Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Cody Cast, Cody Allen's podcast. Colton and Cassie
are here where it crashed by ply in Mexico. Literally,
we found like a bench here and we're just like
huddling under this hut for a couple of minutes here,
having a future innks and hanging out for a bit. Um.
I want to talk about the book uh that Colton
has coming out, talk about the experience of being on

(00:21):
the Batchelor a little bit, but most of all about
country music, because I didn't know until recently you guys
were both country music fans. I met you at the
a c M Awards and it was weird because I've
just seen you on TV, Colton, and you came over
to me, and it's like one of those times where
I feel like, oh my god, Tom Hanks. It's like
You're like, oh my god, I just saw you on TV,
like last night, literally, and now you know who I am.

(00:44):
Have you had that experience that before, where you like
someone famous has come up to you to introduce themselves
to you. Man, I feel like it's it's definitely happened.
And there's been moments that have caught me off guard
like that, and it's so it's crazy when we're at
Pople's Choice. Yeah, there is. I don't know who it was.
It came up to us, but we are both like,

(01:05):
how do they know who we are? Like, and these
people are so talented and like that's almost like we're
like sort of feel dirty. We're like we went on
a show and you know, but it's entertainment. I guess
it's entertainment world, entertainment business. So um, it's honestly, it's
it's a very humbling experience. Yeah, it must be. I
haven't only seen a little bit of that, um in

(01:26):
my life, but to have the kind of like popularity
that you guys have had over the past couple of
years and like be at this level. So is it
is it easy to walk around here? Or do people
like stop you or how's it go? Um? I think
it's easy. I mean most people are very respectful, say hello, cheers,
you know, and we keep on our way. But um,
it's just nice being able to see people smile. If

(01:47):
they want to stay stop and take a photo, then
we do that. But um, I think it's just the
show is so unique that they feel like they know
us personally. So I mean I see why, you know,
I see why they relate, and it's a good time.
I know, it's funny. We'll be like, do another thing
with Colton's family and they'll come up and be like,
oh my gosh, how are you? And meanwhile I was

(02:09):
dancing like a goober and I gotta worry about videos
are out there. I love Colton's family, by the way, um,
and I only knew them from the show, of course,
but now that I know them personally, I like them
even more, only because they're a They're like a party.
Like it's like four people and their friends and it's
like a gigantic party on the road. I feel like

(02:31):
I haven't seen them in this kind of atmosphere ever
before either, and it's fun. Yeah. I come from a
blue collar, like really hard working family, So to be
able to see them like out here letting loose and
having good time, and that goes with everybody. I mean,
there's so many hard working, beautiful people that are like
work ahole x. So seeing them out here and just
be able to let loose and the fun, that's what
it's all about. Very often just no, this is so,

(02:53):
this is my dad's annual trip. He's been coming here
I think since the very beginning, and this year he
invited me, is like, hey, it's falls on your birthday,
so we gotta come out here and like just celebrate
and have a good time. And we're like why not?
So we're here. Nice. Your dad is Simon's cheers for tomorrow, right,
because yeah, your family has a theme every single day,
which is exciting. One day is a Cheetah theme. Um

(03:17):
that tomorrow is what tomorrow is going to be American Day. Okay,
so we have to wear American bassed swimsuit whatever America
means to you. So for us, we are wearing a
short denim swimwear. At least I am she's wearing. I
have a million swimsuits at my place, and I was like,
I'm not buying the other one, so what can fit American?

(03:37):
I made him buy a denim bathing She didn't want
to spend the money on the bathing sitsues, she had
me go and do it. Yeah, it seems like it'd
be uncomfortable for a swimsuit. You know, it's actually a
pretty comfortable wing. So it's stretchy. It's kind of like
a I hope mine stretchy. I haven't even tried it on,
so I might be walking this morning. I learned that

(03:59):
we'll see. So what's Friday? Then? If tomorrow is us
a day, Friday's theme would be rock and roll, rock
and roll, we have a rock and roll theme. We
have neon, we have white, and we have too many
themes for the day. So far we have too many.
I know there are four, and I was trying to
plan whatever we feel like fits us best that day

(04:21):
depends how much hawkwe the day before. I feel your girl, Um,
yeah know, I love that your dad came out and
set up chairs by the way early this morning because
he was apparently five. He started at five am. Was
he drinking at five? I'm pretty sure probably, yeah, something
something like that. That kind of guy. Um, what is
it about country music that sort of like brings people together?

(04:43):
Because I think there's something to that. And by the way,
there's a similarity between sort of the Bachelor fans. I
think in sort of fans of country, you're kind of
one of the same. I feel like I think it's
a crossover because at least for me, you know, I
feel like when you hear a country artist songs, you
really you get to know him her. Um, you get
to feel their story. They're so raw and so transparent.

(05:03):
I think in a weird way, that's how filming The
Bachelor is. I Mean, we're real people who sort of
get thrusted into this unique environment where you sort of
have to be vulnerable. And that's what a lot of
these songwriters are today. Um. So we're just I mean,
we're very honored to even be be able to call
some of them friends. Um. But it's been such a
cool time for us as last year, and we've really

(05:24):
gotten to know some of you know, our favorite people,
and they're good people. And that's what we found in
Nashville and in country music is. Um, they're just incredible
human beings. So we will support them to the day
we die. There you who were some of your favorites?
Who do you like? Obviously Luke Bryant must be, uh
those We've got Aldine here as well at Jason Eldone.

(05:46):
Of course it is like Britney, I know your false
with that whole family. So who else do you like
in the world? Count who your faiths? Um? Well, we
were in Adam's music video, Yeah love him. Um. Tyler
Fillmore has been a buddy and we actually ran into
him a c M S. We we ran into him

(06:08):
and we're like, hey, you want to grab runch tomorrow
and we would grab brunch and before you knew it
was four o'clock and we were at a blackjack table
the whole entire day day drinking and it was it
was awesome. Um. But I mean you go down the list.
I mean, Russell Dickerson and his wife Kaylee are absolutely incredible. Yeah,
the young family now, Umm, so happy for them, life

(06:28):
changing year for them. So um. The fans of the
rhets for sure. I mean just the morals and the
values in the country industry is something that they're just such.
I feel like, no matter what's going on in your life,
you can talk to them and relate to them on
sund some level and it's just cool to have them
as friends. Out I had a conversation about YouTube, and

(06:50):
it was about the video and how famous by the ways,
so slow that he has out at the video out
with YouTube and it and how we just sort of
called you on a whim hoping you might want to
be in the video, not knowing him, not really knowing
the song. But I said, I kind of feel like Adam.
They're the kind of people who would want to be
a part of something great. And I knew he was

(07:11):
making great music. So the fact that it kind of
all came together and that you guys were willing like
it was incredible. Yeah. I mean because we were listening
to it. I mean, we've told this story a million times.
I don't even know if you want us to tell it,
I would love it good. Well, we were listening to
it on the way back from a trip to Aspen
that we went on in Denver, and we heard the song.

(07:32):
We're like, oh, wres this a catchy song? I don't
know what it is, but we like it, and we
listened to it over and over again and tagged out
a minute. Next thing, you know, he sent us, and
he sent us the acoustic version. It wasn't out yet,
and then a few months later he ended up contacting
us and we were in his video and we just
go to Nashville, spent the whole day hanging out, getting dinner.

(07:55):
We've never been to Nashville at that part. Like I
had popped out real quick, for it wasn't even for
the see amazing year before. I just popped in for
a day for an appearance and back out and she
has never been. So we went out for two days
filming music video. One day sort of walked around and explored.
The second day, um with the with the city. So
everyone was so fun on set. I didn't feel like

(08:16):
we were working at all. You could relate to that
song right away when you heard it, was like, obviously
your story a little bit, A little bit, yeah, I mean,
I think everyone has a different take on every song.
That That's why I love country music too, is because
no matter what song you listened to, you're gonna have
a different take on it and you're gonna relate to
it in some way, which is why I think so

(08:37):
many people who live in the country just love it. Um.
But no, that one we just felt like people were
calling us famous and we didn't feel it at all,
and we're like, okay, and famous such a weird concept, right, Um.
I mean, it's one thing to work hard and have
your talents you know, praised or you know, excited people
excited for you. Like, that's all great, and the love

(08:59):
in the sport has been amazeazing, But fame in itself
is still a weird thing for people to navigate because
it doesn't do it doesn't do anything right. It doesn't
change the way It shouldn't change the way you live
your life, shouldn't change who you are as a human being.
So we're still navigating that, and I think it's so
easy to get caught up in, especially living in l
A and being around you know certain you know things

(09:19):
out there. So um, like she said, it was a
unique time in our lives and it fits us perfectly,
and it was such an amazing opportunity. Any tips on
dealing with that, like coming from an unknown to now
being someone who is famous. Any tips on like how
you navigate that world? Try? Any tips on that stole

(09:43):
my dream? Do you notice that? Like I had to
dream here? Have you had a sip of it yet? Made?
Like I said, it's a really good yes, thank you,
thank you? We can we can. Um. It is um
and I think people deal with that the phenomenon of

(10:03):
now reality television and reality stars and like Instagram starts
forget television, right, I mean they're happening all the time,
so um, people are jumping into that world. Is it
is easy to navogate? I mean, obviously is it? It's
definitely a huge life change because I think before going
into it, I had no idea life would change that much.

(10:23):
You know, you don't expect it to. Um, But I
think that one thing that's kept me grounded so much
is keeping the same people around me and staying close
to my family and my constant friends and having a
relationship that really grounds me and not forgetting like, don't
be entitled. You know, everyone's just a person, even if

(10:45):
you get annoyed that you know, you get annoyed in
situations like don't because they're just people and they're excited
to see you. And and I talked about it a
little bit in my book, UM. I talked about how,
you know, there's a section where I get to thank people,
and I think the Randolph family for letting me come
in and flip their lives upside down. I mean, that's

(11:05):
basically essentially what happened after this show. And I talked
about the battles of really struggling with still finding yourself
and still figuring out who you are and what you
want out of life while you're dealing with this, and
it was overwhelming for me, and I struggled with it
at a time. So, UM, I don't know if there's
any really advice that you can give anybody to tell him, hey,
but I would say my thing, just stick with the

(11:27):
people who were there before it all, you know. I
can't wait to read that chapter of the book, which
by the way, is coming out of March, March thirty one,
at very end, very end of March, and it's called
the first Time, the first time. And on the show
we know you as the virgin Dash sir say you're
not anymore? We get talked about that. Did you get

(11:50):
that eventually? And in the book if you want, I'm
just like, we have to throw it out there. We
have to ask. I'm a great journalist. I think that's
all job. Your job, your job, add like awkward you
about my award. I think your awkwardness is like if

(12:13):
there were ever a trophy given for awkwardness. But sometimes
you have to go there and ask the awkward questions.
I respect to try. I'll give the awkward answer and
be like, well, I don't know, I don't know. I
feel like if you and Colton hosted something would be
really great because not only do I think he's super

(12:34):
talented and articulate, and like I love that he's a
great philanthropist. We've learned that about him over the years,
like he gives back as often as he can, which,
by the way, let's um, let's go ahead and pimp
the philanthropy effort you're doing. You know. Yeah, Well we're
still traveling. I'm still traveling across all fifty countries right now.
And um, I'm giving a vest away through my Legacy Foundation,

(12:56):
and we support the battle against cystic fibrosis, which is
a chronic in a terminal illness. But um, yeah, so
we're making strides, and some great strides have been made
in the last five years, so we're excited for that.
It's awesome. UM. I love what you're doing. And I
also love Colton because he's um he answers my calls.
You know, your friends are if they'll answer your call.

(13:18):
Am I right? If the phone just rings and you
have to leave a message and maybe they don't call
back till three days later, Like what kind of friend
is that? Like I need a friend. Now. I'm literally
in the middle of a photo shoot right shirtless, sitting there,
just got my hair touched up, and he calls, so
I answered. It was like we got you know, we
have some time before this next shoot. He brings it
up on air saying like, what are you shirtless? And

(13:40):
I'm like, uh yeah, where are you? I know he
was completely joking. I was like, where are you? Where
are you at? Are you? Are you here? But it
was a good call. No, but the fact that he've
been answered while he was working and doing other stuff
like that meant a lot. So I I and I've
recognized that him that about Colton over the years, like
two like He's always like there for you, and I

(14:00):
think that's the sign of a really decent human. So listen.
I love you both so much. Thank you for dropping by.
I just wanted to uh give you a little shout
out here on cheet today and everybody about the book.
Good things to come from a Colton Cassie. Thank you
so much. We'll see tomorrow in my USA. I can't wait.
