Speaker 1 (00:00):
Direct from Hollywood. Reese Witherspoon has been involved in storytelling
since she was a teenager, first as an actress and
then as a producer, eventually running her own wildly successful
production company, Hello Sunshine. But for her newest story, she's
pulling from an even deeper place as a novelist. Reese
just started the book tour for her debut novel, Gone

(00:22):
Before Goodbye, and told the crowd on its first stop
how her personal life all led up to this moment.
She says, my entire creative career, I stepped into other
people's visions. There was already a book, or already a
movie or a director, and I'd come in and play
a part. So I thought, why can't I be part
of making a whole world. I know how to structure things,

(00:45):
I know how to get from the beginning to the
middle to the end. But it was a big leap
for me to jump in and go, Okay, I can't
just bow out because my part's done. That's Reese Wetherspoon
on deciding to co write her first novel, which is
about a surgeon, because she wanted to be one growing up.
Gone Before Goodbye is out. Now that's direct from Hollywood,
