Speaker 1 (00:00):
Podcast from Welcome to Cody Ellen's podcast. I'm really excited
to talk to these guys. Love them brothers, Osborn, John
and t J are on the line here. This is
what I mean from my guest room at my house
during the quarantine. It's a little weird. It's totally weird,
but it's like, God, it feels good to get kind
of back in the saddle, if that's what you want
(00:21):
to call this. But I was so excited because over
the weekend I saw John at the Yeah you did.
I saw you at home. I was getting um when
you get some outside dining tables. We're spending so much
time at home that it's like he's like, vibe the
place up. And I saw I saw you all walking
down the down the aisle, and I was like, oh man,
those dudes got their masks and I gotta put mine on.
(00:41):
It was like, what what had happened was what had
happened was when I walked into the at home, the
little band that holds it behind one ear broke. So
I was like kind of like tying it around my
ear and the girl, I'm just gonna throb this thing
real quick and get out of here. And then I
was like, I saw y'all. I want to put my
mask on real quick so I don't look weird. I
(01:03):
hear John, I was like, yeah, and you're the second
person I saw in there who didn't recommenze that everyone's
wearing damn masks. And it was it was you, And
I was like, okay, I heard you before I saw you,
because usually the gay your voice carried throughout the entire store.
And I was like, everyone, I swear to you. I was,
(01:25):
iis was over And I was like, I know that voice.
Who is that? God? That is hilarious. I love it,
you said, I could be telling that all the time.
Your voice carries ended up like these big parties back
in the day, and uh and I mean they would
be just pull on raiders, people screaming and just like
people playing instruments, and you didn't hear over anything. Was
(01:48):
just John talking I don't know, at a normal volume,
like a block away. Well, I knew it was you,
and then I was like I have to say hi.
And then I also felt like that's like the last
place I ever expected to see John Osborne, Like it's
a home decorating store, domestic. I didn't know you know
(02:09):
I'm domestic, but I was there was I mean to
be fair, I was there with Lucy, just there for
the muscle. She do you want to buy? Okay, I
lift it up and I loved that we were both
in sort of the masculine part of the store, the
outdoor area. So yeah, the outdoor, but it wasn't like
the outdoor. It was the outdoor kitchen. It was also
(02:30):
not at least it wasn't like the floral section or
something weird. It was one one always, one isle way.
It was fun. Um. I'm so thrilled that you guys
have a brand new song out and brand new music coming.
All night is such a jam. So have you guys
been holding onto this for a while? Yeah? We wrote
this last year, UM, and all the songs we had
(02:53):
pretty much for the most part finished last year. There's
a couple that we wrote earlier this year and uh,
and the song was done um by the end of
the year. We had a couple of mixed changes at
the beginning of this year, but before Christmas it was
pretty much done. And there's some video out, some teasers
that we put out, so all of that was shot
long before Quarantine, long before UM isolation and stuff like that.
(03:15):
So we've had people be like, I thought you're supposed
to be six feet apart. I'm like a shot in
August or whatever, or no in November. Uh so yeah, so,
and the record is pretty much entirely done. It just
has to be mastered. And there are more bangers on
there are what's the rest of the project, Like yeah,
that's you know. With with Courtstaying Show, which was our
last record, we decided to kind of it was this
(03:36):
was pretty chill, we were on the beach. There were
a couple of big songs, but overall was a pretty
tool record. We wanted to have this record reflect our
live show, which is full of a lot like big guitars,
really loud, big band moments, guitar solos and all of
that stuff. And um, it certainly reflects the rest of
him and we have like a couple of down tempos,
(03:56):
but for the most part, it's a it's a bang
on record. There's a lot of big songs. Good well,
I can't wait to hear the entire thing. I mean,
I feel I think they'll love it. I think All
Night would be like the perfect zone that like open
up a show with whenever that actually happens. Again, well,
I know we've actually we've actually talked about that, like
man right from the show with us and well exactly
whenever whenever that happened. I did see you guys are
(04:16):
a pencil in for a Gulf Coast gym in September though, um,
which is in Penama City Beach, Florida, which is I
usually go to that one as well. Um, so is
that going to happen? Do you think what's the guessing
on when we get back to normal for you guys.
I mean, we've been saying that it's definitely a situation
where we're kind of uh hoping for the best and
preparing for the worst. And you know, I think we would, God,
(04:38):
we would be stalked if we got to tour by
the end of the summer or at the end of
the fall, even if it was like a couple of
select dates. But I think probably it's starting to feel
more and more like realistically it's going to be the
next spraying. But that being said, you know how God,
things are changing week by week at this point, so
I'm hoping that there that everyone starts drinking their clorox.
(05:01):
Just get how how things been going in quarantine. What
have you guys been doing any new new discoveries, new hobbies,
new shows, new movies. I think everyone, I mean, I
think the one thing that has united us all as
we have all seen Tiger King, which was the greatest
way that kicked off of pandemic UM and then but
(05:22):
you know myself, I've always been into art. I've started painting, um,
and that's what I've been really getting into. But when
this all started, we were almost really like ninety five
percent down with our record, so I was a little
music out, you know, I didn't really want to didn't
feel like writing. I kind of just was a little
burned out by it. It's kind of tired, and painting
was like a great substitute for that. UM. And I'm
(05:42):
doing stuff around the house. I mean, we're very hands
on types of people. Like I just changed out switch
all the outlets and I'm sorry, not the outlets of
the light switches to like automatic dimmers like that kind
of thing. I love doing stuff like that. And TV
is the same way. And TV has been cooking up
the storm. He's like, you know, it's like the next
you know, um. Michelin Star Michelin ready to star. Um
(06:05):
a chef of Nashville and he's a crushing making steakes
and Bernese sausages and do you name it? So you know,
you know, we might just we might have quent music. Now.
I don't know, could you have imagined being quarantined when
you guys were kids in this situation, because I feel
like kids are being affected sort of differently by all this.
I mean, it's just like an extended summer for a
(06:27):
lot of kids, I think. But I kind of wanted
that because you know, our dad actually talked about it
and he and he was saying how he felt like
there was this is gonna be like a golden era
for a lot of kids, where they're gonna remember being
with their families a lot and being with their parents,
and um, you know, I'm kind of curious. I feel
like if we were kids and with our dad, and
I mean, he would have made it so fun. And
for a minute, it did feel like just one really
(06:49):
long snow day and every day we were just like
partying and we're like, oh my god, you know, we
got time off. And then the kind of reality set
in and that's why it's good to be you know,
be on the radio talking with you right now. It's
nice to feel like, Okay, we're getting something done here. Yeah,
because I feel like I haven't accomplished much myself. I
feel like I know I was saying, but that's that's
(07:10):
also a good feeling for putting out this new single
right now. I feel like at least we're not on
the road, but there's there's something out there. Well. I
think it's such a good song and it's a beaten um.
It's got energy, and I think people need that right now.
So yeah, in the spirit of the song here um
like the lyrics say I got the all, if y'all
(07:32):
got the night. I was thinking that we would play
a little quarantine snap games. So for example, if I said,
I got the peanut butter, if you got the blank,
of course I got the catch up. If you got
the blank, I got the bread. If you got the blake, okay,
(07:52):
I got the milk. If you got the blank, I
got the dip. If you got the blank, I like that,
I got them you got the chip. I like that.
I that down. Finally, I got the ice. If you
got the blank, Vanella, did you say? I like that?
(08:20):
But I throw it back all right. You know. I
love you guys. I can't wait to see in person.
