Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, so this is pretty cool. First of all,
we also get we got a what do we have
a two hundred the dollar gift card? Rediev over here
just a little bit. But first, it's funny that somehow
there's a good chance that this show could be connected
to the NBA.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's about time fingers crossed.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Peyton, what's the story far from the beginning?

Speaker 4 (00:19):
You woke up, well, I woke up this morning. No
really cool opportunity. So over the weekend I had the
chance to interview for a in arena host position for
the Sun's G League team.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
So the Phoenix Sun's G League team, correct, what do
they call the Valley Son The Valley Sons?

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Okay, So basically, if you don't know, like the G
League is a team or a program within the NBA
that kind of has players that aren't exactly like NBA ready,
but they kind of get ready. Some kids or some
guys get pulled up to play in the league. Sometimes
you just playing the G League. A lot of them
play overseas like that kind of gig. And so I
had the opportunity to essentially do like a live audition.

(01:01):
So on Saturday, they had a preseason game and it
was not open to the public. So I had my
first interview just probably about a week and a half ago.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
It was just a zoom interview. Made it through to
the second round.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
So it was three of us girls that had made it,
and we essentially like battled it out during this preseason game.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Oh really yeah, like live on the mic, live on
the mica.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Literally like simulated an exact game as if it would be.
They turned off the lights, they had the PA announcer,
they were doing all the stats, they were doing all
of the stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
So you're hyping a crowd that isn't even there exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
There was probably about forty people in this five thousand
seated arena.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's not at the Matchbook Center, no what making mortgage.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Match up, No change the name.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
It's the Mullet Arena right by a CEO.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yeah, okay, that's a great. Great. So there's three of you,
do they put you on?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Each of you have your own mic at the same
time you're interacting or to okay, Peyton, you go and
you do something.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Well, So there was two mics and we would kind
of alternate. So I had my own mic and then
they shared mic.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Okay, okay, So what did they What was your audition
would they tell you to do?

Speaker 2 (02:13):
So?

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Okay, So, like I said, it was the preseason game.
So one of the very first things that we had
to do was like, Welcome Valley Suns. Fans were so
excited to kick off season number two with you guys.
We're going to start off with a Saturday party. And
this party starts with the best G League fans something
like that. They give you a script, Yeah, they gave
us a script to read over.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Yeah. And then also like a lot of it was
ad lib and banter. I hosted a game that kind
of stuff, that kind of game. So the game that
I had was like the.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Wheel of free Throws, So we simulated like one of
the people that was working there was my contestant, and
he had to spin a wheel and basically whatever like
whatever item he landed on, he had a shoot, said
free throw, so he landed on the granny shot, so
he had to make a granny shot from the free
throw and had thirty seconds to do it.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
One person horse. But the wheel tells you what which.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Will tells you what she gets to do.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
So whenever I'm there, there's there's a way that the
people always say T shirts that I find annoying, and
it's like anybody wants a D shirt.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
We definitely did some.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
T shirts throwing, So could you not do that.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
I won't say it like that. I'll keep you in
the back of my.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Mind, just like that again, Rich.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
So it's up you and the other two. And when
does the U League.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Start the first official game for at least the Valley
send I believe that it's the eighth and the ninth
of this month, but the first home game is November fourteenth.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Do they know like your background in basketball? Like to me,
just on paper, if I was those people, I would
look at you and go She was a divisional in
college basketball player, she played high school state championship, all
this stuff, and she's on the radio. She got personality
on paper, I'd be you're a slam dunk. Are the
other two in media or the other two?

Speaker 5 (03:54):
One of so?

Speaker 4 (03:54):
One of them she has been in radio before, like
on the promotion side, but never really did anything like.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
On a mic.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
And then the other girl she was from like the
Midwest area and she's actually done in arena hosting before.
And I mean she was polished, like she's definitely my competition.
I'm like, oh, yeah, she's good. But like I said,
I'm crossing my fingers in my toes because You're right,
I was the only one with the basketball background, and
I was really excited coming into it, and I'm like
still kind of like, I'm still nervous right now because
it's like the two things that I'm the most passionate about,

(04:22):
you know, that are like coming together.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Did you watch the basketball game last night?

Speaker 5 (04:26):
I sure did.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
It was that that amazing?

Speaker 5 (04:28):
It was insane.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
It was so fun to watch like Coapte who played
for Perry who's from here, that got to go out.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
He had a thirty point game.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
I think that's like the second highest freshman like ever
to have that amount of points in.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
A basketball game. So that was awesome.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
I also saw that your son Kemp had a huge
upset against Boise State, which is they called.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
The game that my son that my son's team won
by one point. They called it one of the biggest
upsets in college basketball. Host it was huge because their
division fun their Division two school and they be the
Division one school, and it happens.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Like D two teams beat D one teams all the time.
But like that game, was just electric. It was a
high scoring game that was fun to us.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
Saw a lot of clips from that.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Okay, so let's give Peyton a situation.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Okay, Okay, So you're into the readervous five thousand people
the Valley Sons are playing.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
You need to find you need to find the active
people to get out.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
You have two T shirts to give a you gotta yeah,
so you got people, and you gotta do it like
for real, don't go hey Valley Suns.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Like I mean do it like you're really on the microphone.
You stand up. You need to stand up.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
You got T shirts to give away, two of them,
we're gonna get away with.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Hey, we have these extra T shirts you gotta give away.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
You really have thirty seconds of this break.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Let's go.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
Okay, all right, Suns Nation, get up on your feet,
get loud, be probably have two three Valleys.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Shirts. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. That's fun. Who
that T shirt?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Let's call the people that make the decision and and
and say, hey, you're on the radio.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
But is it the Phoenix Suns organization? Yeah? I you
know that Matt each guy he changed the name to
Matchbook Center, right. I sent him a DM. I hey, bro,
can you change it back to America West.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Arena in America West is not even.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
I'll just do it. I just do it just so
much easier.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
Just throwback.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
You know they do throw back jerseys. Why not throw
back names right for you by calling it the wrong name.
It's okay, I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
I'll be here to educate you.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Mullet Arena. You cannot forget the name of Mullet Arada
because it's the best hairstyle.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
So we have a two hundred fifty hour gift card
thank you to the NBA.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
So what's the treat you got to get? This tribute question? Right?

Speaker 4 (06:46):

and was part of an off season trade that sent
him to Houston.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Who is it.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
All right?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Give the answer to Peyton's NBA trivia question. You're getting
two hundred and fifty dollars in the NBA. You got
to give us the first name and the last name.
Here's Alex Warren, John, Jay and Rich. We have a
two hundred fifty dollars gift card from courtesy the NBA.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Right, Peyton, what's the details of the gift card?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Okay, so the details of the gift card. You just
have to answer this quick question.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Wait, okay, don't say you because we'll pick up the person.
D Are you there? Okay, the question is Peyton?

Speaker 4 (07:40):
This former Suns player was the top scorer last season
and was part of an off season trade that sent
him to Houston.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Who is it, d direct?

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Correct?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Yeah, John, that is absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
She's a rich lady. Now, she's sure.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Do you just want two hundred and fifty dollars to
get your game on with the NBA on NBC the
Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at
night only on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Way to go, d Congratulations, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
By the way, we got we got tickets to a
Sun's game in an hour. Right, we give away Suns
tickets today. Yeah, oh boy, we're just dialed. Look at
we are so dialed into the NBA and the Phoenix Suns.
They have to give Payton that job.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
They have to.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
I'm not gonna get my hopes up right, So.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
The job was it doesn't affect this job. It's in
adish too. It will be helping you're not.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
I love you guys.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
So, uh, it'll be the in arena host for the
G League, for the Phoenix Suns.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
And so a couple of scenarios.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
I think, Nick, you have a scenario because if you're
the host, a lot of times there's a TV timeout
and you got to be ready to go, right, So
what do you have for her to try?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Nick? Yeah, I kind of thought about this, guys.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
Any you know, anybody can hype up a crowd when
it's a close game and you're tied and it's like
the final seconds of the game. But how are you
gonna hype somebody up Peyton when if the Suns are
down by like twenty in the third quarter and there's
a full quarter left and you have a sold out arena,
how are you gonna get those people going?

Speaker 5 (09:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Well, what I would basically say is I would be like,
come on, Valley sentence fans. We all know basketball is
a game of runs. This is a ten bucket game.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
Right here, This is easy. We got this. We got
Jayden Shacklefield over here.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Yeah, you're using the leguage bucket games. Let me give
you a scenario. Okay, you're about to go on.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
It's the fourth quarter, there's five minutes left, it's a
tie game.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
You just got a text with your mom. Your dad
had a heart attack on the mic.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
You gotta give energy, but your dad is in the
hospital right now, almost about the flat line.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
I'd be like, all right, ladies and gentlemen, it is showtime.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Show time. Yeah, let's pray for showtime.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Let's get those that was so dark start. I'm sorry you.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Weren't the one leading the audition. There's three minutes left.
You just found out Kajem was in a car accident.
Show put that out there. Your Weddy's been canceled, shoe.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
You can't even I think I would cry at that point.
I'm not going they forget about.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
I guess we'd have to go to I've never been
to a league game. I haven't either.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
No, I've thought about going the summer league because a
lot of G League summer league, right, I've most gone
to a couple of Summer league games.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
They were speaking of basketball.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
So my son, Dutch is a manager for the University
of Arizona and he's a freshman, and the team went
on the plane with a bunch of sponsors and they
went to Vegas. Dutch and three other managers drove and
they decided to go to the game, and they got tickets.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Right behind the bench.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
You could see Dutch straps games, screaming and yelling do whatever.
I woke up this morning and Dutch was at home
all his friends and they left whatever. They got home
at two o'clock in the morning, and I think they're
getting up right now because they got to be a
practice at nine or something this morning. She drove from
Vegas and they crashed at our house just to get
a little recess.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
They go back.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
I'm a college kid. He's going to be fine.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
I know he's gonna be fine. But it was just
funny when I woke up and I'm like, something's weird.
There's keys on the counters or a car I don't know,
and I'm like, what car is that? And I look
in and there's people sleeping everywhere.
