Speaker 1 (00:00):
On On with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Here we go my favorite day of the week this weekend,
just within reaching lots going on today. My guess is
the director and star of the new movie. It ends
with us Justin BALTONI. We're also gonna learn a new
life hack in Courtney's corner and share your comments. But
up next, celebrating Throwback Thursday, would look back at nineteen
ninety six music rolls on. Now You're on with Mario Lopez. Y'all,

(00:24):
Mark Courtney Lopez, take a look at what's on TV today.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Disney Plus debuts Are You Sure? Jim and and John
Cook from BTS and bark on an unforgettable trip before
their military service.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Funny title, Are you sure? Well, they don't have a choice.
You have to go to military school, which I actually
think is kind of awesome.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Peacock premieres a Mister Throwback, a comedy about a memorabilia
salesman who hopes to find forgiveness by reconnecting with Steph Curry,
his elementary school teammate.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Forgiveness of What What Did He Do.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Next?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Debuts Taken Together, a three part doc about the twenty
twelve abduction and unsolved murders of two cousins in Iowa.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Oh in the sink, this is going on? The saink.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Almaro Lopez here hbo breathing fire over Season two of
House of the Dragon. Season finale had nine million viewers,
big success, although season one had ten point two million.
Little bit of bittersweet news, though producers have announced that
the series will end with season four. I thought it
was an excellent season and the dragons were next level.

(01:27):
It seems like everything should be wrapping up after next
season or also gonna have to start a whole new storyline.
So I think the timing was just right. A Ma
Courney Lopez Tundler new lif haack. What is a topic
today at Courtney's Corner?

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Candles? I love a candle. I never light them anymore,
just because I don't know. Sonny blows them out every
two seconds.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
That's true, he loves you.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Got a candle warmer.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I feel candles are like a winter thing, yeah, the cozy.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
The fireplace. Well, you know, after a while they get
lower and lower in the glass and they become so
hard to light with a match or a lighter burn
your finger. So here's what you do. You light a
piece of uncooked spaghetti. They'll reach into those deep candles
without burning your fingers.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
That is a clever little hack. And yes, because those
spaghetti pieces are pretty long, so you can really kind
of get in there. And it's skinny obviously, so nice.

holding pattern, but Ben Affleck is working on his own
hol extra project. It's called Killing Gawker, and Ben says

(03:00):
he's thinking about playing Hulk himself. I'm not sure if
he's joking or not. I really hope he is, because
that casting just doesn't work. I'm sorry. It's interesting that
he's going to focus just on a particular segment in
the Hulk's life. There's a doc on Rich and Shameless
that I want to check out that's about that particular segment.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
I gotta say, I'm I'm feeling all of the things
a little insecure because I'm looking at this perfect specimen
of a man.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
I grew up watching by the way.

Speaker 8 (08:10):
I wanted to look like you, And for some reason
you've been frozen in time biogenically and you you look
your perfection. So you know, if you're not watching this
to anybody who's listening. He's wearing a tank top and
his muscles are everywhere.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
You're my new favorite person and favorite guests we've had
on the show ever. Just so you know.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
What, I'm dead serious.

Speaker 8 (08:32):
You know, when I grew up, Not to take us
too off course, but when I grew up and I
was watching Save by the Bell, like, I dreamt of
hat like I wanted your body like that was the thing.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
And I don't know how it hasn't changed.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Oh that's funny, that's funny.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
I appreciate. I appreciate the kind of where'd you grow up?
By the way.

Speaker 8 (08:51):
I grew up in Santa Monica, but I was raised
an organ, So from ten to eighteen, I was an organ.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
I never missed an episode.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Is that right? We're an organ.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Southern organ like Axcelyent, Medford area.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeah, okay, is that by Klamath Falls? By chance?

Speaker 4 (09:05):
We played soccer against Clamath Falls.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yeah. I went to a camp in Climath Falls. Oh
did you Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Yeah, that's a beautiful it's a beautiful place. Yeah, beautiful place.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah. Nice place to grow up right there. Well, thank you,
that's that's a funny story. Buddy, well, I want to
talk about your movie It Ends with Us, but first
we got to take a little break. I'm going to
come back with Justin Baldoni in just a moment.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Mario Lopez here hanging out with Justin Baldoni, director in
Star of It Ends with Us. Now, were you attracted
to it more from a directing standpoint, because I know
you oft will play a role in it, or did
you did the directing come afterwards? Was it the character
first or oh, I'd love to have my take on
this first.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Yeah. So actually, so.

Speaker 8 (09:45):
My company optioned the book in twenty nineteen. So actually,
the last time I was on your show, I was
promoting Five Feet Apart in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
I remember that.

Speaker 8 (09:53):
And and it was right around that same time that
I was introduced to this book and I read it,
and I didn't know what to expect because I'd never
really read romance novels. And by the end of the book,
I was like sobbing. I couldn't even read the text
I had, you know, I'd snot come out of my nose.
My wife was in bed next to me, I'm sure,
asking you know, what the hell's going on, like, what
are you reading? And I just fell in love with it,

(10:15):
And I fell in love with this story and with
I believe the potential that this could have to really
affect and change lives.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
It ends with Us is hitting theaters tomorrow. Hold on, Justin,
let's play some more music. Mario Lopez here with Justin Baldoni,
the director and star of the new movie. It ends
with Us. And you got to play opposite Blake Lively,
who's very sweet. How did that casting come about?

Speaker 8 (10:39):
Well, once we partnered with Sony, we needed a movie star,
and you know, we went through the list of all
the different potential movie stars and Blake's name came up and.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
It was like, oh my gosh, it's like a light
bulb went off.

Speaker 8 (10:51):
So I flew out there to meet her and we
had a three hour meeting, and by the end of it,
I was just like, you are, Lily, and I'm so.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Grateful that she signed on to play her.

Speaker 8 (11:02):
Look I'm biased, but I genuinely believe this is like
a career defining performance for her. She's so good in
this film, and I think she's gonna I just I
think she's gonna blow people away.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Oh that's awesome. No, I'm looking forward to seeing it.
And I believe the other guy And forgive me, I
forget the actor's name, but he was. He's one of
the stars of nineteen twenty three.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
I like that guy.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
He's so talented. I like that guy, so handsome. He
has this magical gift.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
Of stillness, and he can convey so much emotion without
doing anything, and he just you remember, he's broke my
heart and put it back together during the audition process.
And I'm very excited for people to see him in
this film.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
I think he's a huge star.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Oh that's a great cast. Man. I'm looking forward to
checking it out. Congratulations on that man. All right, hang on,
Justin got to play some more music, jol Mar Lopez.
I've got actor and director Justin Baldoni on zoom with me,
And you've also got a podcast, The Man Enough Podcast.
What do you talk about on there?

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Talk about We talk about masculinity. In fact, you should
come and join us sometime.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
We talk about all kinds of things like body image
and how my body image was affected by how it
corgeous your body is. Talk about all the things that
as men we don't often talk about. And the whole
idea is that it's a it's a space where we
as men can grow and become better. We have another
female co host list Plank, shout out to Liz, and
it's just a place where we can kind of refine

(12:22):
ourselves and have honest conversations in a way that as
men growing up, we just never really could with the
intention to become the best men we can possibly be
because we're all imperfect. We all mess up all the
time or say the wrong thing. We screw up, But
it's about coming back from that and learning from that
and being accountable that then we can grow up to become, like,
you know, the best versions of ourselves.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
So it's a podcast about that. I love you.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
That's how you truly learned lessons. And if that wasn't
a sympathy invite, but a real invite, I would love
to be a part of it.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
One hundred percent of real invite.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
All right, thanks, Well, I got one more thing I
want to ask you, but we got to take a break.
I'm going to wrap it up with Justin Baldoni in
just a moment.

Speaker 8 (13:18):
I just got back from Sweden this morning with my wife.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Oh nice, happy birthday?

Speaker 8 (13:25):
Yeah, and yeah, man, it's it's a really special time, man.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
That's awesome. Good for you. I'm right in that same
wheelhouse too. They're in the same way, just thirteen ten
and five.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Amazing. So you got do you get them boxing with
you and doing all the stuff you do?

Speaker 8 (13:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I get my boys. I do have a daughter and
two boys, and so yeah, they box, they do jiu jitsu,
they wrestle, So yeah, I keep them bush that's awesome. Yeah,
I know it's fun, man. But at the same time,
you know, they're playing piano and they dance of course,
the whole thing. So we'll try to keep them pretty
well balanced right there. Hey, buddy, nice talking you. Congratulations
on everything. I'm looking forward to checking out the film.

something to celebrate every single day today the holiday is
National Zucchini Day. You know, I don't love zucchini in particular. However, however,
I do love zucchini bred me too. I hate zucchini's,
but I love zucchini bread. There's something it just works

(14:31):
with bread. It's underrated.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
It sounds terrible, but real it is so good.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yep, j Amaro Corney Lopez. Let's put on our thinking Cavs.
It's time for Courtey's random question.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
What you got, honey?

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Now that House of the Dragon has wrapped up its
second season, thank god. If you had to bet, would
you choose Team Green or Team Black?

Speaker 2 (14:50):
First of all, it needed two more episodes. At least
we have one more season and then that is it.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Thank god.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Now I'm assuming the side that Queen Rania is on
is Team Green. And if that's the case, I'm going
Team Green because she's got six dragons right now, there's
only one big old dragon on the other one. So
I'm going I'm going Team Green.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Do all the dragons just live in a house.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
No, they live in like these kind of hundred ground caves,
and then they come out and they'll fly around, they
go hunt a little bit, and they've done such a
good job like making them look so real. It's it's
really incredible.

Speaker 7 (15:31):
Well, I found an online quiz to help you determine
if your Team Green or Team Black.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
If you want to take it, I'll send you the link.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Okay, Mario Lopez, we'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
You're Mark Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Time.

Speaker 2 (15:41):

Disney is about to raise the prices on all its
streaming services. For representing the happiest place on Earth, they
should rebrand themselves as the most expensive place on Earth.
Oh yeah, Both the theme parks and now the streaming services
