new champion yesterday. Congrats to thirty year old California born
singer songwriter Jessica Sanchez Season twenty winner, who is currently
nine months pregnant. By the way, just won a million dollars.
And I've been a fan of Jessica for so long.
It's wild because she auditioned for AGT when she was

(02:31):
only ten years old, and then she went on to
be a runner up on American Idol, where I feel
she should have won. She was incredible that year. She
lost to Philip Phillips. Oh, and now cut to she
just won AGT and she's about to have a baby.
Should we dare say it was a duo who won
because her.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Baby technically, my baby was good luck.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Time for must see movies Mario Lopez.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
All right, Fraser, let's break down the new stuff that
is hitting theaters this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
One battle after another. Leonardo DiCaprio Sean Penn Bob is
a washed up revolutionary who lives in a state of
stone paranoia, surviving off with his spirited and self reliant
daughter Willa. When his evil nemesis resurfaces and Willi goes missing.
The former radical scrambles to find her as both father
and daughter battle the consequences of their past.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
The reviews have.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Been insane, saying it's the best movie in the last decade.
Spielberg said he saw it three times.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
These people got to cal him down. They're going really hard.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
But by the way, I hope it is as incredible
as it is.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I mean, that'd be great if it is, but I
feel like they're exaggerating a little.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Well, we can judge for ourselves.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
A movie I won't see. The Strangers chapter two.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
After learning that one of their victims, Maya, is still alive,
three mass maniacs returned to finish the job. With nowhere
to run and no one to trust, Maya soon finds
herself in a brutal fight for survival against psychopaths who
are more than willing to kill anyone who stands in
their way.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah. So the first one came out in early two thousands.
They took a minute for chapter two, but seems like
more Mayhem.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Gabby's Dallhouse the movie.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
When Gaby's Dallhouse, her most prized possession, ends up in
the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Veras sets
off on an adventure through the real world to get
Gabby's cat's back and blah blah blah, your kids will
like that one.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
So Gabby's dollhouse this, well, she's no longer a little girl.
She's getting a little she's getting a little older. But
she still kind of does her little girl voice right there.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
But she's very sweet.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
And Kristin Wig and Gloria Stefan, who just had on
our show recently, are really into Apparently Gabby's a phenomenon.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yeah, we're kids.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
And finally, this one's Wild Saw eleven eleven. There's no
way there's been eleven installments, the eleventh installment of the
Saw franchise.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Can I tell you something. It's a really good guilty pleasure.
I love to figure it out. Would you do it?
I always ask yourself all this stuff. First one was
great when it had when he got at the twist
at the end, Oh, it was great.

Speaker 4 (05:40):

the question. All that.

Speaker 2 (05:56):

that she's an industry plant.

Speaker 1 (06:03):

Day because we are now officially into fall.

Speaker 3 (06:40):

Speaker 1 (06:41):

Speaker 3 (06:44):

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I don't think I read Zucchini's outside of it being
in zucchini.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Brazucchini bred his next level, though, so shout out to that.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
All right.

Speaker 1 (06:53):

On Mario Lopez, keeping the music coming your ways.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
We get ready to fire up zoom so we get
chat with today's guest, Greg Kelly. He was the subject
of an incredible documentary a few years back called Outcry,
all about fighting for his freedom after being wrongfully convicted
for a crime and now he's got his life back
on track and it's trying to help others in a
similar situation. Back to talk all about it and more
with Greg when he zooms in next.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
What's up here on Mario Lopez and joining me right now.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
You remember him for the Showtime true crime doc series
My Man mister Greg Kelly. How you been Greg?

Speaker 6 (09:06):
I'm good, Mario. How about yourself?

Speaker 8 (09:08):
I've been rocking and rolling man with life and enjoined
freedom moving forward, brother, and yeah, I'm so happy to
be here.

Speaker 6 (09:15):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
There's nothing like freedom. And I also compelled by your
doc series, you and your family that had reached out
and long story short, we became friends through it. D
I just think you're a very impressive young man and
a lot has changed for you since your exoneration with
the case and the docu series. What's going on now
in your day to day life?

Speaker 6 (09:36):
My life, man, it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Man.

Speaker 8 (09:40):
I do a lot of reflection and I've been reflecting
a lot on It's weird, man, after going through such
a terrible chapter of my life. I can't say season
because I hope it never comes back, right, It's just
this chapter of my life. I think through the toughest
chapters is where we find out who we truly are

(10:00):
and we developed these identities that we get to carry
for the rest of our life. And you know, before
all that had happened with outcry and the judicial system
and fighting for the truth, fighting for my life and
regaining my freedom being a football player, was all I
was and eighteen nineteen years old, rightfully, so right you
love sports, you're good at sports, that's what you do.

(10:24):
Then that gets torn away from me. My life gets crashed,
it becomes, you know, absolutely derailed, It comes crashing down.
Developed some skills while I was in prison wrongfully, so
developed a business. Since I got exonerated. Use those skills,
which we'll talk about here in a little bit, to

(10:45):
start a business that takes care of me, my family.
I've got a few employees I get to take care of.

Speaker 6 (10:51):
As well, and start a foundation.

Speaker 8 (10:53):
I mean, I guess, I guess the world wouldn't have
counted against me if I developed and maintained hate and
rage in my heart, they would probably actually cheer for
me because it would be kind of entertaining.

Speaker 6 (11:05):
But I choose to take a different path.

Speaker 8 (11:06):
I choose to to move forward brow with forgiveness and
uh mainly from me, mainly from me, my family, my
little girl, which I'll be able to get to talk about,
which I'm glad to.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yeah that that's such a beautiful thing. Well, we got
so much to talk about. We got to take quick
break Hank type more with Greg Kelly coming Uppez getting
back to Greg Kelly from this incredible documentary outcry I
Mario Lopez here, and now that you got your life back, man,
you started the Vindication Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting
for wrongly convicted individuals. My my wife and I watch

(11:41):
a lot of documentaries and she that's her biggest fear.
We talk about it on the radio all the time.
Is being convicted for a crime that we convict for
a crime that you that you haven't done.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
I think even being accused is a big fear.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Sure, and you know what else to piggyback on that,
but it's different. But not is if a crime happened
to you, and also no one.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Believe and no one believes it actually happened. I think
you're lying, Yeah, because that happens too.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, that happens too. But a part of the foundation
for you raising weareness woman obviously trying to get these
people vindicated. Is you doing ultra marathons which is insane?
You have one hundred mile one coming up right?

Speaker 6 (12:21):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
To piggyback off of what you said about that being
your biggest fear, I've actually given a sermon, I've given.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
A my wife's biggest I'm not so worried. I think
my wife's doing some shady things on the side that I'm.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Not aware of.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yeah, No, Maria, Mario's biggest fear is rats. It's just
rat Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (12:37):
Rats, That's awesome.

Speaker 8 (12:40):
No, I I totally get everybody's got their biggest fear,
and I've I've always opened with like, hey, what are
you scared of the most in this world? Some people
are like, oh, being burned alive. Some people are saying kidnapped,
some people are saying buried alive.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Right, And.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
I've realized that being falsely accused, for one, is terrible,
but being wrongfully convicted is paralyzing. And so that's why
I've created the Vindication Foundation, is to allow to be
that hope to the hopeless man. And you know, that's
that's why I did it. That's why I'm running such.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
An amazing thing to do good for you. Well, we
got more to talk about. Hang tight more with Greg
on the way you are. Mario Lopez chat with Greg Kelly,
who you may remember from a dog called Outcry a
few years back, and Greg, I want to get back
to these ultra marathons, man, not just regular marathons like
one hundred miles ultra marathons. Bro, that is so to build.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
It's outrageous, it's outrageous, it's foolish, right, well.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Yeah, and it's because it's not just physical mentally, you
have to go to a certain place and.

Speaker 6 (13:42):
That's all it is. Brother, that's all it is.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Man, How does your body fel Because I've done a
few marathons, I need like a taxi to take me
from my bed to the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
I know.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
I've actually seen some of your times. You're pretty solid.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
To be fair, the Boston Marathon, he stopped at someone's
house to use the restaurant and they set him lunch,
so that time does not count compared to the others.

Speaker 6 (14:01):
Let's say, favorite favor eight fair though.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
That's all right, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
And I was just doing I think I was just
trying to with the Boys and Girls Club. I think
we're attached right here.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
But one hundred miles, well, that is next level. How
does one train for something like that?

Speaker 8 (14:13):
Yeah, So, fighting for my life, fighting for the truth,
choosing not to lay down and die in prison. It's
absolutely foolish to not take a plea bargain of five
years probation when you're facing twenty five and nine nine years,
and I chose not to take it when I got
presented that as an nineteen year old kid before I

(14:36):
go to trial to prove or to fight for my
life and to prove that I did not do this
and I get to go back and live regular life.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Unfortunately, that wasn't the story that was written for me.

Speaker 8 (14:47):
So I chose not to take five years probation out
of this exercising of manhood for me to say, you
know what, I'm going to stand for the truth. I'm
not going to sit down, and I'm not going to
stand in front of God and everyone I love and
say I did something I didn't do, so that required
me to fight.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Don Mario Lopez Greg Kelly from the doc Outcry is
on Zoom with us this hour. I've been telling us
a bit about fighting for his freedom after being wrongfully
convicted of crime. And one of the things that I
think is so impressive about your whole story and just
the way you've been able to sort of carry on
it and prosper really, since that is your walk in faith,
and I know you recently started an online Bible study

(15:29):
on YouTube as well, what kind of topics are you
going to be talking about there.

Speaker 8 (15:34):
You know, to give you a backstory and why studying
the Bible is so important to me If you ask
me that one thing that made me get through all
of it is whatever you put your whatever you put
inside yourself, you get right back out. It doesn't matter.
It doesn't need to be faith, it doesn't need to
be anything. It's just a universal principle of life. Whatever
you put in your mind, whatever you put in your soul,

(15:55):
whatever you entertain, and whatever you put in front of
your eyes will come back out who you are now.
When I was in prison, I studied the Word every day.
I stayed in it, I read it. I affirmed myself
with it.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
I believe.

Speaker 8 (16:10):
I chose to believe it, and I chose to apply it. Recently,
I've writen my book, tapping back into my story, doing
a few projects that are going to be.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Able to tell my story. I have this. It's weird, man.

Speaker 8 (16:25):
It's like for a while when I first got out.
It's like in a fight. You know a lot about boxing,
you know about mma. Right when you're in the fight
and you're getting pounded and you're getting punched, and you're
getting kicked in the ribs and you're getting cuts.

Speaker 6 (16:39):
And you're getting wounds. You don't feel it.

Speaker 8 (16:40):
Adrenaline's pumping, you're surviving. You're in war, right. But after
the fight, you give it a little time and you
get some sleep. In the very next day you're hurting.

Speaker 6 (16:52):
Man.

Speaker 8 (16:52):
You know you now feel the trauma. And maybe a
year or two I didn't feel as much. But right
around the year three and year four, year five, I'm
around year five now being exonerated, I feel it a lot.
So staying in the work doing the Bible studies online
on my YouTube channel, I am doing it more so
for me, but in hopes that somebody else will get

(17:14):
something out of it as well.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
That is beautiful, man, and that's really God's work. And
just again really proud of all the hard work you're
putting in. Congratulations man on everything. One more thing I
want to get to though, quick break, and we're going
to come back and wrap it up.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
You're the full interview now at on with Mario dot Com.
More Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Wrap it up with Greg Kelly.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Mario Lopez here and Greg before you go, one last
thing I want to tease the people with there's a
film and development right now about your experience that I'm
proud to be partnering with you on. Over for Lifetime.
We could look for it in twenty twenty six. More
info to come, but we'll be able to continue to
tell your story man, on yet another platform and another way,

(17:55):
the book, the movie. It's going to be.

Speaker 6 (17:56):
Great, awesome, man.

Speaker 8 (17:58):
I am super pumped for this. I don't even know
I'm when I'm supposed to share it, but I'll tell
you what. Since you brought it up, it's been a pleasure, Mario,
getting to know you. It's been a pleasure being a
being your friend. You're one of the realist people that
I know. Brother, you you're nothing but being genuine, you know,
and that's why when you know, I thought of you know,
when the La fires happened, I immediately thought of you,

(18:21):
And you know, maybe that's a reason why you know
You're You're so genuine.

Speaker 6 (18:24):
And I don't I don't, uh, I don't.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
Usually get starstruck for people, but I've also I've always
got strong starstruck for you because it's just an honor, dude,
to do this with you, and I can't wait to
be able to uh to share this story with you.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Oh man, I can't wait either, buddy and I. Meanwhile,
I want everyone to be sure to check out the
Vindication Foundation dot com for all the info on how
you can help. And for some reason you've never seen
the Outcry doc. It's available for streaming right now on
Hulu and a few other places. But my man, Greg Kelly,

(18:57):
I thank you for your time, look forward to seing
you soon and God bless your brother the best of
you and the family.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
Us will Mario got bass.

You can be con. Courtney will be pro better pro.

seconds make your case, ten second robott afterwards. Your topic
today is in honor of something we celebrated earlier this
week or chutta.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Your pro chuta?

Speaker 6 (19:59):
I am?

Speaker 9 (20:01):
Can you use that in a sense?

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Horhot that I remember is the Mexican rice water drink.

Speaker 9 (20:06):
Horneshota is so good for you because it is a
water and rice, which to me is a carb and
you get both goodies into your body through your veins.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Thank you, mister Lopez.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Rice in water sounds absolutely disgusting, and I know it's
a cultural thing, but I tend to lean more towards Hamika,
which is a hibiscus drink that's often paired alongside horn
shot as an option. Always go with hamika.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
That is so not you because you love rice water
given to babies because it makes them fat.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
That's true, I do love I do love a fat baby,
But as an adult, I've leaned towards the hibiscus deliciousness
of the hamika and it's a medicinal benefits.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Okay, add on with Mario on Facebook and ex adda

All right, fresher, what you got?

Speaker 2 (21:18):

failed to predict is that we would buy the cameras ourselves,
and our greatest fear would be that no one was watching.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Oh that's kind of deep and scary.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
It's reference to nineteen eighty four. If no one's read
that book.

Speaker 1 (21:32):

And yeah, okay, now I'm gonna in a kind of
a sad mood.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Thanks for more Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
All right, that's it.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Thanks again a great Kelly for zooming in almar dot
com for my full chat with him.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
