Speaker 1 (00:00):
John Jay and Rich We are like a whole John
Jay and Rich.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
If you listen to our afterwards podcast, I was telling
a story about a bunch of different situations I was
in with. You know, I think I'm an introvert. I
think I have like some serious, uh social anxiety.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
You think I can't concern it.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
And I was talking about my experience with Tommy Lloyd.
You know, you have a basketball coach and what a
what a nice guy he is, and how I wish
if you missed the podcast, I'll give you a quick recap.
He asked me a question and I was so not
prepared for it that I want to change my answer.
So on the podcast, I called him, but he was
he didn't pick up. I think I might have called
him too early, but he texted me back and I
thought I would just call him right now.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Hello, Hi, is coach Tommy Lloyd available?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
No, I'm sorry, you've got the wrong number.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
I do. Well, Thank you very much, sounds thank you
so much. Bye bye.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Yo yo.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Coach John Jay, John Jay, what's up?
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
So listen, I have you here first, Welcome morning, I
have you here with the whole show. You got Rich
Kyle Peyton and me. So you're on the air, Hello,
good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
I love that, and the iHeart thing pops up with
my voicemail. My heart stops.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Well listen, I was telling this story yesterday on our show,
and I was like, I was talking about how you
know I was with you on Saturday, right, And and
I've said, I don't know if I've said this on
the air now before in the past, but you did
something with me that no one's ever done before.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
And and I was.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
So impressed with you were asking questions about me, and
that's never happened before.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
No one ever asked about me.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Well, well, you know, here's the deal background. But your
son put me up to that because you know obviously
you know Dutch is coming to be a student manager,
and he's like, Tommy, I know my dad gives up
these weird like creepy uncle Rico by.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
But I'm actually a good kid, So please interview my
dad so you don't have any questions about my character.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
I don't know how true that. And'll let me tell
you this. What you asked me was my favorite concert
that I've ever seen?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
You remember that?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah, yeah, no, no, no, you're in right right, Hey,
that was obviously totally a.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Joke, but you're right, yes, okay, good, I'm got there
was a joke.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Because I was gonna chew Dutch a new book.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
So you you were you asked you, I mean seriously,
you asked me stuff about what time I wake up,
all about the job, and then you're like, hey, so
what's your favorite concert? And I was not prepared for that,
and I and I gave you an answer which I
still stand by, but I have more to that answer,
and it's been bothering me since I left, Like I
even brought it up here to everybody I go here.
Because you said your favorite artist. You said, contrary, your
favorite artist, right, and yours were Yours were a Tom
(02:58):
Petty Beastie boys, right.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah, yeah, I mean the two of my favorites. And
we'll throw Beck in there, you know, okay, gotcha? Yeh,
those are favorites.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Okay, So I'm sitting but I've been obsessing about this, right,
So to me, it was like you two because you
said concerts or were you specific about artists just my
favorite artists?
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I think we talked about both, but like you know,
like we went, we were definitely talking about artists. You
told me about you getting to what you got to
take a picture with you two and you ask your
wife to step out of the picture.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Well, after I took it with her, she's in the picture.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
And then I wanted to one just me and the band,
you know, but hey, so I have more because I
really you two is great, right? But I also wanted
to say that in this I loved I went and
saw Hollan Oates. I thought Hallo Oats were fantastic in concert.
I know that's maybe a little out of touch. Lionel
rich Lionel.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Richie is pretty amazing.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
But also, and this is the part that was killing me,
is that it's kind of a concert.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
But it was.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
It was Kanye West like a year and a half ago,
came to Footprint Center, sold out Footprint Center and all
you need is play tracks office phone.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
And I thought it was amazing.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah that's wild. And was it like fun or was
it like awkward?
Speaker 1 (04:07):
It was fun. It was so different.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
It was and the sound was incredible and the vibe
was just amazing. Now this is of course, you know,
pre him going off the whatever, going off the rails,
this is it was just phenomenal. So I had to
have some peace, and I had to tell you that,
and I was so grateful for you to spend the
time to talk to me and ask about me, because
that's never happened before.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Well well, thank you, thank you for saying that. But now, hey,
I got one very similar concert story. Okay, So when
I was about twenty, I went on like a kind
of a walk about. I went down to you remember
when the BC Boys used to be do a Tibetan
freedom concerts. Yes, and they were like a huge yells.
They'd bring everybody together. They had one in Golden Gate
Park at San Francisco.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
I couldn't find a.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Hotel room, so I was literally homeless for a couple
of days. You know, for a kid from my small
town to be homeless in San Francisco by myself, it
was that. It was a crazy experience altogether. But Beck
played and this is right around when The Loser came out,
that Mellow Gold album. And you know, Beck went up
there and he knows, you know, he's a very eccentric,
you know, creative guy, and he played his songs. Everybody's
(05:10):
like play Loser, play Loser, and and so what he
did he literally took like a ghetto blaster or whatever,
you know whatever we used to call those things. Hit play,
put the microphone next to it and walked off the stage.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Oh wow wow.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
He but to me, he said, Hey, I'm a lot
more than this one song. I'm not a one hit wonder.
I'm an artist. And I thought that was really cool.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
He's like, I'm also two tuned tables on a microphone.
This got some jams. Yeah, he's freaking amazing.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Oh, he's amazing. He's amazing.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Hey, Tommy, you're a favor.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Tell me you got to watch the show he did
inside Prince's studio like The Lives said he did inside. Uh,
Paisley Park is lights out awesome.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
How do I How do I get it? How do
I find it?
Speaker 5 (05:59):
It's on YouTube. Just look at back at Paisley Park.
It's a whole It's a whole thing, like for the
release of his new album, and they taped it all
like in one session at Paisley Park.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
It's really cool.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
No, I got it to that for sure.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
And I was telling John Jay this weekend. He said
he never went to a BC boy concert and I
was like, what, how do you not go to a
BC boy concert? There's a really cool show out there
called It's called Awesome. I have been shot that where
they gave like two hundred cameras to fans and the
fans filmed the concert so it's shown from the fans
perspective in Madison Square Garden. Amazing, amazing documentary.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
That's sick.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Hey, how many interviews have you done that are not
basketball related? This has to be the only one.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Not enough?
Speaker 1 (06:42):
All right, good, all right.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, I'm gonna say I'm.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Sick of talking about the transfer portal and nilah.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Just talk about BC boys and Beck you got it.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
All right, We'll let you go.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Thank you for jumping on there with us, and I
guess you can jump on.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
There with us next Wednesday too. We'll be in the
studio hanging with us too.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yes, all right, thank you, I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Thanks Coach, talk to you. Man drives safe Yep, any
a nice guy. Yeah, he was a kidding. Duch is
going to be on the team.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
I'm so excited because I was I was telling you, like,
because you were like, oh, Dutch's going to go to
u of A and he's going to party, and I
was like, you need to get him locked in with
the u of A men's basketball and I'm so glad
because guess what now we get to go to uf
A men's basketball games.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, he's first class coach, Tymy Lloyd, John J and Rich.
Now it feels so much better than I got that
off my chest.
