Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's another jubile phone frame Mornings on the twenties.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Hello, Hey, this is Peede Deacons calling from branch. I
was looking for the bride to be Gina.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Ohay, hi, hey Gina. How are you? I am good.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Are you excited about your nuptials coming up this weekend?
I really am. Yes, we're very excited, and I'm just
calling just sort of some last minute prep with you.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
The thing with your sister. How exactly do you want
that done? What?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
What do you mean? Well, I think it's really cool,
by the way, and a lot of brides wouldn't do this,
so but we're just a little confused about exactly how
to do it.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Uh what are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
What to do?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
What the double wedding? Double wedding? What what do you
mean it's double wedding.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, your sister is going to surprise everybody by also
getting married that day. At the same time, I thought, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
No, no, no, you.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Must you must tell somebody else.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
That's no, no no.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I just spoke with your sister actually a little bit ago.
She recommended that I give you a shoot. I wasn't
supposed to tell you. Oh no, wait, yep, sorry, wait,
hold you spoke with my sister, my sister Julie. Yes,
and if you could do me a favor and kind
of forget that we had this conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
No, no, no, no, no, no no, I need to
know what you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
What do you mean double wedding?

Speaker 1 (01:32):
And what did Julie say? What do you mean? Dang it?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
No, what do you mean? Okay, I guess there's no
way to walk this back. I okay, if you could
do me a favor and not share this with your sister,
I was not supposed to say anything, and I kind
of messed up my notes.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah. So apparently super exciting.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So when the efficient at your wedding says, you know that,
does anybody have anything to say? Your sister there was
going to announce that she also is engaged, and then
they were going to come up there and her and
her fiance meet you and your groom.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
No no, no, no, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
No no no, no, no, no, no, no no no.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
This is my wedding. This is my wedding and your
sister Are you talking about my sister Julie?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
No, this is my wedding at the first part. Yeah,
and then when that happened. Also, I'm going to ask
you not to tell her. Remember I was supposed to
tell you she's been planning this.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
I want to call her as soon as I get
off the phone with you, because I'll find out what
the hell you're excited. I'm like, sometimes you know that
big sister little sister thing. Well, she will not upstairs
me on my own wedding. Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (02:39):
This has got to be a joke.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I'm getting ready to call her right now. We're gonna
figure this out, because whenever she told you no, no, no,
there will not be a double wedding. It's my wedding
between me and my fiance.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
That's it. Okay, well, good news we are.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
You know she's going to pay for half of that
part of the ceremony, so you'll get a little break
on cost.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I don't give a damn. We could have been planning this.
My fiance and I have been planning this for like
six months. This is our time, our wedding. A week
before the wedding, I'm heard about that. How did I
not know that?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
How can I not know that? Now?

Speaker 1 (03:18):
How much am I I'm supposed to go through the wedding.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I'm supposed to go through this.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Like I don't know what's going to happen. No, hell no,
I'm getting ready to get her on the phone. That's
not happen. Before you do that, what's not going to happen.
That's not going to happen.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Okay, well, before you get her on the phone, I
will let you know that this is actually Jewbel from
the Jewel Show doing a phone brank on.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
You and your sister set you up. You know what,
It's a joke.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Why why did do to that?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
We grow out of that. You always you know, you
made a big sister, that big brother. I always liked
to pray. I always like to prank the little so
that would be funny. Maybe Tom Barber. Right now, I
kinda like, you know what, I'm gonna kill you both
that congratulations on your wedding.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Gosh, wake up every morning with jubile phone Franks

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
