Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's another jubile phone frame morning. Hello. Hi, this is
Billy Talbot, one of the administrators here at elementary school.
I'm looking for Tyson's mom. This is she. Hi. Your
(00:20):
name is Charlotte correct? Yeah, yes, hey, Um, do you
have a minute to speak with me? Um? Yeah? Sure?
Is everything okay? Like type? Is he all right? Yes,
he's he's fine. I'm not calling because of anything that
happened with him. Um, I'm actually calling because he shared
something with us today that was alarming and I needed
(00:42):
to call him. And what did she share? Well, as
you know, costume day for Halloween is coming up. Yeah
I know. Yeah, Well I was speaking with his second
grade teacher, you know, miss, and he shared with her
that his costume was going to be a peanut. Yeah,
he's this funny fascination with it. A few issues. One,
(01:03):
we can't have any peanuts on campus at all. We
have an allergy problem. So so I'm calling to let
you know that he's going to have to find a
different costume. And I know there's not a lot of time,
but we cannot allow him to come to school dressed
up for costume day as a peanut. Are you aware
that the costume is not made out of actual peanuts.
That doesn't mean that it doesn't resemble a peanut. And
(01:24):
so you're I don't know if you want to break
the news to your son or if you want me
to break the news that he will not be allowed
to dress up as a peanut for Halloween. It's not
going to cause any children to go into anaphylactic shock.
I don't know. Peanut allergies are very bad, and I've
heard of people that can have a reaction just from
the side of a peanut, So the side of a
peanut costume could set them into a major allergic episode.
(01:46):
Maybe you should like cost to a doctor or a
medical professional other than just a possible allergic reaction from
your son dressing up as a peanut for costume day.
It's incredibly offensive and insensitive. The peanut is insensitive. Can
you even hear yourself? Let me just sort of let's
see if we can put ourselves in someone else's shoes
for a second. Okay, because it sounds like you might
(02:07):
have a hard time doing that. Oh yeah, no, that's
my problem right now. You just play along with me,
or for a moment, imagine you're in Tyson's second grade class. Okay,
your name is Charlotte. So Charlotte, you're sitting in a
desk in your second grade class, and you haven't a
peanut allergy, and you used to love peanuts until you
found out you had one. You loved them up, didn't you.
And then Tyson, when your classmates saunters in the room
(02:30):
wearing a peanut costume, and it reminds you of all
the peanuts that you can't have. I'm sorry, are you?
Are you trying to tell me that my son can't
dress up as a peanut because another kid in the
class might have a peanut allergy and it would hurt
hurt their feelings. Yes, it's incredibly insensitive to those who struggle.
(02:50):
My eight year old son can't dress up as a peanut,
and you're going to tell him this because it would
be too difficult and toole for you and your feelings
and your peanut allergy. I do struggle with a peanut
allergy as well, which is why I'm so strict about
it here at the school. It would be incredibly offensive because,
(03:11):
like I've told everybody, I've sent memos, I've talked to everybody,
I've talked to all the students in a big assembly.
No peanuts on my campus. I don't care if it's
a costume. There will be no Peanuts Araubbie ever, because
I'm busying peanuts. I'm sorry about that. Okay, you evidently
have a lot of issues. This is awkward now, but
(03:32):
you know what, it did feel good to get that out.
You are clearly insane. You're crazy. I'm calling the superintendent.
All right, Well, don't do that, because this is actually
Jewel from The Jewels Show doing a phone break on
you and your husband. James set you up. It's a joke.
He said that your kid wants to be a peanut
really bad for costume day, and you worked super hard
(03:53):
on a peanut costume, and he wanted me to just
be an oversensitive teacher who wouldn't let him wear it.
Oh my gosh, I cannot believe. But now that I
think about it, it is pretty insensitive to those of
us who struggle wake up every morning with jubile phone pranks.
