aren't going at it. And they got really really like
kind of loud and disrespect.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Is their alcohol on their table.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
They had just gotten there and ordered their first drink
and the minute they sat down, the girl was like.
The girl was telling the guy, why didn't you tell
me that you went to Vegas and who you went with?
And so what I gotta I gotta figure out who
you went with? And she was just like already like
mad and angry. And I don't know how if they
what their situation was. It was clear that they were dating.
(07:47):
But he was like, well, I don't have to tell
you anything. And they started getting really loud. But you
know sometimes when people get loud and you kind of
do that glance like okay, you know, the glance over
like and the guy goes, listen, people are looking at
us now because you're over here raising your voice at me.
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna have you raise your
voice on me, and I can leave. And then she
says something like, oh, I'm gonna leave, I'm gonna I'm
(08:09):
gonna walk out, and he goes, yeah, that's what you
always do. That's what they were just going back and
forth at the bar. And she was like, Oh, yeah,
that's what you always do. That's what you always you
always walk away. But I'm thinking, oh, this all this is,
this is not a good combo. Whatever is happening right here?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
And and it was so what happened?
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Did they did she leave?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Did he leave?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Did they just just catch their food and quiet down?
What happened?
Speaker 2 (08:31):
They just kept going at it, kept going back and forth,
back and forth. Oh, well, you're this and you're that,
and when you know what, I didn't do this and
I didn't do that, Well you need to tell me this.
And I was like, oh my goodness, no, I don't
know in public, in public, and I don't know if
they had drinks prior, but they had only one drink
when I when they got there, and I don't know
what happened. I left because it was just too much
(08:52):
for me. I got to get I.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Pulled up a chair and I was pulled up kind
of Okay, you guys, here's what we need to do here.
I'm going to help you out. Yeah, what advice would
you have given them?
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I would say, listen to one another first, don't automatically
jump into conclusions. Give each other a chance to talk
and communicate. My big thing. I've done that before. I've
seen couples go at it and sometimes I'll be like, hey,
maybe he's just trying to express this and she's just
trying to express that. So you guys should just listen
to each other without making a judgment first and just
(09:29):
hear one another out. I've done that before.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
And sometimes strangers are people that you know.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
No to strangers, Yeah, because I don't what situation well,
most of the time, if it's at a bar or
at a restaurant and they're arguing about something, sometimes I'll
jump in. Sometimes I'm mind my own business and then
I'll just text Christy. But you know, I like to
try to diffuse the situation. They didn't ask me for
my opinion, But at the same time, I think like, oh, well,
(09:54):
what's the need for all this negativity and this energy,
this bad energy. Enjoy your time. Life is short. But
that couple that day, though they were they were.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Allowed or they were going to heart.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
They were going at it, and I just said, I
got to get out of here. He noticed that she
was raising her voice and he told her, you need
to lower your voice. Don't tell me what to do,
don't tell me all that stuff. So, yeah, that was
the last time I think I was a fly on
the wall is watching being right next to this couple
going at it. She was not about a Vegas trip.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Ithn't like a Vegas trip To say, what about you,
Mark the Quinn, what's the last time you overheard.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
You're assuming that I go out in public and to
overhear people talking, I honestly can't remember, but I will say, Christy,
for your lady who you said, she wasn't asking any questions,
(10:52):
here are some interesting questions to ask somebody. I subscribe
to this guy, Sahil Blooms Curiosity Chronicle. It's one of
these things that I don't even know why. I think.
My husband sent me a tweet by this guy and
I thought he was interesting, so I subscribe to him.
(11:15):
But then every once in a while, I think I
never even read these, I should unsubscribe, But then as
soon as I do that, I read one and I go, well,
this is kind of good. So here are some interesting
questions to ask other people. I'll just read you some.
And if you're listening right now and you are going
to go out on a date, here are some questions
(11:36):
you can ask the other person that you're with, and
then you, guys, we can attack one of them. What
are you most excited about right now? If you could
put one piece of advice on a billboard for the
world to see, what would it be? And what's been
your best purchase under one hundred dollars? And there's three more.
I was telling me you real quick, if you had
(11:57):
an entire day to yourself, a zero responsibilities, how would
you What have you changed your mind on recently? And
if you could have dinner with three to five people
from any point in history, who would you choose and why? Okay,
that's kind of played out. I'll ask you, ladies, what's
been your best purchase under one hundred dollars?
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Under one hundred dollars?
Speaker 2 (12:14):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Yesterday I was thinking about this because of TMU and
you know, shopping like a billionaire.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
The terrorsts.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Will can.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Basically, there's a curling iron that's battery powered or chargeable
curling iron, and I can literally drive anywhere and curl
my hair. I can go anywhere. I can do anything
and curl my hair because you don't need its hands
for you literally just stick your hair the end of
your hair in and then push the button and it
(12:50):
sucks your.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Hair all lot like curl it like that.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, yeah, it sucks it up in a little cylinder.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
And then it beppeep and when it's done, you just
take it off and it's like beautiful curls.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
I can curl my hair like on the way to
an event.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
It takes like fifteen minutes, and I could do it
anywhere literally, and the curls look great like Salon curls.
And it was really inexpensive. I got it at Costco,
but I found one on TMU for fifteen bucks now,
so I ordered a second one. Yeah, it is a
great curling iron, and it's small. It's only about maybe
six inches tall and maybe an inch and a half wide.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Christy, is that the same? So this is this some
different from the straightener that I always say oh, look,
that's so because you can straighten your hair too, so
kind of the same thing.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Uh uh oh, this is different.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Yeah, you're probably thinking of the another thing that I've
curled your hair with once before.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
No, this is different. This is like the little it's
like a little cylinder.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Well, you don't need to plug it in. I think
that's the cool part.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Now it's rechargeable and then you can just go anywhere
with it and literally one hand curl your hair with
one hand, and that's that's best.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Under a hundred couard bucks.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Yeah, I would say for me.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Yeah, I would say for me because lately I've been
making do you guys know what picco degyo sasa is?
Basically tomatoes onions chilia? Like I have this all in
one chopper that I got off of Amazon. I think
it's about twenty five bucks. Because before I would have
to chop it all, dice it. It's well little pieces that
takes forever. So now I just have the tomato, put
(14:23):
the tomato on the chopper and bam and it cuts
it up and man, it says me so much time.
It is an all in one chopper, vegetable chopper. I
use this thing a lot because it chops up onions.
I don't have to sit there and cut it up
using my hand.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Perfect.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
I just put everything in this chopper and easy, peasy,
easy quick salsa within like five minutes.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
What's the difference between pico degyo and salsa.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Well, there's different kinds of saalsas Piko the coyo is
a kind of salsa, I would say, But piko the
gya is more like diced tomatoes. It's not so, I.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Guess I would say saucy.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, saucy is the word I was looking for. But yeah,
so it's tomatoes, onion, cilento, lime, and chile. Some people
put a.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Little bit of garlican in. That sounds so good. Think
of it like brisketta rosquetto. That's what I was thinking.
It sounds like sort of the Mexican version of brishetta. Yeah, brusquetta.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Are you serious? Yeahsqutto it's prasquetta. Yeah, are you sure?
Speaker 1 (15:33):
I'm pretty sure? Sure, I'm positive there it is.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, don't worry, Martha. For many years I always said,
broshetta irochetta.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Got every restaurant I go into and order broschetta they're
laughing at me. It's prascueta. Okay, okay, Martha Quinn.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
The best thing you've spent under one hundred dollars, best
purchase you've made, super super.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Hot on this item that I have been shouting out
all over the place. You know when you get floss
and it comes in a little plastic case, Well, how
many of those plastic cases have you gone through? Do
you know that the amount of floss that's used every
year in the United States can go to the moon
(16:22):
and back six times every year. And that floss is
nowadays floss is made out of plastic. It used to
be made out of silk. So all that twine a
menace to a marine life. All that twine, that plasticky
stuff takes years and years. I think it says like
they take us seventy years to biodegrade. So I found
(16:46):
on Amazon this little bamboo floss kit. It comes in
a little glass vial with a little top that has
one of those little floss cutters on it, and in
it is this bamboo fluss and I swear it's so good.
And then you get refills and you just put the
little spool of bamboo fluss right in the little vial
(17:10):
when you use it up. And to me, it's more
economical because like when you get the floss refills, it's
like two fifty as opposed to getting a whole new
floss package with that plastic, super good floss. I really
like it. The whole intro kit was like ten bucks,
(17:30):
and then you get the refills for like nine to
ninety nine for four And you can probably get ones,
you know how on Amazon you get something and then
you see ten other ones ye that look exactly the same. Yeah,
you know, but the packaging everything is exactly the same,
but maybe a different name, and they all have different prices.
So I had just ordered this one because it was
(17:51):
the first one that popped up, Like, I didn't realize
that there was these other ones. But to me, it
is eco, it is cheap, and it's fear ty.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
I like that you sound really excited about.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I'm telling you, I was mentioning it all the time
because the Earth day.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I'm happy for you, Martha Quin.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I've seen those curling and I've seen those curling irons
because I cannot do my hair. I'm afraid that my
hair will just I'll just start to hear it, I'll
start to smell it burning, and I'll get tangled and
I'll have to cut it.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
Sometimes it gets tangled, but you just like unravel it.
But that's only if you put too much in. But literally,
it is full proof, and you can drive down the
street and curl your hair.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Maybe you don't want.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
To, not that Christy would do that, No, but not
that you would do that.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
It is fabulous. He's fabulous. All right.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Well, those are some interesting questions that if you're on
a date, and if you're sitting next to Christy, you
better bust them out because she's going to be listening
to how well you do?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Thank you everyone for this fun, fun podcast. Yes, indeed,
life's better when you're hanging by a thread, a fluff.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
And on that. We'll see you next time, See.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
You next time until episode number two hundred and forty
of Talk Talk with Marth Quinn. I'm Martha Quinn, I'm Christy,
I'm Karena Velaska's miss Your Ready.
