that if you took a trip to your local cineplex,
there'd be just as many comedies on screen as there
are other genres. But over the last decade, comedies essentially
evaporated at the theater, with almost all debuting on streamers instead.
But that changed with the recent reboot of The Naked Gun,
and so did the box office expectations. It's earned more
than fifty six million dollars in counting. The movie has

performed well, and it proved it has to empower a
rarity in this era, continued to rake in money based
on very strong word of mouth, and Seth MacFarland, who
produced A Naked Gun, thinks it sends a clear message
to Hollywood execs, telling you, the Hollywood Reporter, take risks,
make movies that aren't just reboots, though ironically this one is.
The lesson is that people want somebody that's outside the
usual fare. We're just so deluged with superhero movies at

this point. It's like Bill Murray and Groundhog Day, and
he wakes up on that last morning and says, anything
different is good. People just want a little more variety
on their plate. The naked gun in theaters, that's direct
