Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's another jubile phone frame Mornings on the twenties.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hello, Yes, Hello, my name is Ted Thibodeau and I'm
calling from the ride share app Uber. I was looking
for Luke.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Oh yeah, hello Luke.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I know it's probably interesting to receive a phone call
from Uber, but I'm calling you today because I have
some very important news to go over with you.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Uh, all right, what's the news?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Well, unfortunately, I know that you are a regular writer
with us, and that's why we're calling. We are going
to have to penalize you just a little bit, knock
your rating down a few points, and regretfully informing you
that we have got to knock your rating down a
few points.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
What why, I've never never had a problem.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yes, Well, have you heard the term loose lips sink ships?
What you ever heard that term before? My grandma used
to tell me all the time, Loose lips sink ships.
You ever hear that before? No? It means that if
you're talking a bunch, sometimes you're not paying attention, and
then there's ship. Well, I don't really know exactly what

(01:09):
the phrase means. I've just heard it before and I
used it right now. To be honest, with you. But
what that means is we've gotten reports from our drivers
that you are just a little too talkative in the
backseat to them, and so we are gonna have to
go ahead and drop your rating for being a distraction
to our drivers.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Well, no, I don't even talk respond when the drivers
talk to me.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
We're gonna go ahead and needs you to be quiet
next time you're in the vehicle because you are just
talking way too much, just being a distraction.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
I'm not too talkative. You can't drop my rating for.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Well, unfortunately we don't have to do that. But really,
one of the bigger reasons that I am calling is
because I'm not sure if you're aware, but the city
has added on some extra fees when it comes to using.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Rides with our app. What kind of fees.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Well, there's a few pothole fees, there's a few regulatory
mandatory driving down the street fees, things like that, you know,
some government fees.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yeah, I've noticed the fees are more than the riote.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
What's going on right, Well, there's just a bunch of
regulatory mandatory fees that we've had to add on to
our rise and unfortunately you've taken a few rides and
we forgot to add those on. So we don't have
to retroactively charge your car. It has already been charged.
Just to let you know where that charge is coming from.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
No, do you guys have to charge me? That's not
my problem. I'm not paying retroactively.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yes, we already went ahead and charged your car. If
you look on there, you'll see a twelve hundred dollars
charge that is.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
From US twelve one hundred dollars. I'm not paying twelve
hundred dollars for a potholes? Are you kidding me? Dude?
I already paid like fifty bucks a riot. I'm not paying.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Okay, you're in combative here with me a little bit.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
You should try to charge the twelve hundred I'm not paying.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Well, I went to hit and bumped you down. Now
two star levels on your rating ded just because of
the attitude.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Who's star levels or not? Yes, this is ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Well yes, now I just had to charge the extra
two hundred dollars on top of that because the profanity
the profanity fee.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Okay, I'm not paying to I'm not paying any of
these charges. I'll just go to lift. What the fuck.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Okay, that's that's another two hundred dollars dead. It's two profanities.
So if you can watch the profanity on that, because
I can't have to charge you every single time.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Just like, who are you? I'm not paying this money.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
So I'm so sorry about this. But your Uber account
is now dead gowned. What? Yes, your Uber account is
now dead and gown. I'm so sorry about this, but
we can no longer be right that dead and goull
that's what the term I use when something is no
longer they anymore broken, things like that. So YOURBA account
is now dead and gown. I'm so sorry about this.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
This is your drivers. Won't shut up. Now you're trying
to charge me all this money. I'm not paying this money.
I've been a loyal rider for years and then you
call me telling you you're lowering my rating.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yes, well, your girlfriend Terror, Your girlfriend Terror, she can
have her account. She's the best Uber rider we have. Actually,
her rating is this skyrocking and every day she's wonderful.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
What how do you know who my girlfriend is?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Oh, that's because she asked me to do this phone
prank on you. This is actually Jubil from the Jubil Show.
Doing a phone brank on you and your girlfriend Tara
set you up.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
She said that you've been ranting about the fees on
uber and wanted to mess with you.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I cannot believe this. I thought I was gonna have
to pay like two thousand dollars wake up every morning
with jubile phone pranks

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
