When Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars linked up in the
studio the very first time they got together.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
The end result was the number one smash Die with
a Smile.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
It's not surprising magic was in the air that night,
but Andrew Watt, who produced it, shared to people a
little competitive energy may have been floating around as well.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
He recalls, we were.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
In the studio that night making it until five am,
and Gaga had something to do at eight am, but
Bruno really wanted to vocal produce her and be involved.
She so graciously allowed the process to happen. Just sitting
there and watching her and Bruno interact, it was like
watching Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson. The interaction was so special,
The competition between them was so healthy and great. I

will never forget them going back and forth while she
recorded her vocals. Must have been a pretty amazing thing
to witness for Andrew and be part of such an
instant classic.
