Speaker 1 (00:00):
Saying it will tell it's not the same thing. I've
staying it at the Fisher House. The Fisher House, I know,
is a huge part of land recovery for somebody like
my husband, For them to know that their family members
are being taken care of, that's a huge part and
off of them so they can concentrate on their therapies.
Just having that assurance that no matter what, as long
as we were there for antson, that someone would be
(00:22):
there to take care of us. It took so much
weight off our shoulders. How can you help? Go to
Fisher House dot org pre shafety remaining let trying. I'm
sure to watch your kids of your blue frod frod,
(00:58):
frod frod. So it is Monday, Friday, Mornay was Anthony.
I'm Carla Marie And if you don't know, we are
the brand new morning show here at Power. This is
it's like weird because we go from doing the morning
show to this and it's like everyone here kind of
knows us. We read say your name, Yeah, most people knows.
But if you're new to the podcast, maybe you happen
to pond it on the Roosevelt's website. Maybe you're on
Power dot Com or I Heart Radio. However you got here,
(01:21):
thank you very much. Yeah, but it's just oh and
also feel free to stay as long as you like.
You don't leave and don't go because we'res still here.
So this weekend, first off, this is our first full
week in Seattle. Yeah, and carl Over, you have big news.
I've found an apartment, So ground of applause for you
for your apartment. But I have no furniture. That's fine.
At least I have a place to call your own. Yeah.
(01:43):
I have a refrigerator where I can put food in
it because I have been doing nothing but eating and
drinking and I need need food that's healthy. Yeah, because
I can use I can use just like a complete
detox of everything that I've I've had. It's been rough.
I'm only able to wear yoga pants now because jeans don't.
So now that brings me us to the next point. Um,
(02:06):
what are you going to wear to l A then?
If that's the case, because we are going to l
A for the Heart Radio Eighties party. Yeah. Yeah, it's
like Tears for Fears culture Club. Rick Springfield, Joe, Bruce Springs.
I wish that would be awesome. Um, but I don't
know what I'm going to where I have a romper
that's kind of loose fitting, but um, I don't know
(02:26):
if it's gonna sit all right. Well, if you were wondering,
if you follow us on Twitter my Day Friday on Twitter,
if you follow us there and you were wondering why
we decided to make this week's theme West Coast Rap Songs,
it's because we're going to l A, which is the
home of West Coast Rap, right, So we decided to
do that, and we got some good submissions, and we're
trying to do this thing now, which turned out to
be way more work than I thought it would be
(02:47):
the song Train, which was someone tweeted us and said,
you guys should call it song trains. There's also song Centipede.
I like Song Centipede. I just feel like the human
centipede reference is just a little too gross. Humans, human sense,
what a movie's just go it, give me sense, don't
cause it to actual in everything. Okay, well this is
your song actually first. Okay, so you wanted regulators, right,
(03:10):
and we're gonna so what we're gonna do with this
song train is we're gonna start here with Regulators by
Warrengy and Nate Dog, and then every song we play
thereafter will be connected. So here's the first one, Mama.
It was a clear black Knight, a clear white moon woman.
He was on the streets trying to consume some search
(03:32):
for the eat so I can get some phones of
the LBC girls. They don't need to tweak or so
that's one of the most i'd say iconic, especially West
Coast hip hop songs of all time. Now then yeah, now,
(03:55):
the next song we're gonna play in a little bit,
we'll have either Warrengy or Need or somehow be related
to the song we just played. So follow along and
that song or that was your song. Yes, so if
this is song Train, then I'm technically the conductor. That
you're not the conductor. I'm a bitch. No, you're not
the conductor because it was my idea. So trained was
(04:16):
my idea. If you okay, this is the second the
second time we're gonna argue about this. Now, what happened
last week, which was our first song Train ever with
all the cover songs, was we had a couple of
cover songs that we like to do, and then I realized, Wow,
we should totally link, this, said Carla. No, Anthony myself
was the one who figured out that some of the
(04:38):
songs we're gonna link, and then we we continue to
link them. And then you said, and I'll give you
credit this, You're like, oh, we should make this a thing.
We should try to do song train. So, yes, you
decided to make it a recurring thing, a recurring theme.
But the original idea of song train was my idea.
So I am the conductor. I'm the one who gets
all the clips. I'm the one who put sit all together.
(05:00):
I'm the one who loads it. Yes, that's another thing.
So Carl mar and I have spent basically like every
minute together since we left New York and hopped in
the U haul. Yeah, I'm trying to think of when
we were not together. When I got my nails done. Okay,
there's one. There's one time very nails done. What it
(05:21):
was I sleeping? I don't know what I did. You
went and took a nap okay, which is very much
like um. But being from New York and coming out
to Seattle, I feel like our bodies are finally getting
used to the time difference. Because it was only three hours,
but you don't realize that, Like it's eight pm for
us here and then it's eleven pm at home, so
your body is ready for bits a lot. I know,
(05:41):
I last week was going to bed at like six
seven o'clock. I also think because I have no one
left to text at night, because by the time it
rolls around to nine o'clock our time, it's midnight back
at home. And we don't really know that many people
in Seattle. Yet if you are in Seattle, you're happy
to be listening. So do you just stay up and
text people? It's such a weird thing. Of course I
do text Tam Texter. Anyway, you know, let's go into
(06:04):
the next song. So the next song, we have the
last one we played as regulators and that was your
um suggestion. Now that was Nate Dog and warreng Gy.
Now in the next song we have Nate Dog and
Dr Dre and Snoop Dog. So see this is the theme.
One song carries over into the other. This is uh,
let's play the next episode. Dre. You know, we're mopping
(06:32):
with the d obleg straight off the street, kick up
the beach, right to him in your fleet to feel
does how you feel whoop, who get the woods, trying
snoop chronics, dock in the back, stepping on Jack in
the strap, tipping through coom tingle, Whoo, we are flying.
(06:55):
So this is and this is again why I chose
this theme and why I am the song conductor right.
Thank you. So that song was from Chris on Twitter.
Thanks Chris. And for anyone who from my day Friday
who has called us Christmas one, yeah, Power, thank you
very much. It's cool to see everyone call and interact,
(07:17):
and you know we're still getting our feet wet calling
ourselves out, but call us. You want to give them
that number, So actually write this number down two oh
six four to one. You can rewind it if you
miss it. I could just say it right now, two
oh six four to one, nine three nine three. So
if you ever hear us on our heart radio, if
you're listening in Seattle on Power three, feel free to
(07:38):
call in about whatever you want. If you happen to
be driving you see something crazy or someone's pissing you
off on the road, something really cool that we got
this week, very adult ish of us, as we have
our first office. Oh yeah, so I've never had an
office ever, We've had desks before, but never an office,
like we have an actual door that locks. I had
Elvis's office when I was back, but it wasn't yours,
(08:00):
wasn't mine. But now we have our own office together.
We basically we kind of do share a desk a
little bit, but it's like a big yeah. But Carla
Mury decided to have a gigantic rolling chair that hits
me in the back every time she moves this. It
will cause a lot of bites. I think, yes, And
if you've actually watched, if you follow the Carla Murray
(08:20):
on Snapchat or Radio Anthony on Snapchat, you'll see how
annoying Carla Mury can be when you're stuck in a
very small space with her for hours. I did a
tour of our office today though, in our desk, if
you want to check that out. It's pretty cool. Did
you did today? That was today? I don't know that
was today. My days are coming together. So you mentioned
(08:42):
before how we were eating like crap bad bad, like
it's it's bad. And every day I tell myself, I'm like, okay,
today I'm gonna eat well and I'm going to go
to the gym, Like this morning, so we have a
meeting every single Friday thirty West Coast time. UM. It's
like a whole meeting with our whole staff about things
in the radio station. Like we just found out that
we're going to be doing a Mecklamore contest on UM.
(09:06):
And right before the meeting, we went downstairs to the
little whatever coffee shop restaurant they have down there, and
I saw a salad in the window. A premated sound
was like, you know what, maybe I'll do a salad.
And I looked up and I saw a pizza and
I was like, you know what, I'll do the sausage
the salami pizza instead, which Carlin Bray then called big
SLAMMI pizza I did. I said, I think I'm gonna
get salami pizza. I didn't say I want pig SALAMMI.
(09:28):
That's kind of what you said. Play the next song.
We're going insane are So the last song we played
was next episode, Dre Snoop and Nate Dog, because the
song before that was Nate Dogg and Warren G follow
Me here. So I went to see what she did there.
Nate Dog and Warrengey, Nate Dog, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dreight.
Now this was from our our buddy I and T Shanks, Californi.
(10:18):
So that was the third song on our song trend.
We went Warngy and Nate Dog, Nate Dog, Dr dre
and Snoop Dogg and now Dr Dre in Tupac. All right,
I think I may have messed up at some point,
but oh I did. No, I didn't. We're good. I
didn't know the next song we're playing, and that was
for me and Shanks. You grow something up. Your sister
texted you the other day, Right, So I get a
text my sister that says I have a great topic
(10:38):
for your show. I'm like, what is it? Because usually
my family comes up with these ideas that we would
never ever do. They just don't get it. She's like,
I'm currently sitting in Starbucks. My friend's Steph is on
her first date. It's a tender date with this guy,
and I'm just here to monitorate. And I was like, oh,
does he know you're there? But he didn't know she
was there. So my sister was being a stranger in Starbucks,
drinking her coffee, sitting there while watching her friend, and
(11:01):
sending me snapchat pictures. Do you know how long she
was there for. She was at least for an hour
just sitting there. I feel like, I think that's a
very good idea. You want to make sure that you're
the person meeting up on Tinder or Bubble doesn't kill you.
But I kind of think it's like I almost like comforting,
not even in that sense, but just like you know
someone else is there. I feel like you could be
more of yourself that I don't know. It's just weird,
(11:23):
Like I would like knowing that someone else I know
is there, but then I would probably start giggling at
some point knowing that they're there, and it would be bad. Well,
I think is if let's say you went out on
a Tinder day, right and you're like, hey, yeah, you
know what, I'm sick of hanging out with you. I
want to see just hang out with one other person, yes,
perfectly normal, And you asked me to go into chaperone
for a little bit. I feel like I'd want to
(11:44):
be there, and I'd want to make sure you were safe, obviously,
but at some point I can't sit by myself in
a restaurant for that long. No, there has to be
some sort of signal that's like like, like, can you
wrap it up? Like, are you still freaked out something
like that? Um, if you've don't know if any do.
A lot of people do, that is the question. People
shop her own dates. Girls have to do it all
(12:06):
the time. Yeah, Like, I don't really think I need
anyone to shaper on my date necessarily. I don't know
some of those girls on Tinder of crazy eyes, that
is right. I have definitely swiped right on a lot
of people because of the crazy look in their eyes.
You mean left or you like the grades? Which one
is right? Right? Yes? Okay, so left a lot of
times unless you like and you actually just had me
(12:29):
sound it for Bumble because Bumble is now available for androids.
I think that there are hotter guys on Bumble than
there aren't. Here's my issue with both of those um
apps or webs whatever. I guess they're just app websites.
UM Like. Being new to Seattle, I thought, okay, maybe
I'll reach out, And part of it was like, oh,
let me see what people in Seattle do or what
(12:50):
what neighborhoods they suggest? Because I have had a couple
of regular conversations. Yeah, me too, but a couple of
two or three of them, Oh, what are we gonna
meet up? Should grab a drink? And now I'm like,
this is now a real thing, and I don't want
I like to set myself up for failure because I like,
I don't want anything from any of these people. I
(13:11):
would like to keep my clothes on throughout the duration
of me knowing them. I like, just talking to them,
like you said to just like get an understanding of
the area. And I downloaded like ten apps that are
supposed to help you find friends in new areas. So
but then I'm like, are people really using apps to
find friends? Like what kind of people are on here?
So now it's weird. But I consider both of us
(13:32):
relatively normal and so not normal in social settings we
can be normal people, yes, So if we're using an
app to meet someone, that means there's a chance that
other normal, like minded people are doing the same thing, right,
not people that are trying to kill us. Yeah. I
haven't tried to kill anyone once, not once. If I
(13:53):
tried to, not once, there was at one time. Um,
I don't know, but yeah I don't. Actually didn't say
me too, me neither, I mean, we neither tried to
kill you, that's fine. Um, but yeah, it's just weird.
Like I was like swiping round, like oh, this person
seems like they'd be normal to talk to, but like
(14:14):
everyone's picture is them hiking. There's a lot of hikers
out here, and I'm okay with that, but like, if
you expect me to be on a serious hike and
not just like oh look at that tree, look at
the bird, we're not gonna be able to hang out.
And for anyone that's thinking that I'm lying about using
Tender just to speak to people, I've also left left
is bad. Right. I've also left swipe a lot of
attractive people just because I thought they looked crazy. So
(14:37):
it's not like I'm not just right, except that one
girl that was like naked matter boobs out, but I
want to see if she would respond. So there are
only there's only maybe three people that I've come across
on Tinder who you can tell like most girls now
are ready like not looking for a hook up, just
looking to make friends, blah blah blah, which is fine.
(14:57):
There's only three, maybe four people that I've seen in
my time on Tinder that well are blatantly like looking
for a friend with benefits looking to hook up. And
this one girl who I showed you before I swiped right,
I said, oh my god, to look at those girls
pictures and she's covering her boobs with her hair on
some of them, like it's very, very weird. I'm trying
to read. I think I Okay, Mine says, I don't
(15:18):
take anything seriously, not even bumble. I wanted to change
it to new to Seattle, just trying to make friends. Okay, Well,
Mine says, let's see what which I think I mean?
Is that okay to do? I don't. I don't think
there are any rules. Really. It also says a kuna matata,
I'm gonna take that out a child. It means no worries.
I know what it means for the rest of your days.
I get it. It's a problem free philosophy. Yeah, you
(15:41):
don't even know the full words. So Mine says, just
moved to Seattle to host the morning show on Power
and any three. I want people to tune in. We
don't know people in Seattle, so I want people to
do that. Then I said, check it out. And if
even if you don't feel like throwing me is super like,
I'm just here to drib a beer and maybe a
super maybe a breed, No, definitely breta. Okay, that's all
(16:01):
I wrote. So I'm not really trying to something about
why would you put it? Feel free to super like?
What did you? I said? Even if you don't want
to super like me, feel free to listen to the station.
That's just a weird thing. Times you say weird things,
I do say weird things. Whatever. Okay, next song you
read it for the song train? Yeah? Up? What are
you changing it to? I don't think anything seriously, not
(16:21):
even bumble. Jos moved to Seattle trying to make friends
not bad. So. The first song was Nate Dog and Warrengy.
Then we went Dr Drey Snoop Dogg and Nate Dog
to like those two. Following song was California Love Tupac
and Dr Dre. Now obviously Dr Dre originally started as
a member of m w A, A little straight out
of Compton one of I guess the song that really
(16:42):
kicked off the whole West Coast rap scene. What something
happens in south central Sadele, Nothing happens, It's just another
end of the day day. Can you did you end
(17:16):
up Seeing Straight Out of Compton the movie. Uh awesome,
awesome movie. If you haven't checked it out. Yeah, I
don't know if it's playing in any theaters anywhere anymore,
but go on Google. I found I found it on
Google Play. I just did bought the movie for like
five bucks whatever. Really really good movie. Check it out. Um,
So we only have one more song, all right, but
we are doing so in New York. We did in
(17:37):
New Jersey, we did Moday Friday parties. Yes, we did
Monday Friday drinking events. So we are the most excited
right now. Yeah, we're very excited because we're finally doing
our first and it didn't take very long doing our
first club event drinking event here, and they were calling
them drinking event. So Power is the name of our
station here, Power and our first event is called Power
(17:58):
Fridays in which has a power hour built into it. Yes,
it does dollar drinks. It may not be my Day Friday,
you know, as we like to call it Monday Friday Happierer,
but like that, it's like our Friday's our thing. It's
still anything you do on a Friday, if you want
to do it, is my Day Friday. This is true.
That's the whole point. So whatever you guys are doing,
and we I feel like we haven't done this one
because we've been so busy, But let us know what
you're doing with your Monday Friday. Yeah, no one's been
(18:20):
telling us. You know what, maybe they don't love us anymore.
Nobody loves us. Move out here and everyone forgets us.
So like we kind of set up originally with My
Day Friday, went back almost two years ago when we
did the first podcast, Monday Friday is your day. You
take hold of day. If you want to go out
and drink, if you want to take fireball shots at
four o'clock in the morning, by all means Day Friday.
(18:41):
If you want to do nothing, if you want to
read a book on Monday Friday, do that as well.
You want to nap, whatever, It's not just a day,
it's it's a movement. I want that on a bracelet.
Now I hate My Day Friday because you said that
it's not a day. You moved you. That was gonna
hite you move, you flinch you, that was gonna whatever.
So we have so what do we have this weekend
(19:02):
coming up? So we have our party today, we go
to l a tomorrow is at Trinity Night Club. If
you're listening in Seattle, if you have friends in Seattle,
come hang out. Can check our Facebook pages for all
the info. Will be there from ten to twelve broadcasting lives.
You actually hear what we're doing on Heart Radio if
you go to Power. Yeah, tend to midnight this time,
so if you're up super late, and if you don't
have the app, you can always go to Power dot
(19:22):
com slash live there you go look at that. So
tend to midnight on the West coast. So if you're
listening on the East coast, you're probably pretty drunk by
then because it's late. On Friday and tomorrow we fly
to l A for I Heart Eighties. We fly back,
but you would also listen to on the Power on
the Heart Radio app. Won't be doing anything with it though.
We fly back on Sunday. I'm going to punch you
(19:44):
in the face because you keep interrupting me. Well, I'm
explaining things. And then Monday I moved into my apartment
in case anyone cares. Pretty big couple of days. Yeah, Um,
let's play the last song in the song train. So
it's the this is this is where you this is
you're a part of the So we started off just
so we can tie this all together. Started off with
(20:04):
Nate Dog and Warrengey, followed by Dr joy Snoop and
Nate Dog, then Dr Drey in Tupac, and then we
took Dr Dre put him back in w A stright
out of content and now another member of W a
ice Cube with one of my favorite songs. Today was
a good day, just waking up in the morning. Gotta think.
(20:35):
I don't know, but today seems kind of no barkeet
from the dog, no small and breakfast. I got my
girl up, but didn't dig out. Gotta come from the girl,
want to dig out? Okay, So that is one of
my favorite old school like hip hop songs of all time,
especially when it comes to like West Coast Wrap. I
(20:55):
like that a lot. Can you listen to it? Top down?
In l A. I doubt we're gonna get a car
that is able to put the top down, because we
spent sixty dollars on a rental windows down, windows that
windows down. Not the same. But my cousin Rudy, the
first time I ever went to l A let me
borrow his car A much nicer car than whatever the
(21:17):
hell we're gonna get for sixty bucks. Um. And he
also just had a daughter, so congratulations Rudy and his
wife Kate on the daughter, Elsa, Elsa Elsa. But he says,
he claims that he didn't even watch the movie. When
they decided that it's just the movie Frozen, you didn't
even need to say the movie. Everyone knows who else
is Onna and Elsa Elsa and Anna who's older? Else
(21:39):
is older? Okay whatever. Anyway, I got to borrow his car,
and I drove all around l A and got to
listen to that song. So I think that's why that
song like kind of it's near and dear, dear heart,
it's near and dear to minrow the song about shooting
people and stuff got a little ice Cube. It's not
about it's about how it was a good day because
he didn't have to shoot anybody. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow
(21:59):
will be a good a day for everyone and especially
ice Cube. So we did song train and just that
was that was a boost. We have one more song
that we're gonna play it before we go. But I
have a special song. It's not a part of the train.
It's not a part of the train. Train has left
the station, and this is just this is the uber
(22:20):
to your hotel. As your parents would say the Uba,
but my parents to say uba. Um. So we're gonna
get out of here at Carla Marie if they want
to follow you on social media where they go at
the Carla Marie on everything right, I am at Worth Anthony,
unless for some reason you want to follow me on
Snapchat and send me booby pictures. It's at radio Anthony.
Don't tell our listeners, don't. I got one one time.
(22:42):
It's weird because I didn't know who the person was. Okay,
but I'm joking. Don't say anything. I don't want any
of us from anybody. But on Instagram and Twitter, it's
Worth Anthony. Also on Facebook, I have a Facebook page
now and it's new. So any people don't like if
you can, I wish that is the poke does I'll
(23:03):
find it. I'll poke, you don't poke, you don't touch
me anyway, We're gonna get it. We're gonna get out
of here. Um. Also, you can follow my Day Friday
on all the social accounts. Is that it Friday. Let
us know what you're doing on Twitter and make sure
you tweet us We're gonna get out of here. One
final song, and that is a very iconic song, ready
still very famous, very very famous, Welcome to the Jungle
(23:56):
saying it. I'll tell it's not the same thing. I've
seen it at the Fisher House. The Fisher House, I know,
is a huge part of Lane recovery for somebody like
my husband, For them to know that their family members
are being taken care of, that's a huge part and
off of them so they can concentrate on their therapies.
Just having that assurance that no matter what, as long
as we were there for Anson, that someone would be
(24:18):
there to take care of us. It took so much
weight off our shoulders. How can you help? Go to
Fisherhouse dot org.
