Oh I'm kind of digging this.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
There's a video showing someone putting their garlic and herb
dip on something different each day, from Brussels sprouts to
candy canes. Ooh, I'm not down with the candy cane one.

Oh, today's perfect.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Today is a perfect day.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
So I'm gonna really power through that and just I
handwrite all of my addresses because I'm too lazy to
put them in the computer.

Speaker 7 (01:36):
But if you did it once, then it would.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I did do it once, Oh, but I stupidly did
it on a web from a website where I ordered
Christmas cards one time and never order you can, and
I can only.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
As I order from that site.

Speaker 7 (01:51):
You can export that list.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
You can export it.

Speaker 3 (01:53):

That's right, he's late.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
A Mario Lopez keeping the music coming your ways.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
We get ready to fire up zoom, so we get
chat with today's guest, Greg Kelly. He was the subject
of an incredible documentary a few years back called Outcry,
all about fighting for his freedom after being wrongfully convicted
for a crime. Now he's got his life back on
track and it's trying to help others in a similar
situation back to talk all about it and more with
Greg when he zooms in next, What's up?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
You're on?

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Mario Lopez and joining me right now?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
You remember him from the Showtime true crime doc series
My Man, mister Greg Kelly. How you been Greg?

Speaker 8 (04:19):
I'm good, Mario? How about yourself?

Speaker 9 (04:20):
I've been rocking and rolling, man with life and enjoying freedom,
moving forward, brother, and yeah, I'm so happy to be here.

Speaker 8 (04:27):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
There's nothing like freedom.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
And I was so compelled by your your doc series,
you and your family that had reached out and long
story short, we became friends through it. And I just
think you're a very impressive young man and a lot
has changed for you since your exoneration with the case
and the docu series.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
What's going on now in your.

Speaker 8 (04:47):
Day to day life?

Speaker 9 (04:49):
My life, man, it's crazy, man. I do a lot
of reflection, and I've been reflecting a lot on It's weird, man,
after going through such a a terrible chapter of my life.
I can't say season because I hope it never comes back, right,
It's just this chapter of my life. I think through

(05:09):
the toughest chapters is where we find out who we
truly are and we developed these identities that we get
to carry.

Speaker 8 (05:16):
For the rest of our life.

Speaker 9 (05:17):
And you know, before all that had happened, with outcry
and the judicial system and fighting for the truth, fighting
for my life and regaining my freedom, being a football
player was all I was and eighteen nineteen years old, rightfully,
so right you love sports, you're good at sports, that's
what you do. Then that gets torn away from me.

(05:38):
My life gets crashed, it becomes, you know, absolutely derailed,
It comes crashing down. Developed some skills while I was
in prison wrongfully, so developed a business. Since I got exonerated,
use those skills, which we'll talk about here in a
little bit, to start a business that takes care of me.

(06:00):
I've got a few employees I get to take care
of as well.

Speaker 8 (06:04):
And I start a foundation.

Speaker 9 (06:06):
I mean, I guess, I guess the world wouldn't have
counted against me if I developed and maintained hate and
rage in my heart, they would probably actually cheer for me,
because it would be kind of entertaining. But I choose
to take a different path. I choose to to move
forward bro with forgiveness and mainly for me, mainly from me,
my family, my little girl, which I'll be able to

(06:29):
get to talk about, which I'm glad to.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Yeah, that's such a beautiful thing.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Well, we got so much to talk about. We got
to take quick break Hank type more with Greg Kelly
coming up.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
Happy holidays to you and yours. This is on with
Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Won't be right back getting back to Greg Kelly from
this incredible documentary outcry, I Mario Lopez here and now
that you got your life back, man, you started the
Vindication Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting for wrongly convicted individuals.
My wife and I watch a lot of documentaries and
she got your biggest sphere. We talk about it on
the radio all the time. Is being convicted for a

(07:03):
crime that we uh convict for a crime that you
that you haven't done.

Speaker 7 (07:07):
I think even being accused is a big fear. Sure,
like yeah, and you know.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
What else to to piggyback on that, But it's different.
But not is if a crime happened to you and
also no one.

Speaker 10 (07:18):
Believe and no one believes it actually happened. I think
you're lying, Yeah, because that happens too.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
Yeah, that happens too.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
But a part of the foundation for you raising weareness
Leoban obviously trying to get these people, uh vindicated. Is
you doing ultra marathons, which is insane? You have one
hundred mile one coming up right?

Speaker 8 (07:36):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (07:37):
To piggyback off of what you said about that being
your biggest fear, I've actually given a sermon.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
I've given a my wife's biggest I'm not so worried.
I think my wife's doing some shady things on the
side that I'm not aware of.

Speaker 7 (07:48):
Yeah, No, Maria Mario's biggest fear is rats.

Speaker 8 (07:51):
It's just rat Yeah, yeah, rats, That's awesome.

Speaker 9 (07:56):
No, I I totally get everybody's got their biggest fear,
and I've I've always opened with like, hey, what are
you scared of the most in this world? Some people
are like, oh, being burned alive. Some people are saying kidnapped,
some people saying buried alive.

Speaker 8 (08:08):
Right, And.

Speaker 9 (08:10):
I I've realized that being falsely accused, for one is terrible,
but being wrongfully convicted is paralyzing. And so that's why
I've created the Vindication Foundation, is to allow to be
that hope to the hopeless man. And you know, that's
that's why I did it.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
That's why I'm.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Running such an amazing thing to do.

Speaker 7 (08:31):
Good for you.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Well, we got more to talk about.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Hang tight more with Greg on the West You are
mari A Lopez chat with Greg Kelly, who you may
remember from a dog called Outcry a few years back.
And Greg, I want to get back to these ultra marathons, man,
not just regular.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Marathons like one hundred miles, ultra marathons. Bro, that is
so to build.

Speaker 8 (08:49):
It's outrageous, it's outrageous. It's foolish, right.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Well, yeah, and it's because it's not just physical mentally,
you have to go to a certain place.

Speaker 8 (08:56):
And that's all it is, brother, that's all it is.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
Man, How your body here?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Because I've done a few marathons, I need like a
taxi to take me from my bed to the bathroom.

Speaker 8 (09:05):
I know. I've actually seen some of your times. You're
pretty solid.

Speaker 10 (09:08):
Yeahan marathon, well, to be fair, the Boston Marathon, he
stopped at someone's house to use the restaurant and they
seed him lunch, so that time does not count compared
to the others.

Speaker 8 (09:16):
Let's say favorite favor eight fair though.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
That's all right, that's right, that's right, And I was
just doing it. I think I was just trying to
with the Boys and Girls Club.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
I think we're attached right here, but one hundred miles,
Well that is next level.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
How does one train for something like that?

Speaker 9 (09:28):
Yeah, So fighting for my life, fighting for the truth,
choosing not to lay down and die in prison. It's
absolutely foolish to not take a plea bargain of five
years probation when you're facing twenty five and nine nine years.
And I chose not to take it when I got
presented that as an nineteen year old kid before I

(09:51):
go to trial to prove or to fight for my
life and to prove that I did not do this
and I get to go back and live regular life.

Speaker 8 (10:00):
Fortunately, that wasn't the story that was written for me.

Speaker 9 (10:02):
So I chose not to take five years probation out
of this exercising of manhood for me to say, you
know what, I'm going to stand for the truth. I'm
not going to sit down and I'm not going to
stand in front of God, a judge and everyone I
love and say I did something I didn't do.

Speaker 8 (10:19):
So that required me to fight.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Greg Kelly from the doc Outcry is on Zoom with
Us this hour I've been telling us a bit about
fighting for his freedom after being wrongfully convicted of a crime.
And one of the things that I think is so
impressive about your whole story and just the way you've
been able to sort of carry on it and prosper really,
since that is your walk in faith, and I know
you recently started an online Bible study on YouTube as well,

(10:46):
what kind of topics are you going to be talking
about there.

Speaker 9 (10:49):
You know, to give you a backstory why studying the
Bible is so important to me. If you ask me
that one thing that made me get.

Speaker 8 (10:57):
Through all of it.

Speaker 9 (10:59):
Is whatever you put your whatever you put inside yourself,
you get right back out. It doesn't matter. It doesn't
need to be faith, it doesn't need to be anything.
It's just a universal principle of life. Whatever you put
in your mind, whatever you put in your soul, whatever
you entertain, and whatever you put in front of your
eyes will come back out and will make who you
are now. When I was in prison, I studied the
Word every day. I stayed in it, I read it,

(11:22):
I affirmed myself with it.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
I believe. I chose to believe it, and I chose
to apply it.

Speaker 9 (11:28):
Recently, I've writen my book, tapping back into my story,
doing a few projects that are going to be able
to tell my story.

Speaker 8 (11:37):
I have this. It's weird, man.

Speaker 9 (11:40):
It's like for a while when I first got out.
It's like in a fight. You know a lot about boxing,
you know about mma. Right when you're in the fight
and you're getting pounded and you're getting punched and you're
getting kicked in the ribs and you're getting cuts and
you're getting wounds, you don't feel it. Adrenaline's pumping, you're surviving.
You're in war, right.

Speaker 8 (12:01):
But after the fight, you give it a little time
and you get some sleep. In the very next day
you're hurting. Man.

Speaker 9 (12:07):
You know, you now feel the trauma. And maybe a
year or two I didn't feel as much. But right
around the year three and year four, year five, I'm
around year five now being exonerated.

Speaker 8 (12:20):
I feel it a lot.

Speaker 9 (12:22):
So staying in the work, doing the Bible studies online
on my YouTube channel, I am doing it more so
for me, but in hopes that somebody else will get
something out of it as well.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
That is beautiful, man, and that's really God's work. And
just again really proud of all the hard work you're
putting in. Congratulations man, on everything. One more thing I
want to get to though, quick break, and we're gonna
come back and wrap it up.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
You're the full.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
Interview now at On with Mario dot Com, Abby Holidays
from the entire On with Mario, fam more fest and
fun coming up.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
Wrap it up with Greg Kelly, Mario Lopez here and
Greg before you go. One last thing I want to
tease the.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
People with there's a film and development right now about
your experience. Proud to be partnering with you on Over
for Lifetime. We could look for it in twenty twenty six.
More info to come, but we'll be able to continue
to tell your story man, on yet another platform and
another way, the book, the movie.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
It's gonna be.

Speaker 8 (13:14):
Great, awesome, man. I am super pumped for this. I
I don't even.

Speaker 9 (13:18):
Know I'm when I'm supposed to share, but I'll tell
you what. Since you brought it up, it's been a pleasure, Mario,
getting to know you. It's been a pleasure being being
your friend.

Speaker 8 (13:26):
You're one of the realist people that I know. Brother.

Speaker 9 (13:29):
You You're nothing but being genuine, you know, and that's
why when you know I thought of you know, when
the La fires happened, I immediately thought of you, and
you know, maybe that's a reason why you know you're
You're so genuine and I don't I don't uh, I
don't usually get starstruck for people, but I've also I've
always got strong starstruckt for you because it's.

Speaker 8 (13:49):
Just an honor, dude to do this with you.

Speaker 9 (13:51):
And I can't wait to be able to uh to

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Oh man, I can't wait either, buddy, and I meanwhile,
I want every one to be sure to check out
the Vindication Foundation dot com for all the info on
how you can help.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
And for some reason you've never seen the Outcry doc.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
It's available for streaming right now on Hulu and a
few other places. But my man, Greg Kelly, I thank
you for your time. Look forward to seeing you soon,
and God bless your brother. Best to you and the family.

Speaker 8 (14:21):
Us Will Morio got Buss.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
It is that time of year again.

Speaker 7 (14:38):
Christmas wishes are back.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
You're all with Courtney.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Lopez, So think about what's on your Christmas wish list.
Better yet, imagine if your Christmas wish list really came true,
whether your wish list is get help with the bills,
Presents for the kids, maybe something special for someone special.
We are granting Christmas wishes all across America. Just tell
us your Christmas wish now by going to on with
Mario dot com slash wish, and maybe yours will be

(15:03):
granted this holiday season.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Brought to you by State farm.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
All.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
I'm trying to break the time from yesterday's game of
Mono Tune Mario and Courtney Lopez. Here we're trying to
guess Christmas songs based on the lyrics being read to us.
Tie it up in the end, it was a good
so we're gonna do a mini round to break the tie.
Let's get our hands on the buzzers.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
On with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
It's now time for mono tune.

Speaker 10 (15:27):
So yesterday you tied it up, so all you gotta
do is tell me the name of the song, not
the artist, because some of these songs may have been
done by multiple artists and all of that. Here we go,
hands on buzzers. Santa, tell me if you're really there,
don't make me fall in love again. If he won't
be here next year, Santa Mario, Santa Baby incorrect. Oh

(15:49):
I was confident about that.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
I did not buzz. Please keep reading.

Speaker 10 (15:52):
Santa, tell me if he really cares, because I can't
give it all away if he won't be here next year.
Feeling Christmas all around, and I'm trying to play it cool,
but it's hard to focus when I see him walking
across the room. Let its snow is blasting out, but
I won't get in the mood. I'm avoiding every missile
toe until I know it's true love that he thinks

(16:13):
of me. Santa, tell me, Courtney.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
Santa, tell me what you really care.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
He's the artist, you know.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Arianade is correct.

Speaker 10 (16:28):
It's one to zero. There's two more Merry Christmas, Saint Nick.
Christmas comes this time of year. Oh oh, well, way
up north where the air gets cold. There's a tale
about Christmas that you've all been told. And a real
famous cat, all dressed up in red, and he spends
the whole year working out on his sledge.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Who called Santa a cat?

Speaker 7 (16:52):
It's the little Saint Nick, Little Saint Nick, Mario, It's
a little Saint Nick, Little Saint Nick. You took a
guess absolutely the beach Boys.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah, because it's like you know, that had to be
an old song because who's that cat?

Speaker 10 (17:04):
Yeah, cat's like a seventies I like this sort of
phrase word, so yeah, they're like that.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Do you still say cats?

Speaker 7 (17:12):
Because I'm whole school? So it is one to one?

Speaker 8 (17:14):
All right?

Speaker 10 (17:15):
This is it, Tibaker for the tie breaker. Out of
all the Reindeers. You know you are the mastermind. Run
Run Rudolf, Rudolf, ain't too far behind. Run run Rudolf, Mario.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Run Rudoff.

Speaker 7 (17:29):
Run No, come on, hold on. Do you want to
take a guess really quick at the time?

Speaker 8 (17:34):
No?

Speaker 7 (17:34):
No, do you want to take a guess before Nichols judge?

Speaker 4 (17:38):
Run run rud Off.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
I think I got it. I think we have to
give it to him with this, Run run Rudoff. He
just got it out of Yeah, I got it. I
got it.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
You said it after me.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
You didn't want to guess.

Speaker 10 (17:52):
I was still trying to figure out the title.

Speaker 7 (17:56):
He basically said the title. He said it slightly out
of order.

Speaker 10 (17:59):
I was waiting another judge. You give me an answer
if you, I asked the judge. Everyone shut up. I
asked the judge for an answer. He had not given
me one. And then you said that you shouldn't have
said that yet because you didn't give an answer. So
then I went to the judge.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Give me a three weeks.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
You lose get what I'm Mary Christian, don't be a
sore loser.

Speaker 6 (18:18):
Happy holidays to you and yours. This is on with
Mario Lopez.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Won't be right back.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
The countdown to Christmas rolls on.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Oh my gosh, you guys are on with Courtney Lopez.
Just sixteen days until Santa arrives. I know this, but
when I say it out louded, actually it makes me
nervous because I think of all the stuff.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
I still have to do. Two weeks just about Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:42):
A few more songs.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I'm gonna stop in a Cordo's corner for some fresh
holiday hacks.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
What up, Mario Courtney Lopez? Here in the meantime, you got.

Speaker 7 (18:49):
A song you want to hear?

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Slide it intoor mentions over on Facebook or Rex add
on with Mario.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
You're Mario Courtney Lopez. Full steam ahead into the holidays.
But don't get stressed out. I was here with some
helpful holiday hacks. Would you got honey?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Well, this is a very helpful way to keeping your
gift giving organized. And I actually have been doing this
for years and never thought to tell people about it
until now.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
But it really helps.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
And now I'm going to tell you this is helpful
if you have to give gifts out to a lot
of people, assign a unique wrapping paper to each person
or group. So what I do is for the kids,
the Santa gifts, have one wrapping paper our family. That's

(19:37):
our gifts from to our family that stays in our home.
Have another your work gifts. I have another theme, got it,
And it just is easier. That's a real smart one
because I try and start early and then you forget.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
Yes, you know, and even.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Though I write the names on it and stuff, it
could just be so. I mean, I find that helpful,
you know, just simplifying the gift giving process for large
