Speaker 1 (00:00):
Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest. Colin Farrell received some
of the best reviews of his career of his portrayal
of the villainous title character of the Penguin in the
Batman spin off series, but before the show, he had
a brief but memorable appearance as the penguin in the
movie The Batman. Director had Matt Reeves. Though Colin admitted
to a crowd at the Zerik Film Festival, when he
first read the script, he wasn't very interested. He thought
it was too small and a silly character. But that

(00:22):
changed when he still agreed to meet with Reeves and
was shown the character design a much more human interpretation
than what he imagined. Colin says, I'll never forget it.
Matt opened up his laptop and showed me the first
time I saw it, the cogs started turning. Everything in
the script became clear, every little pockmark. The character was
ferocious looking, but I could imagine every aspect of the
character's life, even moving ones. It just gave me so

(00:43):
much information. I can do five hours a day riffing
as a penguin, and even my sense of humor changes.
That's Colin Ferrell's new movie The Ballad of a small Player,
coming out October fifteenth, that's direct from Hollywood

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
