Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't know how you found us, but I'm so
thankful that you did. It's John Jay and Rich. Good morning, Jessica.
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hey? So I had a question for you. So we
rescued a dog about a couple of weeks ago, and
he was found in like the middle of a field
on a construction site, in a crate and all just
matted up and filthy, and I couldn't leave him, so
I took him home and he's he's the perfect dog, honestly,

(00:31):
But the one issue that I have is that he's
got like a he's very very he's very attached to
me now, and he's got this severe separation anxiety that
like he's howling outside by my neighbor's house when I
take the kids to school and he's just crying, and
I mean, I have to go to work. And so
I was wondering with your rescue if if you've dealt

(00:55):
with that with other dogs, and what do you think
I should do?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
So you found the dog yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
He was found by like a worker that was going
to check on his crew and he was driving through
this field and literally found him in a crate, all filthy.
He's a little silky terrier and he was just stilthy
and matted up in this filthy cage. And he posted
about it and on Marketplace randomly, and I was on

(01:23):
Marketplace and I saw it and I was just like,
you know what, just bring the dog to my house.
I'll take him.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
So let me give you my advice, as I guess
some of an expert in rescuing dogs, because we've had
a dog that had that before. So what we do
is we put we would put our dog in the
crate when we left, and then when we come home,
you take it out of the crate, you love on
the dog, You sit on the sit on the couch
of the dog and watch TV and you do whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
There's also a website that is it.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
I just checked. It's dropped. It's it's out right now
and I think they're going to update it right now.
And it's a website because my wife, she gets questions
like this all the time. So they came up with
a website called love pop Plus. So if you go
to love podcast dot com and you sign up, it's
free and you can ask any kind of question and
it'll give you all the answers you need to know.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
If my answer isn't enough.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I thought maybe you had a German shepherd, because the
German shepherds have massive separation.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Oh really, I didn't know that they liked.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah, this is just he he's like such a sweet,
beautiful dog, but he's just that's the one issue.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
So he's afraid of being alone because look what happened
to him, you know what I mean for a while
at all.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
No, I can't. I work it in a restaurant, so
I can't do that. But my husband does work from home,
so he's here. It's just something that we're going to
have to try to work through. I just took the
kids to school and I watched him on the camera
and he was just crying and crying. So my husband
got up and he put him in his crate. And
so while he was in the crate, he did fine

(02:49):
in the crate.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
See see if she could she put like a shirt
or something like that that smells like her in the
crate with the dog.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
We were thinking about that, my husband mentioned yesterday. My
I guess my worry is right now. Just I mean
I might work, you know, just during the day shift
it would be like four or five hours, but night
shift it doesn't matter because my husband's here. I don't
want him to like have to like go to the
bathroom and not be able to be taken out.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
So would you at all consider it, maybe resigning from
your job.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
No, no, I can't do that. No, I can't do that.
But you know I'm dedicated to him. So I took
him down. We had him all groomed, we had him microchipped,
we got him neutered, we got all of his shots done.
And he's so loving. He's the sweetest dog. He follows
every command. He goes to the door when he wants

(03:44):
to be let out, he wants to just like sit
with somebody. He's whining right now because I'm not paying
attention to him. I mean, he's great, and he's great
with our daughter, our little four year old.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
So well, it sounds like you got a great dog,
a great dog. Just be patient and trust me.
