Guys, I've always wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby.
I've never gone to the Kentucky Derby. I probably I
don't know if I will ever go to the Kentucky Derby.
But like a couple of years ago, you guys, remember
I went a little double date to Turf Paradise.

dress up and get into dress And Scott, my husband,
he doesn't ever want to do anything, so he was
not thrilled about that. So I was like, it's Saturday.
And like the last few weeks, whenever we've had a
Saturday open, we have friends of ours that have kids

our same age and we all hang out like it's
just this thing we do, right, and Saturday, we don't
have any plans, and so I'm like, hmmm, I have
a great idea. Yeah, in my head, I'm planning a
Kentucky Derby party, right, And yesterday I told Scott what
was happening. I was like, just so you know, Saturday night,

We're doing a Kentucky Derby party. And he got so
visibly irritated. He goes, what, like, who are you inviting
to this thing?

And I go everyone?

And I did that on purpose because really, the only
people are the people we were gonna hang out with anyways, Like,
it's not like a big giant party. We're just like
gonna dress up and have Kentucky Derby themed food slash,
maybe even beverages. Might try my hand in a mint
Julip Scott like sermon.

So it would work. That's the drink I forgot.

And so I did that on purpose because if he
thought a gajillion people were gonna be over at our
house and I just tell him it's just one family,
it would soften the.

And then when the kids got home from school, I
was like, you guys, we're gonna do it.

to do that. I don't like the Derby. I was like,
you don't even know what the Derby is. I don't
know what the Derby. So what I did was I
was like, Okay, I got to get them psyched about
this because if they're into it, like like, it's just
gonna be.

So last night I googled what is the best Kentucky
Derby movie for kids? And apparently it's Secretariat. So I
find out that Secretariat, which I had never seen before.

No, I think that's Sea Biscuit. Oh that's a good one, Biscuit.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Okay, So I was thinking Seabiscuit. And then when I
googled which one was the best for kids, Secretariat came up,
and so found out it's streaming like free if you
have Disney Plus. So I turn it on at dinner
time and the kids are like, what is this because
it's kind of an older movie, right like this and
it's set back in the times when Secretariat was racing,
which was in the nineteen seventies, so it just looks older, which,

you know, kids, that's sort of a gamble. To my surprise,
the kids were totally into this movie, and I had
never seen it either. They kept asking me all these questions.
They were totally engaged in the movie, and I'm like.

I kept having to say, I don't.

Know, I've never seen this movie. Either I'm watching it
for the first time.

Actually a Secretary joke is made in the movie because
because in the movie, it's like this lady and her
mother passes away, and her mother and father have this
horse farm, and she she ends up believing in the
horse farm instead of just selling it off and ends
up raising Secretariat, who is still known to this day
as like the most iconic prolific racehorse in the history

of racing, Like still holds the record. It's a true story.
This horse still holds the record at like he's the
he had a triple crown, but at the derby he
won by thirty one horse length.

that doesn't really matter. I just move the time that
everyone comes over.

By the way, Seabiscuit I remember, because I remember Sea
Biscuit won all these Academy Awards and I was like,
are you serious?

And I went to watch it and it was freaking fantastic.

and she was riding out all the names of the horses,
and she loves horses. She had a horse ride once
and that horse apparently was named Sandman, and there is
a horse named Sandman.
