Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Here we go, Mario Courtney Lopez. Here back in the
mix to get you over the hum. Lots to talk
about today, including how I got caught up in all
the canceled flight drama from this past weekend.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
H Plus, we've got a new case in Courtney's court
where we dish out some common sense justice. But up
next our good Deed of the Week. The music rolls on.
Now You're on with Mario and Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
John, Mario Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Every week we celebrate someone who's done a good deed.
Who are we putting in the spotlight today?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Ryan Reynolds, You know who he is. The story is
from a few years back, but it's now just coming
to light. Okay, so Deadpool is a huge franchise now,
But originally Fox didn't think it would be a hit.
The studio didn't want to pay the screenwriters to be
on set, so Ryan took his entire salary and gave
it to the writers so they could be there to
(00:52):
punch up scenes. The movie ended up making close to
eight hundred million worldwide.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Hey bet on your set, elf, Wow, good and very good?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Right, He's pretty smart when it comes to making business decisions.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yes, and I have a special place in my heart
for him because he's giving me two shoutouts and all
the Deadpool movies. We'll see if he does in this one.
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
More Mario Lopez.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Coming up, Mario Courtney Lopez. Here, we got something this
week for New Music Friday, the world premiere of the
new Halsea's single. It's called Lucky and it's a direct
nod to the Britney head from back in the day.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's the first single from her fifth album. We'll be
playing it all throughout the day, so make sure you're
among the first to hear it, y'all.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Mario Courtney Lopez. Let's take a look at what's.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
On TV today.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
HBO debuts Charlie Hustle and The Matter of Pete Rose.
It's a journey of the life and career of one
of the most polarizing players in baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
All I'm going to see this, love me some Pete Rose.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Who did they play for?
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Pete Rose played for the Cincinnati Reds Okay, and he's
the hits leader with over four thousand hits. No one's
even close. But he is banned from baseball because he
bet on baseball, which you can do.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
And what's a Charlie hustle.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
That's just his nickname, Charlie Earlier you said bet on yourself.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Ah, very good.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Enough. Allowed Netflix premieres Dirty Pop The Boy Band Scams
to talk about lou Pearlman, who created the biggest boy
bands of the nineties and one of the largest Ponzi
schemes in history. This isn't the first time he's been
He's had a doc about him, right, There's been others.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
There, I believe has been another one. This one is
I think a few episodes and I really want to
see it. Look, he's responsible for Sync, Backstreet Boys, O Town,
some of the biggest boy bands. Right. But the as
far as the Ponzi scheme, not only did he do
like a Colonel Tom Parker Elvis situation where he was
(02:48):
basically getting half of the money, but he also was
like taking advantage of a lot of folks saying, hey,
you can invest in the band and own a little
piece and with a lot of like senior folks which
have feeling awful no, and he was taking advantage there.
So how shady can you be? You got to like
limit your shade.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
My grandmother owned point six percent of en Sync.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yes, exactly what was the cases like that?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Oh my god? Apple TV debuts Time Abandits. It's a
new series based on the nineteen eighty one movie A
group of ragtag thieves recruit an eleven year old history
buff to travel through time and space to save the world.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I love that movie. I love this movie.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I must have seen it a thousand times. However, I
have a bone to pick.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Where are the little people? Or they're not little little people?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Saw the trailer and.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
The trailer there was just like a snippet of a
little people. Well that's of a scene with little people.
The original Time Band all little people. They were all
a little Yes, if I was a little person, I'd
be upset because come on, how many.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Roles are there? Yamar Courtney Lopez. Time to dish out
some common sense.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Just as all rise Courtney's court is noun session, today's
case is from at Happy Golockey. They say my mother
in law is having an affair. When we visit and
she's not there, my kids will ask about her, and
my husband and father in law will say something like
she's working or she has plans. I don't want to
make lying to them normal. I want to address this
(04:13):
with everyone. Do I have a right to?
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Wait, does so much to unpack? Here does the father
in law? So everyone knows it's a known fact that
she's having an a fir.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I don't know about the father in law, but apparently
her husband knows.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Okay, Well, listen, you just need to stay out of
their business. And look these little white lies we tell
your kids Nana is sleeping with another man, Like, what
are you going to tell them? Necessary she's working or
she had she had stuff to do. But you can
reach out to her alone and privately if you want
(04:54):
her to spend more time with the kids and just say, hey,
we come over. You're not there. I know you're busy
hanging in quotation, but the kids miss you and want
to see you, and they know something's up. Something like that.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
But I agree, keep it to yourself and include the
he and what does.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
He look like?
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Cout of that for Mario Lopez coming.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Up, Mario Courtney Lopez, here was some quick buzz for you. Peacock.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Maybe regretting their decision to raise prices, they say they've
lost five hundred thousand subscribers in the past three months.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Ooh, that's a lot.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
That's not the news they want to hear this close
to the Olympics. Even though revenue is up almost thirty
percent from a year ago, the streamer is still in
the red, losing close to three hundred and fifty million
dollars this year.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Wow, all the streamers lose money, an executive recently told me.
And so there's going to be a time really soon
when they start to consolidate. Thank goodness, got.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Me do it quicker because I'm tired of them raising
my prices on each individual one.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
I know.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Mario Lopez here, my wife Courtney, and the new trailer
for Joker Io is here. What Caine Phoenix is going
on trial over the events from the first movie, and
Lady Ganga is right there by his side as Harley Quinn.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
It said to be more like a musical, which is cool.
Curious to see how that will work. The movie drops
October fourth, but you can see the trailer now at
on with Mario dot Com.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
It's Ebyromoro Courtney Lopez and I'm still trying to catch
up on some arrest regarding this past week. And I'm
gonna tell you I don't think I've explained it before,
but there was a global outage that grounded hundreds of
flights here in America. Actually it disrupted services worldwide. It
wasn't just here in America. My mom, who's like a leprechaun,
(06:35):
luckiest person in the world, she was flying out with
our daughter and.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
In the middle at the peak of all this.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
She just had like a little twenty minute delay or
an hour delay, and they ended up getting on the flight.
I thought I was in the clay because I was
flying out the next day on the Saturday. I was
having a quick business trip to Orlando. I arrived at
nine am. My flight was at ten fifteen am. Nice
and early.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
You getting there early.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I always get there early when it's lax. Necessarily, b
you have to, but I have my sign with me.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
You're such a liar, But I'm so not a liar.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
You're crazy.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
That's a different topic. We'll come back to that.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
So I was there with my son, Dominic, and a
buddy of mine, Donnie, who was traveling with us. They
were going to stay for a few days, and I
was just going to do this one event. All right,
we get there, then it's pushed back a half hour, whatever,
no big deal. Then it's pushed back two hours. I'm like, oh,
so now it's one o'clock. It ends up getting pushed
(07:31):
back to five pm. And I said, no, no, no, no,
I cannot risk this happening while I'm in Orlando because
I'm the only talent working on my show Access Hollywood.
The rest of the team is in France, so this
could be catastrophic. Wouldn't be here from the radio show either.
This is not a good look. Not a good look.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
They went the day before, so.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
It would have been pretty catastrophic had not been back
in time. So I told the person running the event,
I apologize. They totally understood. Buddy, Donnie, who mind you
got their nine am with us, said I'm gonna try
to stay because they hired him to work and he
was gonna try to make it. I said, all right, man,
it just you run in the risk. So he stayed.
We went home, and mind you, we waited about six hours.
He waited till eleven pm. Okay, eleven pm when it
(08:18):
finally was scheduled to take off. Then they canceled it.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
Oh he was there thirteen hours. Stuck that out, Yes,
thirteen hours and then ended up getting home about one
or something in the morning. I could not believe that.
Oh it was bad.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Hopefully they'll get their act together more Mario Lopez coming up,
Mario Courtney Lopez here. Olympics kickoff on Friday. iHeartRadio You're
home for all the action. We've teamed up with NBC
to make sure you do not miss a moment. We've
got two twenty four to seven play by play channels
on the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
App, plus original podcast like two Guys, Five Rings the
Podium and in the Village. So tune in to hear
your favorite athletes go for the gold on the exclusive
audio partner for the twenty of twenty four Summer Games.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
What a Mario Courtney Lopez Here was some quick buzz.
Sounds like there's one person holding up a big N
Sync reunion. Justin Timberlake TMZ says JT has not yet
addressed proposals for a twenty twenty five tour, and the
other guys in the group are disappointed with his radio silence. Well,
I can't.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Imagine radio silence very appropriate for this. Well, Justin is
said to be solely focused on his world tour. What
World tour you ask, the World tour and the words
of JT. Plus he has his next hearing with his
DWI case this Friday, so good luck with that.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
All right, more music.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Now a Mario Courtney Lopez and our son Dominic did
something recently that was really cool and he hasn't stopped
talking about it, and it makes me want to take
him up on his offer. What is that you ask?
He went to a drive in theater. Yeah, drive in
movie theater. He drive No, he won with a friend
of mine. He took him there and he's got an
(10:03):
suv and they opened up the back hatch and they
had some little lawn chairs and you can hook up
the Bluetooth to the speakers in your car, right, so
you have this really good sound. But on a nice
summer night, you're eating, you can have your snacks and
stuff and the screens obviously right there. And he loved it.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Though.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I grew up by one Sweetwater Pacific Says right by
my house in Chula Vista, and it was a lot
of fun. It's been years, but I think we should go.
That's sort of an underrated, I think move these days.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
I have to look because the kids obviously don't remember,
but when gn Dominic were very little, they we did
take that.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
In the swagger wagon.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, yeah, I think it was in Pasadena. There was
one in Pasadena. It was very close, but they were
so little they don't remember. Obviously, Dominic remembers this one
because he's ten. But it's such a cool it was
such a cool experience.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
You got to do it, I think, especially on the
summer night when it's nice. Right now, Yeah, I think
that's that's a really good move. Come out, Mario Lopez,
coming up, Mario Lopez, you're my wife, Courtney. Business is
booman if you're a repo. Man's a wild stat I
posted about this. Car repossessions are of twenty three percent
this year. Sounds like the buses are about to get
a lot more crowded. It's getting harder and harder to
(11:12):
afford a car, and the average price for a new
car is close to forty nine thousand dollars. And if
you're not keeping up with payments, well it'll get repossessed.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
I mean, just life in general is so expensive. This
is kind of getting out of hand and we can't
even live.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Uh. Meanwhile, let's listen to some good music, so.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
We can live while we're listening to music.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Wild Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Here, let's put a spotlight on my wife at a
time for Courtney's random thought, what you got, honey?
Speaker 3 (11:51):
So I saw fifty cent making a sweater the other
day and I thought, gee, unit, wow.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Wow, you know what you do? That pretty good?
Speaker 2 (12:00):
I thoughts it g you knit?
Speaker 4 (12:04):
That was good.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
I was always a compliment with with a criticism.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
That was helpful, well only for the people I love,
but it's so helpful for who I was very happy with.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
More you next time you deliver? Okay, you want to
be quiet?
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Okay, I'll be quiet. Finean like Santino says, okay, finean,
y'amorow Courtney Lopez.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Time for today's birthday shout outs.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
We're gonna try to guess the ages.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
Anna Paquin from True Blood x Men.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Anna Paquin is thirty five.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Oh no, Anna packwin. She'd be packing at least forty
two years on her.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Forty two is correct.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
I was gonna say that da joke, but it didn't
make like. It sounded stupid in my head, and then
when you said it, it confirmed it.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
From Don't be Mad You Knit.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
From Selena the wedding planner made in Manhattan and soon
to be bene flex X again. Jennifer Lopez, Well, we
don't know those those actually, I heard they're rekindling. They're
working on rekindling their their chaotic relationship.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
That's a lot of that's a lot of drama right there.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
They've only been married two years.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
I didn't even realize it was that long.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Isn't that long? I was surprised it was that long.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
J Loo is coming in.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
My girl's got to be fifty three, jerk face.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
I was going to say that.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Fifty four fifty five, okay?
Speaker 5 (13:31):
From Glee Wicked and coming in at about four foot
nine Kristin Chenowick.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
I don't even know if she's that tall.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
I was being generous.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Technically, if you are under four eleven, you're considered a
little person.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
Oh maybe she could be in the remake of Time Bandit.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
That's right, Kristin Chenowick is fifty seven.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Fifty six fifty six is correct?
Speaker 5 (13:55):
You know album?
Speaker 3 (13:55):
This is what happens when I come in after him?
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Do you give him all the age talk about?
Speaker 5 (14:01):
I didn't given him any answers. Linda Carter the old
school og Wonder woman, Linda carter Um.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
She's Latina, by the way, and she looks great. Still
my girl is coming in at sixty seven, seventy five,
seventy three.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Mario Lopez will be right back.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Yamoro Courney Lopez. Let's get to your comments. What'd you
find in our mention? Honey?
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (14:27):
This is from a Penny Holcomb sixty seven, and she said,
started reading your memoir yesterday. Is there enough yet for
a volume two? I know it was juicy, wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
That's a very good question, and I appreciate you asking
Penny Holcombe sixty seven. I would say in another ten
years I can have a solid, solid follow up.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
And I will be in more than just chapter eight.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
That's all right, and our names won't be edited out
this time. It out, yeah, or Marial.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Lopez, Mario Corney Lopez. Here we always find a reason
to celebrate. What is today's holiday, honey, it's your day?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
National Tequila Day.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Yeah, well that day is every day for me, but
National Tequila Day on a Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
In the middle of summer.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
It's perfect tequila, by the way, And I'm not just
being biased, this is a scientific fact. Really is the
healthiest it is of the alcoholic libations. Once you get
puagavi in some good tequila, you can drink as much
as you want. You will get hammered, but you will
not wake up with a hangover. You will not You
will not Mexico if you if you do not mix
(15:40):
it obviously, if you just drink it straight. Yeah, which
is my move. Which is my move now, and it's
actually got some other health benefits. So not trying to
be funny. You can do the research. Happy National Tequila Day.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Mario Corney Lopez. Here was some quick buzz for you.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Chris Brown has been hit with a fifty million dollar lawsuit.
Four guys say they were invited backstage after a recent
concert where Chris's security beat him up. Wait what, there's
something fishy about this. Apparently one of the guys had
beef with Chris back in the day. Oh so then
why they invite him? He says it was a setup
to get him alone with no one watching. One of
(16:13):
the victims is still hospitalized. You know, Chris Brown is
so talented, so talented and has such a great catalog
of music, but my guy just can't seem to keep
himself out of trouble. He can't get out of his
own way. It's so sad.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
But okay, but there's so many questions. I mean, we're
just hearing this.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Right, we don't know if it's true.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
For your guys who had beef with him went to
the concert then wanted to.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Go exactly right, why are they going to the content?
You're right, honey, that's a very good question. You know what,
when you become a target, then people start sending himself
You're exactly right if you had beef for them. If
I'm a judge, why are you going with this is
why you're a radio judge? Say it's exactly right, thank you.
One thing I do like that Chris Brown does. He
charges a lot, but he'll he'll take pictures with his
(16:55):
fans for like an hour or two hours and any
poses they want. They're funny and they post about them
all the time, but like, you know, they're making their days.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
I was like, that's kind of cool.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Yeah. Sobyrolmaro, Cordy Lopez, and I gotta say I've become
an even bigger fan of Shannon Doherty post her passing.
Learning all these things about her. She was a real one.
She was really about that life in hardcore. I mentioned
before how she was vocal about her husband trying to
(17:27):
outlive her, waiting for her to die. These are her words.
Because he didn't want to sign the divorce papers and
she didn't want to give him everything that she had,
so he signed them. She literally passed the next day.
Then come to find out that she left the list
of people who she didn't want at her funeral attending.
I was like, dang, this is hardcore. Some detailed planning,
(17:51):
really detailed planning. I mean, I guess I respect that.
Would you do a list?
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Funny if there were people that I did not want
there that thought and maybe they could just show up
to I don't know for whatever.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Reasons the show.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
But I do have something I want to do at
my funeral. I'm gonna hire somebody prior to take my
phone during the funeral and text everyone there and say
thank you for coming.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Does she have her phone with it?
Speaker 3 (18:20):
And then put the phone in the casket.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
How many people were on this list, by the way,
I don't know it, but obviously there was a few more.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
While Courtney Lopez here were less than two months away
from the iHeartRadio Music Festival September twentieth and twenty first
in Vegas, of course, with a lineup that includes Camil
like Abao, Halsey, du A, Lipa, Hosier and.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
The New Kids.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
More than a dozen artists altogether, and I bet the
lineup will continue to grow in the coming weeks. Plus
there's always surprise guests and collabse So that's great. It's
going to be the biggest weekend in music, it always is.
Get your tickets now at onwithmrio dot com.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Al Mari Courtney Lopez. Here we got our next nineties reboot.
This time it's the movie I Know What You Did
last summer. Sony is bringing it back with a new
cast that includes Camilla Mendez from Riverdale and Madeline Klein
from Outer Banks.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Og stars Freddy Prince Junior and Jennifer Love Hewitt are
and talks to return. They have to. The original movie
made one hundred and twenty five million dollars at the
box office.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Okay, Toby memorial Courtney Lopez for one last thing. So
there's a documentary that's out on Hulu, I believe right now.
Regarding Michael Jackson's Thriller album and it being the twenty
fifth anniversary. One of the things I learned was that
Vincent Price, who is featured in the beginning of the
song thriller Darkness comes upon that joy Oh god, yes, exactly. Well,
(19:47):
when they approached him to lend his voice to the beginning,
which probably took him maybe ten minutes to record, right,
he had to choose between a share of the album's
profits or a flat fee of twenty thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Don't tell me he took the foe.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
He chose the twenty thousand dollars. Big mistake. Huge. It's
Michael Jackson, to quote Julie Roberts, a pretty woman. That
would have literally been millions of dollars. Now, granted it's
nineteen eighty. He's thinking he wanted the money up front.
He thought a thousand right now, probably will take me
making money.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Oh yeah, it'll probably take me ten minutes for twenty
grand Can you exactly does he do the laugh at
the end too, yes, ha ha ha exactly so that
in for free. Well guess what he did not have
the last laugh?
Speaker 4 (20:32):
He did not very good?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Honey, Wow, that was good.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Or Mario Lopez coming.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Up all right?
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Time for us to pass the minds, but we are
back tomorrow to celebrate throw Back Thursday.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Plus we'll have a new life hack in Courtney's corner
and tell them this is Mario and Courtney Lopez. Saying
good night
Speaker 1 (20:51):
With Mario Lopez
