whoever did it?

Speaker 5 (01:03):
How do you deny presenting posters? If it cameras were rolling.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Hey, I'm very confused by this headline and who got
the images and why are they there? And the whole

This is going on the night stand or the kitchen sink. No, no, no,
the bathroom, saint sink. You don't even know where you
put the set.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
And I twenty times I looked at it and said

Speaker 5 (01:45):
And I thought about it this morning again.

is today's holiday, honey, I.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Don't quite understand it, but it is International Picnic Day.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
That means it's time for the world to find a
park and do a little picnic or beach or.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
You have to have a picnic in a foreign country.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah, like, do I have a picnic in my backyard,
but make it Italy.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Oh, there you go with the themes. It's left to
your interpretation. I do like me a picnic. And in
our neighborhood on Sunday nights, they have these little free
concerts in the park, and I took the boys just
to kind of cruise the scene and check it out.
Well they they come correct our neighbors, I mean full on,
big spread bottles of wine everywhere and a big spread

(02:56):
of food. Park Is this this is a park? I
don't even know what it's I don't even know what
it's called either, but it's in our neighborhood and I'm like,
we're hitting it up on Sundays.

Speaker 3 (03:03):

at Courtney's corner?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Airline travel?

Speaker 6 (03:23):
So this is going viral on.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
TikTok, but it's a little naughty or at least passive aggressive.
There's a lot of debate over whether or not it's
okay to recline your seat back during a flight. If
you think it's not okay, this is what you can do.
Turn the air conditioner above you on full blast and
point it at the top of their head.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Well, first of all, I have an issue, So I'm.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Like even upset with myself for even saying this, because
I'm a seat recliner.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
It reclines for a reason. Yeah, And if you have
the option, then it's up to you whether you want
to recline or not. Now, if I happen to have
a larger individual behind me and it's really affecting them,
and if they want to put this trade down to eat,
then okay, I'll be gracious enough to not do that.

(04:13):
But if some skinny dudes back there and just doesn't
want me to recline. I'm sorry, but if I'm tired
and I want to take a little nap, I'm gonna recline.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
By the way, it's inches.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
They act like you're lying that exactly.

Speaker 2 (04:24):

or I think we don't need that, I still let.

Speaker 6 (06:20):
Him do it.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
He is so sweet. He'll go into his piggy bank,
he'll pay me the money. I let him think that
I'm taking it, and then when he leaves, I'll go
back in his room and put it back in the
piggy bank. But I want him to.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Think that he's doing that.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
That's all.

But he's just the sweetest. Gia, She's like, I have
a dad.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I got a call. I got a call from her.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
I enjoyed the video that you posted of the kids
all saying Happy Father's Day too, especially because Nico is like,
sometimes you tell me to slick my hair back and
it doesn't look good.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
You'll learn.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
And then Sonny at the end, like Gia and Nico
both had like really sort of longer things than at
the end, it's just Sonny going.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
He gets some point hits to the point.

Speaker 1 (07:00):

Speaker 2 (07:19):

Speaker 5 (07:20):
I forget that he actually was named that once.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
Blake has to be forty eight, has to be.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I actually thought he might be a little bit older.
I like Blake, though, I'm gonna say he is forty nine.
He is forty eight. Ooh, very good.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
And it's pronounced blocke, Okay Shelton.

Speaker 2 (08:02):

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Paul McCartney is seventy three, four.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Five, Paul McCartney is seventy six.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
You pick seventy three, seventy four and seventy five. You
pick seventy six. The answer is eighty two?

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Is he really eight eighty two?

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
He looks good man because he's still performing. So I

in today's guest zooms in. It is Jay Sean. You
may remember his big hit Down, which turns fifteen years
old this year.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
Baby are you Zound Down?

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Down, Down Down?

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Now he's crossing over to the business side of music
and discovering new talent that's gone completely unnoticed. Hello, did
you not just hear me? We'll find out what he's
up to next.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
What's up Yon? Mari Lopez joining me now on Zoom
singer songwriter Jay Shawn. Welcome to the show Man. What's up, bro?

Speaker 4 (09:31):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (09:32):
I'm doing well? Bud congrats on the launch of your
new label, three AM Entertainment. Yes, I like that title.
What are you hoping to achieve with this business?

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Yeah, so obviously it's a brand adventure for me. Having
been an artist myself for twenty years now, right, this
is sort of the next the next step in my career.
And the reason why I say up at three AM
was because twenty years ago, when I started as an artist,
I was the only South a doing mainstream music, which
is crazy because we're the biggest demographic on planet Earth.

(10:05):
There's at one point four billion, and yet there were
so few, if any South Asian artists in the mainstream
music industry. So I didn't really see that change over
the last twenty years much, right, So I guess my
thought process was, if the spotlight is not on us,
then you have to create the spotlight. You have to
be the spotlight. So I set up my own label
in order to promote more South Asian talent in the

(10:29):
mainstream music industry.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Good for you. How are you discovering these artists.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Loads of different ways?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Man?

Speaker 4 (10:36):
I mean nowadays, of course the most you know, it's insane,
but it's it's social media, you know, it's tik tok.
It's real. It's places where people are recording in their bedrooms.
You had to go to showcases first, you had to
to La or yet you know, and now the access, Yes,
exactly so. And also we're affiliated with a huge label

(10:56):
where ourselves are affiliated with a Virgin music group and
Range Media who are huge, massive, you know, behemous in
the industry. So to be able to have them with
us together as well, it really helps.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Well, good luck with all that, man. We got to
take a little break, but I'm gonna have more with
Jay Sean just a moment, so keep it lucked more.
Mario Lopez on the way, Mario Lopez here hanging out
with Jay Sean, and you've got a new single that
blends different cultures. Heartless. Tell me about that song.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yeah, so Heartless is a song which I did with Ikey,
who's a he's an Indian producer from Toronto. But what
he does also is blends you know, hip hop, R
and B with South Asian music and that's something that
I did twenty years ago. That's how I began, you know,
my music. It was always by sort of integrating the cultures.

(11:47):
And I grew up an R and B hip hop boy,
but also like you know, growing up in an Indian household,
we have Bollywood music, a bang of music, and so
it was very easy for us to blend those genres
and that's what we did back on this song Heartless,
And actually the new one just dropped pitcher Bitcher which
is bitcher bitch is like a Hindi Punjabbi word, which means,
I guess it's like you know, when you're trying to
max someone, you know what I mean, You're like trying

(12:08):
to spit game, and so it's like a flirtatious R
and B joint. But I'm singing in English and I
co wrote this with Eric Beninger, who's a huge of
course R and B artist legend, and so it's a
fun song. Man.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
That's cool, man. I like what you're doing with the
culture is right there. That's cool. Well, hang tight, gotta
play more music. Mario Lopez here, got Jay Sean on
zoom with me and we were just talking about your
latest singles and this is all part of a new
album called Last Call. What can you tease us about that? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:38):
I mean, Mario, you know what it is, bro. I
didn't do an album for a number of years because
I saw the industry changing. I saw how it became
all about content and consistency in content, rather than oh
I loved your last album, I guess I gotta wait
another four years until you find inspiration for the next one,
you know, And it wasn't, and I thought, forget that.
Let's just put out content, put out songs, and I

(12:59):
can put out anything I want in any order. I
can skip genres, which I do like to do. But
on this album it's like a body of work. It's
me almost returning back to my origins and doing what
I do best, which is knowing how to blend these
these beautiful genres and putting them onto one body of work.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, no, I can appreciate that. Well, looking forward to
last call, hold on, Jay got to play some more music.
You're al Mario Lopez wrapping things up with our guest
Jay Sean, and I know you just wrapped up a
series of Days of the UK. Yeah, what were your
favorite What were your favorite parts of doing those shows?

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Man, it was amazing. So obviously London is where I began,
you know, It's where it all kicked off for me.
And going back because since then I, you know, I
broke America in two thousand and nine when I signed
to Cash Money, and I had obviously the huge hit
down which launched me straight into I just couldn't go home.
I remember calling my mom once. I was like, Mom,

(13:52):
I don't think I'm coming back. I think I kind
of live in America now, Like what do you mean?
I was like, Mom, you don't understand how big America is.
I was like, each state is like our country, and
so like I was in America so much, ended up
living here. So now I live in New York. So
to go back home was really really nice to be
back where it all began.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
So you mentioned down, It's funny it's turning fifteen years
old this year. And I don't know why I remember this,
but fifteen years ago, I'm interviewing Taylor Swift on the
red carpet. I forgot what Award Show was, to be honest,
I think I think it was a gram as a
matter of fact, And I said, what song was currently
stuck in your head right now? And she said down,

(14:33):
Oh wow, I don't forget that. I don't know why
I remember that, but I thought that was it. And
she's saying it for me. She's saying it for me,
for she did the whole thing. She goes. I just
can't get it out of my head.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Oh, that's amazing that. It was an incredible moment.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
You know.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
It was an amazing time for me. And to be honest,
I didn't expect much when I came to America. I
was like, so big, hardly anybody breaks America from overseas.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
If but I don't do it.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
At least I'd got everything else I've managed to achieve.
But when your first song goes number one Billboard, Bro,
I was like, Okay, how do you want to miss up?
But we did. We put it out, but do you
remember which was another smash and then it went onto
twenty two. Lots of other good stuff. But it's been
a wonderful journey, man, just looking back.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Good for you, man, Yeah, American Dream right there. Well,
you can listen to Heartless on iHeartRadio or wherever you
get new music. Jay. Good luck with three AM, and
thanks for hanging out today.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Thank you, Bro.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Get to see you man, you too. I take care.

Speaker 1 (15:24):

the year to open with more than one hundred million dollars.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
I was wondering why you didn't take them to see
that as opposed to Garfield. Here's why hire you? Hey, Garfield.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
No, it's because I have.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
This weekend coming up too, and I figured it's something
good to do to keep them busy on a Sunday
because you're out of town again this weekend. And I
gave them the choice.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Oh, you gave them the choice.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
I gave them the.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Choice, and I knew they wanted to see Inside Out,
so I looked that one up first, and you pre
select your seats and they weren't great seats. Farfield had
way more open. So now I'm going to pre plan

announcement you were for loop.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
I don't believe that.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
But she'll just leave it at that. I what do
you think about that, honey.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
I mean, it's it's very interesting. I'm thinking I'm putting
myself in their shoes.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
If no, how can you even think about that? You can't.
You can't have the brothers. If your sister said you
want me to, like, yeah, your.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Sister came to you and said, listen, I need Mario
to father my children, my daughter niece for.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
You, it would it would be his daughter niece.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
And surprised with this family.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
No, but that's one of the whole thing. IS's not
the IVF. It's about asking the brother in law. That's weird.

Speaker 6 (18:51):
I can't wait to hear it.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Oh nice, We'll get some bops up in there. All right,
let's get back to the music. You're ald Mario Courtney Lopez.
I'm not one last saying there's a trend among teenage
boys facial fitness gum. They're chewing tough strips of gum
in hopes of achieving a more masculine jawline. Doctors are skeptical.

(19:13):
They say men naturally lose fat in their face as
they age into their twenties and thirties. Yes, I posted
this headline, not you.

Speaker 6 (19:21):
You don't lost any fat in your face.

Speaker 5 (19:23):
No, he doesn't have fat face. His face got his
face got wider though.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
No, no, no, no, I did not get wider both you guys. No,
I'm saying no, no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
I mean that is the biggest compliment because as we
get older, women especially, we lose the collagen. We lose
all of that, so it ages us.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Yeah, but I got a little bit more of a
jaw line than I did when I was That's that's
the that's the.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Point kids, that's one of his kids. Yeah, that's what
I was saying, Like, as you age, it happens.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
But no, I'm jealous.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
I'm well, yeah, because sometimes I guys get even even
rounder and I have a feeling our son will be
asking for this gum later on.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
All right, time for us to punch out, but we
are back tomorrow with a new case in Courtney's.
