Speaker 5 (05:42):
So tomorrow we're gonna do a mini pop quiz to

Speaker 1 (05:48):
The Countdown at Christmas continues in moments. This is on
with Mario.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Lopez, Mario Courney Lopez here and a.

Speaker 6 (05:55):
Movie I'm looking forward to.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
It's called Unstoppable and it's starring Jennifer Lopez and I
believe she produced it also with her ex Ben Affleck.
It tells the true story of Anthony Robeless who was
born with one leg, but he still earned a spot
on the Arizona State wrestling team and he was good too.
We're gonna definitely see that, yeah, for sure. All right,
let's get back to music, yall, Mario Lopez, few more

(06:18):
songs and we're going to talk all things Christmas with
Kelly Clarkson.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Next.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Ah, Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom to talk
about Christmas music and more.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
Kelly Clarkson, thank you.

Speaker 8 (06:29):
That was a great intro.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Thank you for taking the time.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
You've got a brand new holiday song that's called You
for Christmas and it's rocking in the tradition of the
Rawnetts and Darlene Love.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
I love your Christmas songs. I use it whenever.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
You know how on Instagram you could use a song
for a picture and all that.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
I always hear a song. I think I might have
told you that before. So I love this. It is
that what you're shooting for with this one. That's sort
of a throwback sound.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
I'm always shooting for a throwback sound. It was funny
because it was really random how Mark Ronson and I
ended up working together. I literally just mentioned his name
for something and my label executive Julie Greenwall was like, oh,
She's like, well, I'll just give him a call.

Speaker 8 (07:10):
And I was like, I'm sorry what and she was
and she was like, yeah, I'll just.

Speaker 7 (07:14):
Call him and see if he's into it or if
he's like available to work because he's always doing like
a billion projects and anyway, I I'm hearing myself back
in this. Sorry that's weird, but anyway, so we ended
up we were supposed to just do sleigh Ride like
the just a like a newer version of sleigh Ride,
and it was going to be a duet with someone
and it was kind of a different whole thing.

Speaker 8 (07:33):
And then we both were like.

Speaker 7 (07:34):
He was like, man, it'd be cool if we could
write something too, and I was like that's what I said.

Speaker 8 (07:37):
I was like, I love writing Christmas music and he
was like, well, what's your vibe?

Speaker 7 (07:40):
And literally, my vibe I tell everyone I always work
with is I wanted to feel like it's been around
for thirty years, Like I love that vintage sound, and
I just I love singing in that style as well.

Speaker 8 (07:52):
So it's you know, it's kind of a cheat for me.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
I get to cheat and kind of go with that
Rosemary cleaning Vibe and that throwback Darlene love Vibe and
I love it so then we ended up we wrote
this song so fast. I was at my cabin in Montana,
and I don't know if he was in the country.
I think he might have been out of the country,
but we wrote it.

Speaker 8 (08:10):
I kind of said a vibe. He sent a track.

Speaker 7 (08:12):
I ended up writing a melody. Then he brought his
partner in, Andrew, and it was written so fast, which
is usually like the best songs because you don't have
to try.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
A Kelly Well Hank tag.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
We're gonna have more with Kelly Clarkson coming.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Up, Cabby Holidays from the entire on with Mario, fam
more fest and fun coming.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Up, catching up with Kelly Clarkson, You're All with Mario
Lopez and the new song part of a re release
of your two thousand or if your twenty twenty one album.
I should say it's a deluxe edition retitled When Christmas
Comes Around Again?

Speaker 6 (08:43):
What other gifts can we expect from this?

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Well?

Speaker 8 (08:45):
It was I thought that was pretty. That was the
label on. That was Julie's team. She was like, what
if we called it when Christmas? Because if we didn't.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
They were like, we could release it just as like
you know, an ab side kind of thing, or well,
you're just add it on your last album.

Speaker 8 (08:58):
I was like, oh, this is at it that way.

Speaker 7 (08:59):
If people are looking for my Christmas music in general,
there's two albums you can go to to find Matt.
So anyway, so we ended up adding it, and they
came up with a little cute, clever way of when
Christmas comes around again. And it the coolest part I
think too, other than writing this song with Mark, was
we actually recorded sleigh Ride, which is the Ronette song,
which I love that song and I'd never actually.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
Sang that before.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
We recorded it one way and then we literally scraped
that ended up completely changing the vibe of the song
and recording it again another way, and I love that
he was into that. I don't like working with people
that are married to something and that's like just this
idea and you have to stick to it because sometimes
you get in the studio and you figure something else
out and you're like, this doesn't feel like as cool

(09:42):
as it can be. So anyway, we went back in
and re recorded sleigh Ride and I love it.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Kelly Clarkson on Zoom with Me, you're Alin Mario Lopez.
And there are those Kelly that say that you're a
nippot on the heels. Here of Mariah Carey being the
true Queen of Christmas on.

Speaker 7 (09:59):
Christmas, I don't you know what, I don't even need
a crown. I just love singing them. I just need
a mic. Didn't keep the crown. I mean, that's like
the record I grew up on I think we both
grew up on at Christmas time, is that it is
her first Merry Christmas like record. I love our second
one as well, but that first one is just so
classic for me. And honestly, I know everybody always talks
about all the Way for Christmas is You, which is

(10:20):
like the best song at Christmas, but my favorite I
always say if that album is Missy most it's so.

Speaker 8 (10:25):
Sad, yeah, so good, and I just I don't know.

Speaker 7 (10:28):
I think it's awesome when people write music that is
not always happy and cheerful, you know, because Christmas isn't
that for everyone, you know, so they need something to
listen to as well. So but yeah, no, I'll take
a mic, not a crown.

Speaker 8 (10:41):
I don't need a crown.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Rabbing up with Kelly Clarkson, You're All with Mario Lopez
and Real Quick, Just a couple of holiday questions for you.
What what's the lab do you think to be the
most fun to hang out with during the holidays.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
Oh, honestly, maybe Mariah, Like, I mean, she does Christmas well, y'all.

Speaker 8 (11:01):
So actually maybe if.

Speaker 7 (11:02):
I'm gonna go there, and especially Chris, I love music,
so like maybe maybe her. I'd love to I'd love
to just sing harmony with her in her house while
she's singing.

Speaker 8 (11:13):
And no, I think she'd be pretty fun.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
I want to go to that Christmas party. What would
what would your elf name be?

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (11:21):
My elf name? I feel like you're my daughter right now.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
She makes me.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
We go to this book of Naming.

Speaker 7 (11:25):
Your fair You get a fairy name and you have
to answer all these questions literally almost every night.

Speaker 8 (11:32):
My elf name.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
Hmm, I don't even know what that means.

Speaker 8 (11:36):
I don't either.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
But maybe it's the changing of the spelling. Maybe it's
more Irish. I don't know why they're in Irish, but
like maybe it's like hey E L L E I
G H.

Speaker 8 (11:44):
Maybe that's it. The spelling is different.

Speaker 6 (11:46):
There you go it sounds smaller too.

Speaker 8 (11:48):
It's a little change, but it's a little thing. Yes,
it is.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Well, Kelly, you know I love you and it's always
great to visit with you and listen. She might just
be the Queen of Christmas one of these days, officially, Kelly.

Speaker 8 (11:59):
Clarks, she can be.

Speaker 7 (12:01):
I like Mala Maria, so I grew up on that.
So she technically carries that crown. But like I said,
I just want the mic because I want to sing along.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
So fair enough, fair enough. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Sweety God bless, Oh God bless.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Happy Holidays to you and yours. This is on with
Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (12:18):

because he has private elfcare. He has private elfcare?

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Ha ha ha.

the results? Jen X played the heck out of some
Aerosmith and Phil Collins.

Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
Here what you got for us today?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
This is from Captain Saint to con And they said,
I mean, I love Christmas, but the Grizwolds allowing both
sets of parents to arrive ten days before Christmas is
the most insane Christmas decision in the history of holiday cinema.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
That's why it makes it a great movie.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
So my mother in law lives with us, I think
I mentioned here before, and.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
She's their way ten days sixty.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Five days before Christmas.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
And my parents come and visit a lot, but they
usually come maybe three four days before Christmas.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Oh before Christmas?

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Yes, oh yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Mean not a good ten three four days and they
kind of do their own thing.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
But here's the thing I used to like when they
come with the parents help you out a lot. Now
we got to pick up after them.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
And it is your dads will make a mess in
the kitchen at like two am. Yes, and then the
moms don't do anything. It's like they come and just
kick it.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
All they want to do is sit and play card games.
And I'm like, no, I need you over here. I'm
helping me.

Speaker 6 (14:10):
Yes, vacuum.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Miss they helped out more. They can come ten days.
But now it's like we got eight kids got to
watch after.

Speaker 1 (14:16):

Speaker 2 (14:40):

Feel Like Christmas, which now has more than thirty one
million spins on YouTube.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Mario Courtney Lopez here.

Speaker 2 (14:55):

Speaker 3 (15:09):
It was so much fun. I am so proud of
our son. He really, I'm not just saying this. I'm
not biased. Maybe I am, but.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
You're a little biased. He but I would not, but
he still did it.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
But I would not put him in something if I
didn't think he could do it. Because I'm not delusional.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
You're all Mario Courtney Lopez doing our part to try
and ease the holiday stress by sharing gift ideas. Today,
Fraser finalists for us, we're going to break it down
and give our thoughts.

Speaker 4 (15:35):

and these are Mario Lopez things. Also, these are Mario
Lopez products that are out there. You know what, These

I think you're probably right. But let's see. If you
have a little kid, maybe some Mario Lopez children's clothing.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
You know, that's my best seller.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
And I often get tagged and picks with these little
kids in the clothes and they look so cute, super cute.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Can I piggyback on that?

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
There's also the boys underwear oh there, because really the
quality is great.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
Mario Lopez dog peepee pads, Yes for your pets, for
your pets, which we learned they're the most appreciative gift

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Never talk back, never complain, They're the best.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Mario Lopez wipes for men.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
That is the most talked about product. Daily Mail decided
to do a full blown, huge article about it.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
You couldn't pay for that kind of advertising.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
And then there's tons of TikTok videos where people giving
their reviews and they love it.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
But I'll take it. You need it all day. You
need to cover your kicks. Mario Lopez shoes.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
That in all seriousness is a great product because well made, fun,
stylish and really really affordable.

Speaker 5 (16:50):
A lot of different versions of them, Yeah, different styles.
Mario Lopez cologne. There's two versions, red and blue. Maybe
you can tell us what that means is a little.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
More for nighttime when you're read.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Let me just say, Santo, red is for your mistress,
Blue is for your wife.

Speaker 6 (17:07):
Wow, I did not believe it.

Speaker 5 (17:09):
That would have that marketing campaign from the beginning Wow,
that's for my wife. And finally a Mario Lopez men's
grooming kit.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
That's that's right.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
You gotta keep a dial.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
The happy holidays to you and yours. This is on
with Mario Lopez. We'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Music continues in just a moment for some quick buzzs.
We got details of the next big music biopic. Ooh,
I love these This time is George Clinton from Parliament
funking delic Yes, and Eddie Murphy's gonna play him what
this is cool? It's gonna be directed by the guy
who made dream Girls. In that movie of course, earned
Eddie and Oscar nam George Clinton helped develop the funk

(17:45):
sound of the seventies and was a major influence on
West Coast hip hop of the nineties.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Oh, I cannot wait for this one to come out.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
I said next to George Clinton on a plane once,
very long flight, interesting scent on that flight, very interesting scent,
but a very nice guy.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Here and here is why so many artists try to
write new Christmas music each year. A new classic could
set you up for life. For instance, Mariah Carey makes
about two point six million a year for all I
Want for Christmas is You. It's made sixty million in
royalties over the past thirty years. I can't believe it's
been around thirty years.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
That's why songs, man, Yeah, well, no wonder.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
Everybody's coming out of Christmas music, and you know what,
just as popular as ever.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
All Mario Lopez digging into the buzz because the Queen
of Christmas has renounced her title.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
On with Mario Hollywood Buzz.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
So I think pretty much everyone would agree that Mariah
Carey has been the Queen of Christmas for the last
few decades. In fact, this year marks thirty years, believe
it or not, since she released her huge hit All
I Want for Christmas Is You, which just recently hit
number one again.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
It pretty much does every year every December.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
It's number one for thirty years in a row. I
don't know if another song has ever done that.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
I think White Christmas kind of goes up there.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
Yes, you're right.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
She said she almost missed out on the title of
Queen of Christmas because she was hesitant to do a
holiday album so early in her career, but obviously she
did it and it worked out. She also says she
never called herself the Queen and actually renounced the title,
saying that Mother Mary is the only Queen of Christmas.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
