been since your date with Darren?

Speaker 3 (00:20):

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Otle confused.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Yeah, well two weeks to be suck in your head
sucks just wondering what happened.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
That's a long time.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I said it just because I feel you, Bella, I
understand the frustration of why you wanted to call us.
Was the last time you talked to him on the
date or did you guys have any exchange afterwards?

Speaker 4 (00:43):
He like texted me like thanks for coming and those
nice and stuff, and then I said thank you, and
then he never I like said like good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
A couple of days later and he didn't say anything.
I mean, he.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Booked us a reservation this place, and he had been
really really excited to go. It was like a French
place and had like white table cloths and chandeliers and like, oh,
there was like a jazz trio and it was it
was really nice. Yeah, and he seemed excited to go
and yeah, so we met and like he was really

(01:21):
cute and we got along, like we shared an obsession
over like old heist movies and stuff. So I mean
it was going really well from what I thought. But yeah,
the thanks for coming a little weird.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
That is weird.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Did you guys do anything after the restaurant or was
that the entirety of the date.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
No, we went to the restaurant and then we went
to his place. We had like a little night cap
and we actually made out, okay, and yeah, and he
like lit candles.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
It was really nice. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
He he would like play a song that he liked,
and then I would show him a song that I liked,
and we were like really vibing, and I feel like
it was like electric, and so I don't know, I
don't know what happened.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I like left the date. I was like floating. I
like knew there was going to be a second date.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
He got along so well in like two weeks, and
I'm kind of spiraling.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Understand, what do you say at one Oh, sorry, go ahead. Oh,
I was just gonna say, what do you think could
have gone wrong? I'm sure you thought about a lot
of scenarios over the last two weeks.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
I just I At one point I told him that
I like didn't shave my legs, and he like laughed
and like pretended to cut his hand on my legs
double and stuff. And I don't know, we laughed about it,
but maybe he grows oud about that, or did I
talk about my cat too much? I like went to

(03:05):
the restaurant at one point, and then when I came back,
he was like, oh, I'm so tired.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
All right, Well, we'll see if we can figure it
out for you. We'll play a song, come back, and
then call him and see if' tell us why he's
ghosting you and maybe get you another day. Okay, totally
all right, di's your first day follow up.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Next.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
If you're just joining us for today's first Day follow up,
Bella is on the phone and she's getting ghosted by
a guy named Darren. So we're about to call him
and Sefa tell us why he's ghostinger and maybe get
her another date. But first Bella, Why don't you break
down your date for us again real quick.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
We went to a friend's restaurant. It was really nice.
We had like similar interests like old movies.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
And music, and then we.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Like went back to his place and made out and
it seems great. It seemed like it was going great,
but he didn't call me back.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I wouldn't worried.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
It was like that, I didn't shake my legs, like
I talked about my cat too much.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
But I'm really confused. I like went to the bathroom.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
When I came back, he was like, I'm tired, and yeah,
I heard from instance.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Well are you ready for us to call him and
see if I tell us? Okay, all right, here we go. Hi,
I'm menspeaking to Darren please.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, what's up?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Hey Darren? How are you? This is a radio show.
It's called The Jewel Show.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Hi, Darren.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I'm Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria and my name's Jebel.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Hi.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Hi have you heard of the show before?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah? I think so.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Okay, that's cool. Well, guess what you're on the show
right now because we do a segment that's called the
first Date follow Up. That's where if you go out
on a date with somebody and you end up ghosting them.
They can get us on the phone to call you
and ask why you're ghosting. And we got an email
about you. Okay, any idea who would email us?

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Uh? Yeah, maybe, but I don't want to Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Maybe, Okay, Well who do you think it is? I'm
not you don't want to go first? You want me
to tell you it is?

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Bella?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yep, all right?

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Is that who you were thinking?

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yes, that is I was thinking.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Okay, Well, Bella emailed us and she said she really
liked going out with you, but she's confused. Do you
mind telling us why you're ghosting?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
He yes, okay. She stole my dental floss and got
all proud of it.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
What stole your dental Yes, it was so weird, like, okay,
so when we got back to my we got back
to my so whatever after at the end of the day,
and then she got up to go to the bathroom
and I saw that she had one of those big persons,
like a big Mary Poppin's purses.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
It was just like full of forks and knives from
the restaurant. We were just that it was so weird.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
So because I asked about it, and she was like, well,
you know, like I always take a little something from
every place I visit. And then she like showed me
the floss that she just took from my bathroom.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Whoa, okay, so she's a collector.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, or a collector.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
She was like, she's like, this is my souvenir from
the first night at your place.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, Like was it a single floss or like was
it the actual like floss.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
The little box, you know, like the little plastic Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Okay, And you didn't find that flattering, would you do?
Maybe it's a it depends how I was presented. I think, yeah,
I'm probably I.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Probably would, to be honest, but yeah, it's okay, what okay,
you want to remember this night?

Speaker 2 (07:08):
That's special. So it just like creeped you out, I guess.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
Yeah, I just don't want that, Like I just don't
want that kind of energy around. And I honestly, I
didn't really know what to do because I was like
I want her to like steal more important stuff or whatever.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
So I just kind of you know what I mean?
So I just called it.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Well, darent, thank you for telling us why you're ghostinger.
Now I'll let you know that Bella is actually on
the phone and wants to talk to you.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Wait what she's uh gonna's why would you hi? Hello?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Okay, I just think I feel like that's like ridiculous,
like you ghosted me over that. I don't know. I
feel like I was being cute, like I all your
floss like as like a thing that we could bond over.

(08:05):
Kind of like it's cute that we met and.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
You had like a whole pop you have.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Like a whole pod like childwick flaws.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
It's not the floss itself, like I can get new flaws.
It was the fact that it was so like you
were so flip about it, like it was just like, oh,
this is just like a little something I do. I'm like,
it's just like that's not cute to me.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
Like there was a dessert spoons like sticking out of
your purse, Like that's that image just stuck in my head.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
What do you do with those?

Speaker 4 (08:38):
I'm just like sentimental and I mean with the silverware,
I use it, but like I like to take a souvenir.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
We went to a.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Really cute place, and I just don't think it's that serious.
People steal from cutlery from restaurants all the time.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
No, no, they don't, they don't. They don't do that.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
Maybe people get like extra joss sticks from like the
takeout place, like wood and wonder whatever you're taking like
full on silverware and a dates sloths like zoom.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Now that's weird. Well, I have a.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Friend that you can take those cups, like those glasses
that you get from like breweries and stuff.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
She'd pocket those. Yeah, that's so literature from a bar
before see from a bar.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
I do feel like that was when I was a
full picture my jacket, different thing. Okay, sorry, I'm trying
to help Bella.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
Yeah, I mean if it's a fancy restaurant, they can
afford more silverware, and like you know, it was an
expensive date. So I I don't see the problem honestly,
And like, yeah, I have a bunch of fancy silverware.
Now they're like cute and mismatched, but like fancy.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
They all tell and they all tell a story.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Yeah that's called stealing.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Okay, I don't know, it's called making memories to.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Me, that's mine larsening, all.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Right, whatever, I guess we just don't agree. Yeah, like
property is just property, but love is.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Love, you know, like.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
That, and if you can, if you connect with someone,
it doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Yes, I can think you with somebody, I wouldn't steal
from them. Oh you took my floss too, This is
a weird thing to take. I guess in my mouth
it's creepy. I feel like it's fine. Gloss is not
that expensive.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
And I was being cute and you're I feel like
you're overreacting. But I also told you about it, so
I wasn't really stealing, you know, because I was telling
you what I was doing.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
You don't get points. You don't get points for telling
me about it. I get I can't steal a car.
Then go down to the police station be like, hey,
by the way.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I took this car. Oh you know, you're off the hook.
I wasn't trying.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
I wasn't trying to get points. I was trying to
create a long lasting memory. You know, we could tell
our kids about it or something.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Hey, Darren, would you like another day with Bella? We'll
pay for it. She really likes you.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Uh no, I'm good, all right?

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Like, if you want to send me your address again
so that I can send you back your floss and
your comb that I.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Took, I knew, Oh my god, that.

Speaker 2 (11:29):

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
