Speaker 1 (00:00):
I had won with Mario Lopez halfway through the week.
A lot of fun to get into on this Wednesday,
Mario Lopez, here's Zuri Hall for my show Access Hollywood,
zooming in a little later to talk American Ninja Warrior
and more. Plus going to hand out a good deed Lopezy,
serve up some fresh justice in Courtney's court. And very
excited because we're just a few songs away from catching
(00:21):
up with Beverly Hills Cop four star judge Reine Hold.
So turn it up. You're on with Mario Lopez. What's up, bro?
Mario Lopez joining on Zoom from Beverly Hills Cop axel
actor Judge Ryan Hold. Welcome to the show man. How
are you?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Thank you? We're doing great.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
We had a screening, actually it was our premiere on
the twentieth on Thursday night, sorry Thursday night, and it
played so well. I'm very excited about it. I think
it's the best one we've done since the first one.
So yeah, we're excited. That's never been a movie before either,
which is fine.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
The screen is that the one that was literally in
Beverly Hills at the Beverly Hills Police Department.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, and then the mayor was there and they made
it officially Beverly Hills Cop Day and I said, does
that mean we don't need permits anymore?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
And he said, bust out the card when you need it.
It's it's pretty mind blowing to think that it's forty
years right since the original forty eight years. I absolutely
love that. What what's Rosewood up to in this movie?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Well, he's not as naive anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
He's uh, he's still very affable fellow, but he's a
badass detective. I think I think Axel rubbed off on
him and he's, uh, what what happens is he.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
He breaks a case, that breaks a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
That's kind of all like it's Axel against tremendous power again.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Basically, well, you can stream Beverly Hills cop Axel f
right right now on Netflix. Can play a few more
songs than more would Judge Reinhold more.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Talking Beverly Hills Cop Back, So left with actor Judge Reinhold.
You're on, Mario Lopez and Judge. Do viewers need to
be familiar with the original or the franchise to enjoy
this one? Or can Neubies just jump in.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
We were so interested in having people discover the franchise.
We made sure that that wasn't necessary because we wanted
all this, wanted them to go back in a new
generation that hasn't isn't aware of the other ones.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
We wanted them to go back and want to see those.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
And I'm actually beyond the business part, which I don't
have anything to do with. I'm excited about a new
generation experiencing the first one because we're so proud of
the first one because it it really launched a genre.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
You know, at the time, Mario, at the time in
eighty four.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Mixing in the action and the comedy together, the tonal changes,
you know, we didn't know if that would work, and
it was exciting and edgy, and it paid off, and
we kind of launched a genre.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
You know, you really did, because there were all the
all the cop shows were real or the movies I
should say were were very serious, and they didn't they
didn't blend the two. So you totally launched a genre
to huge success. All Right, we're gonna play some music
and come back with Judge Reinhold. Getting back to Judge
rein Hold, who's hanging on Zoom talking, Beverly Hills, Cop
Axel f Mario Lopez here and Judge. I was just curious,
(03:33):
in doing this movie or even in the original, was
there a lot of improv on set working with Eddie
or did would you pretty much suck to the script?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Oh, this one, yeah, or any of them? That's work?
Yeah on this one.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Well, whenever you have a director that's one of the writers,
you don't really get to improvise too much because they're.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Pretty precious with the words. But ed Eddie did.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
You're not going to tell Eddione yeah, you can get
away with it, and he's I know it sounds hypey,
but you got to see for yourself. But Eddie is very,
very funny in this movie. I was It's just so
much fun to see him play Axel again.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Man, it just fits when the three of us were together,
it just it just works.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
It's a chemistry. I guess yeah. It it was like
we picked up where we left off that.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
We have a scene in a unmarked car where he yeah,
the three of us are in it, and that was
our first night together and we hadn't seen each other
in years, not like ten years, and he got in
the car and looked.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
At us and said, well, at least we still resemble
our character.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Now, you guys look good?
Speaker 5 (04:43):
All right?
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Well, everyone can see Beverly Eels cop axel F now
streaming on Netflix. Judge, hang tight for me, a couple
of songs. We're gonna have more with Judge ryno A
Mario Lopez catching up with Judge Ryan hold this hour.
Now we've talked Beverly Eels cop AXLF, but you've actually
been in a few of my favorite films. I mean,
a Fast Time's got to be not just one of
(05:04):
the best soundtracks, but one of the greatest high school films.
It represents such an awesome era. The mall no longer
essentially exists, and when you look at Fast Times now
with the mall and you work it, I mean, it
was just so awesome At the time. Did you feel
you were doing something special and it would be a
classic or did it take a few years to realize that, Judge.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Well, we didn't know what the eighties were, you know,
but we did feel right, But we did feel that
we were doing something special. Because Cameron Crow masqueraded as
a senior in a Long Beach high school for a year.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I don't know if you know the story or not,
but he.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Was working for Rolling Stone and so he was hired
to create an expose of high school life. And in
his twenties, he still looked like he could pull out
being a senior, and so he spent a whole whole
school year transcribing all that these great conversations and stuff,
and they made it into the film. So we felt
like we were authentic that way because we knew a
(06:07):
lot of the dialogue came from the kids.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
So it was so awesome and still holds up. All right, Judge,
hang on, God, one more thing I want to ask
quick break, and we're gonna come back and wrap it
up with Judge Reynolds.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
We're wrapping up with Judge Ryan hold your own, Mario Lopez.
And before we go, where are you from?
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Originally, Judge, originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia, outside of DC, but
at that time it was rural Virginia.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, and I went down.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I got a job at the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater
down in Supiter, Florida.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
I was one of the first apprentices down.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
There, I know, and what age you come to la.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
People that I met at that theater, James Best, who
was in Dukes of Hazard, who is Actually he played
a sheriff in Dukes of Hazard. But it was a
very serious, really terrific accomplished actor.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
That wasn't Roscoe Peaco Train.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Wasn't that?
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Ye?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
That was him, He's the best.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
That was my mentor.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Roscoe Peaco Train was your mentor. Yeah, due, this story
is getting more awesome.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Jimmy was very different. That was you know that that
that role was not him?
Speaker 1 (07:19):
But freaking love Dukes of Hazzard.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
I loved him him, Yeah, yeah he He and Bert
went way back.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
That's funny.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Jimmy was. He was one of the studio system.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
He was.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
He told the stories about how when he.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Was a contract player for Universal, Uh, he would play
a Native American and get shot by a cowboy and
then in the same movie be a cowboy and shoot
shoot the.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
In the same diverse. He's got creative flexibility. I like it.
All these are great.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
All you needed, all you needed was makeup. Then Yeah,
is back there?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Oh man, I can talk to you for all day
right here. It's such a pleasure. I appreciate you taking
the time, jank you and I look seeing you in person,
my man. Listen. You can watch Beverly Hills cop axel
F streaming right now on Netflix. Judge, thanks so much
for hanging out. What up Mario Lopez?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Here?
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Fans are going gaga over the trailer to Joker Too.
It's become the most talked about trailer since Barbie the
original movie earned a billion dollars.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
That's wild.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
So with Gaga joining the cast, Warner Brothers is setting
its sights on Barbie's one point four billion dollar box office.
Might have a musical element to it as well. I'm
hearing Joker Too drop it in theaters in October. Amar
and Courtney Lopez and uh missus Lopez had quite the
accident the other day at Casa Lopez in our own home,
(08:49):
so much so she busted her head wide open and
needed stitches.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
What open stitches?
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Is that? An original?
Speaker 6 (08:56):
Wide open spaces?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I would have preferred you do a pot read so
we'd head. It would have been much better. You're doing that,
so disappointed?
Speaker 5 (09:05):
Shit?
Speaker 1 (09:06):
What I did you not? She did it original and
we're just like no tree had creed anyway? What happened
your head? Let me, let me explain. May I, may,
I you may. We were having a conversation walking down
a hallway in our home that she's walked down ten
thousand times, right a day, a day. Yeah, yeah yeah,
(09:26):
And for some reason, as she's turning and talking to me,
she decides to make a hard right right into the
pillar made of solid marble in our home. Bam, busted
her head open.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
A pillar which is square, it's not round.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
You're the corner. I hit the corner. Oh my god,
I mean you could have hit it round squired as
the matter. She hit it so hard it would have
busted her head. And when she turned the blood I
looked at it, let me see, and I immediately said,
you're gonna need.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
To just rally here.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
We fine. No, I said you're gonna need stitches, and
she said, no, I think it'll be fine to go.
Trust me. I've busted open enough, you're gonna need shitches.
Sure enough. Called the doctor and I had a picture,
sent a picture and they go, oh yeah, she's gonna
definitely need stitches, and got it at least taken care
of right away.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
You really came to the rescue, You really really did.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
You put the stitches in. You would have I would
I could have, but see, it was important to go
to a doctor that knows what they're doing, as opposed
to an er doctor. Because that's why I have this
Frankenstein's car.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Oh, because they just go quick and they're like sloppy
with it, but they're not good at.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
What they do.
Speaker 6 (10:29):
They're having a plastic surgeon who does that. He's like
an artist, right exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
They closed the room, but a plast surgeon won't be
able to tell that's that's there. I want to know,
why did you decide to walk into the pillar?
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Do you think if I knew that, I would have
done that.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
You walked by it that I thought I was understand.
I don't understand. It was one of those that happened
so quick. I couldn't even say hey, it was just
just happened, like hold on, what did you say though,
because I can imagine be like, no, what.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Are you doing?
Speaker 1 (10:56):
It was like it was I'm talking like this. I
literally asked.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
We were about to leave the house, and I turned
to him and said, do I need my purse? And
then I turned and instead of walking straight, I just
made I went to the right. And that was it
and I thought I chipped my tooth because it was
on the left side. Because I hit my tooth, you.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Took it like a champo. You're tough.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
You didn't cry or much.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
I don't play more Mario Lopez coming up, All Mario.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Says and knows. Yep, she is thirty two.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Thirty five, thirty five is correct, a from the newsroom
with a bunch of other stuff. Olivia Munn new mom too.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
She is.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
She had a baby recess new man, a new man. Yeah,
And unfortunately on the heels of that, she had some
health battles that she was vocal with. Oh but I
think she's she's doing all right. I think she is
forty one forty forty four, Okay. From top Gun, top
Gun to all the mission impossibles and everything else. Thomas
(12:52):
Maypother aka Tom Cruise.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
Yes, Tom Cruise is sixty three sixty.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Five sixty two wow. And Kamala Harris's ex Montel Williams
Montell Williams, my man's got to be sixty six sixty
five sixty eight woo. Mario Lopez coming up, keeping the
music coming your ways and quickly put a spotlight on
my wife. Mario Lopez. Here a time for Courtney's random thought.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
Why are these spiders called daddy long legs? Why don't
we just call them long legs? Like, why do we
call them daddy Because it's the.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Male spiders who have the long legs, not the females,
hence daddy. What do the females look like, Yeah, they
have little short legs. They're like me, the mommy long legs. Yes,
the short legs. Three, yes, Mackney short legs. By the way,
I completely made that up, but it sounded good. That's
(14:02):
Mario Lopez here in today's guest is a good buddy
of mine, Zuri Hall, not just from Access Hollywood, but
she's also a correspondent on American Ninja Warrior. Season sixteen
is currently airing. Now, we're gonna find out what's in
store when the Ninja's hit the Semis. But first gotta
play some more music. Bro Mario Lopez joining on on
zoom my girl from Access Hollywood and American Ninja Warriors.
(14:25):
Zuri Hall, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Zuri, Hi, Mario, longtime, no see, it's been like twelve
hours since we were last on set together.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
I know, I know, I'm sure you have Mario overload
at this point, but no, never that's what I'm talking about.
Before we get to the show, we got to talk
about your ig adventures. When you're partying in France, man,
that's the best gig right there. I saw you popping bottles.
Will you kicking it with Ronaldo and Steve Nash? What's
up with that?
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah. So every year I go out to
co Emc a gala for Patrick Mungrotoglu. He was Serena's
coach for ma of her most incredible and impressive years,
and he has an awesome foundation that helps support young
tennis prodigies who basically are the future. So Cocoa Goff
is one of the most recent tennis prodigies to come
(15:13):
out of his academy. We auctioned off her signed racket
that she used to win the US Open this year,
and it's fun and everyone's in the South of France.
They're partying it up. Champagne is flowing, tennis is being played,
not by me because I'm not particularly athletic, but it's
a good time.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
I bet it is. I bet that.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
What's up with the French dudes out there?
Speaker 2 (15:32):
How do you like them?
Speaker 5 (15:33):
I mean, I like the French jukes and the French
dudes like me.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I bet they do.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
I love a man with an accent, so I was
definitely in my element. It was it was a lot
of fun. You know, we're we're outside, we're mingling in summer.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
So hey, you do you?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
You do? You?
Speaker 5 (15:51):
All right?
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Zuri? A lots more to talk about, Hank time. We're
gonna have more with Zouri Hall coming up.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
We'll be right back to Mario Lopez.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Mario Lopez here getting back to Zuri, who is on
zoom and congrat Season sixteen of American Ninjau Warrior in
full swing. What's been the most exciting part about this season?
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Ooh?
Speaker 5 (16:09):
What's most exciting about this season?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
You know?
Speaker 5 (16:11):
I mean every year we kind of raise the stakes.
The obstacle courses get crazier, they get bigger, a million
dollars of course on the line every single year. And
what's really cool is we have a lot of the
older ninjas who are still you know, doing their thing.
They're the ogs out there. But then these new ninjas,
the younger ones. Our age limit has been lower to
fifteen years old, so we get these kids who grew
(16:31):
up in Ninja Junior and now they are beasting it
on the course. So it's kind of fun to see
the ogs, the vets versus you know, the rookies or
the new kids on the block. But yeah, you can
expect more of what you love at the end of
the day. It's a family show. I love that it's
multi generational. You can watch it with the kids, you
can watch it with White Key, you can watch it
with your grandparents. It just runs the gamut. So that's
(16:53):
my favorite thing about it. And there's going to be
more of that for sure this summer.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Well, you can watch American Ninjooria Mondays on NBC. We're
going to more with Zouri Hall coming up after a
little more music talking American Ninja Warrior was Zuri Hall.
Mario Lopez here, And I know you've had Olympic athletes
compete on the course. Are they killing it? Are they
struggling just as much as the other guys, Because I
remember back in the day, rock climbers were the guys.
Rock climbers were really pot because they're strong hands. I
(17:17):
remember they they used to have strength is.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Really important, upper body strength because you're just like swinging
your body so many things, the salmon ladders nuts. What's
funny is people who are professional athletes will get up
there and be like, I'm about to crush this course,
like I do this in my sleep, and they will
face plan it first, second, third, obstacle because it's just
a different type of sport. It requires different muscles, a
(17:41):
different mindset. So yeah, we get some Olympians up there,
but that doesn't mean they going for gold. You gotta watch, but.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, y'all. Mario Lopez Zuri
Hall is on with us talking about American Ninja Warrior,
and this is cool. The Ninja course is being considered
for the twenty twenty four Games.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
That be.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
That's come a long way. That'd be awesome right there.
And I know you're going to be going for Paris,
right you're going back to Paris.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
I told you the French they're they're calling me. I
have to answer the golf for a week before the Olympics. Uh, Mario,
you'll be here in La right now.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
I'm the only one not going boo.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
I change us to night. It's okay. I'll bring you
back in Croissant. But yeah, we'll be out there doing
some lifestyle coverage, hanging out with some of the Olympians,
and just getting people excited leading up to the Games
in Paris.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
So yes, Lopez wrapping it up Assouri Hall. Mario Lopez
here and before you go. You're also going to be
hosting the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks for NBC. That's cool.
Where is that at?
Speaker 5 (18:44):
So that's in New York. It's super exciting. I'm co
hosting alongside Mickey Guiden and she's incredible, really dope country artists.
I'm just also a really nice person. We're friendly. It's
a two hour live event. It's airing July fourth, eight
pm Eastern and Pacific I see, and then we'll also
simulcast it live on Peacock And it's really cool because
(19:04):
we're like right by the water. We get this crazy
fireworks display. We have a ton of performers. Last year,
Ashanti and John Rule were two of the performers we had.
I think it was a Tina Turner tribute. This year,
Lady Wilson is performing. I love her music. I love
a little country moment. I think we've got Louise Fonzie
also performing.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Very cool.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
It'll be fun.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Meanwhile, American Ninja Warrior eras Monday on NBC and Peacock, Surrey.
Thanks for hanging out.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Thanks Mario, y'all.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Maril Courtney Lopez quickly going over to my wife to
see what weird holiday we're celebrating today? What do we got?
Speaker 6 (19:42):
It is National Eat Beans Day and then run and
get tons of toilet paper.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Listen, beans are great source of iron. And I love
me some black beans, in particular, over some rice. Mix
it up with a little meat. Right there, beans go
black beans. The brown beans from the pand right there
are really good. And then.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
You got me addicted to flour tortillas with was it
butter and the brown beans?
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Ye oh, my gosh, that sounds solicious. Those are good.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
Was there a cheese involved?
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Yes, there is cheese. You put this this Mexican cheese.
Not well, you can't use the help. But the other
thicker one, it's called bla. It's really good. My dad, well,
my grandmother always did this growing up with the when
if you really want some tasty reef fried brains, she
puts lard in them. Oh yeah, and it tastes amazing
on a warm tortilla.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Forget about it.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Lard is not good for you, but it tastes amazing.
It does maar Courtney Lopez, and I think we're gonna
squeeze in some fresh justice while we have them in
it all rise at his time for Courtney's Court.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
Do we have a plank? We have the bailiff here.
We have an actual bailiff in court and he's sleeping.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Correct, correct, actually what he wants what he doesn't work,
But he doesn't work. It's a great best job ever.
This is from at John Tobvers and my brother finally
admitted to doing something that I took the blame for
over thirty years ago. And I got into serious trouble
back in the day again for something I didn't even do.
I feel like I should get to do something to
get him back. But my wife says that's just childish.
(21:24):
Please tell her she's wrong.
Speaker 6 (21:28):
Look, you know, I think brothers and sisters always take
the blame for something here and there one time and another.
I think it's just you know, something you can laugh
about and look back on it. Now, tell your parents
the truth and maybe they can punish him in a
different way. And if you want to play a little
prank on him, that's fine too. But I don't think
(21:48):
it should get serious.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Not serious. But I think he can be vindictive only
because it's his brother. If it wasn't his brother, then
it would just be petty. He needs to get over
because if it's your brother, you can always kind of
life long feuds.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
Like yeah, order in the court. I didn't tell you
you could talk, but that's what I think.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Get your sleepy bailiff on me. Then he's unconscious.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
More Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
You're all, Mario Lopez. Let's talk divas for a moment.
Which of these seems like a more baller move? First,
their Cher who says she only dates younger men because
all the men her age are dead. Well, I mean

People magazine had put it up. Only share can get
(22:37):
away with something like that, I feel. And then you
have Mariah who went to Universal to ride the roller
coasters and had her hair person waiting with a brush
as soon as she stepped off of it. Well, one
is diva behavior, the other is legend behavior.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Yeah. That more Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Okay, that's it. Thanks again to both judge Ryan Hold
and Zouri Hall for joining us on Mario dot com.
Check out more of my conversations with both. More fun
tomorrow is if we celebrate the Fourth of July by
talking barbecue with the offices. Brian Bomgartner plus one of
his castmates, Kate Flannery, will be here to recap her
time on The Masked Singer. Till then, Mario Lopez saying
(23:16):
good night.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
