Speaker 1 (00:00):
On On with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Mike's are not Live. Mario Lopez here back of the
mix for Halloween. You know, if you're keeping all the
ghosts and goblins at bay, we got a fun show
in store for you. My guest is actor Liam Neeson,
whose new movie is called Absolution. We're also going to
learn a new life act in Courtney's corner. This is
all about reusing your pumpkins after today, so that'll come
in handy. But up next, we're going to celebrate Throwback

(00:24):
Thursday with a look back at nineteen ninety. You're on,
Mario Lopez, You're on Mario Courtney Lopez. Let's take a
look at what's on TV today.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Amazon has Megan the Stallion in her own words, it's
a doc about the superstar.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
We just talked the other day how every popstar or
rap star in this case seems to have their own doc.
Good for her.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
And Netflix has season two of The Diplomat. Carrie Russell
knows the British Prime Minister is responsible for season one's attack,
but now she must prove it.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I heard this is a really good chow.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
It was.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
She's really been on a roll with the shows. I
mean she went from Felicity to the Americans.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Marriage, by the way, is one of the greatest shows
I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
That's a bold statement.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
That statement, it's the first part. It takes you a
little bit to get through the first time. No, I'm
sure it's great, man, it is so good. My point
is she's gone from a great show to great show.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
So good for her. Carry Russell, she knows how to
pick him.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
They've also got murder mindfully, so be mindful when you murder.
When a lawyer attends a mindfulness retreat, he unexpectedly becomes
a murderer and mastermind for the mob.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Wait a minute, how do you unexpectedly become a murderer? Ooh, sorry,
I killed you? How does that happen? Mario Lopez? The
Halloween fun fact for you. We have the Irish to
thank for the tradition of jack o' lanterns. According to mythology,
an irishman named Stingy Jack once tricked the devil. His
punishment was to roam the earth carrying a lantern, hence

(01:49):
Jack of the Lantern. That's interesting they got punished for
tricking the devil.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Here walk around with this light.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yes, coming up next? A live fact that will help
you reuse your hallow pumpkins after today. But first you
am Corney Lopez t on to learn a new live hack.
What is the topic today in Corney's corner?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Pumpkins?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Oh, we just did some carving the other day. Yet
we I was there in spirit with.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
The You were breathing the air around the corpumpkin as well.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Well, if you used to decorate them for Halloween, don't
just throw them out just yet. You can reuse them.
Fill them with bird seed and turn them into a
bird feeder. You can hang them from a tree or
just leave it out. You can cut them into fourths
and place the pieces in your yard. They will make
great snacks for squirrels, rabbits and possums. Or you can
donate to a zoo or a farm. There are organizations

(02:42):
like Pumpkins for Pigs that list places where you can
gift your pumpkins.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
That's a good idea. I'm not trying to have possums
around the house, but if you do have rabbits or
pigs for whatever reason, a pig will eat anything.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, I'm more of a donate to the zoo or
the farm type.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
There go more Mario Lopez coming up, Mario Lopez here,
and if you're looking for a spooky soundtrack for tonight,
it open the free I Heart radio app. We got
a commercial free station called Halloween Radio. It's full of hits, throwbacks,

all there on your radio. A Mario Lopez here in
today's guest will be zooming in any moment. Now. It's
Oscar winning actor Liam Nice and his newest movie is
called Absolution, maybe one of his last action movies ever.
We're going to find out all about it after a
few more songs. Febril Mario Lopez running down on Zoom

(03:40):
from the new movie Absolution, Oscar nominated actor Liam Nee
and welcome back. How have you been Liam?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Good?

Speaker 5 (03:46):
Mario good? I Yes, I've been busy, thankfully, Yes, sir,
and I haven't been found out yet apparently so well.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Good for you. Always appreciate you taking the time. Congratulations
on the new film. Tell me about Absolution. What's it about?

Speaker 1 (04:06):
What?

Speaker 5 (04:06):
It's absolutely well, it's about a character who is a
thug and has been a professional thug for many years.
He's kind of stuck in the seventies, I think nineteen seventy.
He's done some nasty things in his life, and he's
with his grandson. He's trying to make some kind of restitution.

(04:29):
I think for all the horror, he is committed against humanity. Lovely,
lovely script, terrific actors Yolanda Ross, Frankie Shaw, very big Rong, Pearlman,
have you know, wonderful cast. There was a joy to

(04:49):
be with these actors up in Boston. He shot it,
which was four movies for me, but it was just
over two years ago.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Looking forward to checking it out. Absolution is out now,
got more Liam Neeson coming up?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
More, Mario Lopez coming up?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Mario Lopez here a getting back to Liam Neeson who
is on zoom with us and Liam, I like, got
a lot of your action movies have a theme about
protecting the family. Is that just coincidence or are you drawn
to those types of works?

Speaker 5 (05:18):
I guess I'm drawn. I guess I am. You know,
I was brought up Irish Catholic, working class family. We
were you know, we were we were a strong family.
In it. I have to say we were especially growing
up and you know when it was known as the
Troubles in the North Vioreland from nineteen sixty nine up

(05:40):
to agreement being signed in nineteen ninety eight. So there
was a lot of violence in our six counties, yeah,
on the North Barlon. So we we kind of kept together.
We stuck together as a.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Family, you know, all right, Liam, hey ty, don't play
a little music. And then more with Liam Neeson catching
w Liam Neeson, this sari Al Mario Lopez and one
thing we have in common. I like boxing and I
know you used to box back in the day.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Yeah, listen, you look after yourself. You're looking good.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Power appreciate I appreciate it. When was the last time
you threw the gloves on? Or you sparred or or
how to fight?

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I had a little sparring sason with John Duddy, who's
an ex super medalweight champion from Ireland retired in the film.
We have a little sparring scene together.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
You know.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
It was funny because we showt it in like day
two and I wish, I wish we could have shot
it later on and they should. But with John sparring
I had that headgear on and we had the big
sparring gloves stuff. But John Kevin whispering to me head

(06:51):
man hitting me, because it wasn't I was, you know,
I was working, you know what you do in movies.
But John kept on hit me, hit me.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
I love it all right, gonna play a few songs.
We're gonna talk some more with Lesson, Amar Lopez, Lean
Niesen hanging out with us. A new movie is Absolution,
But also in the works, you got another movie called
Cold Storage. What can you tease us about that?

Speaker 5 (07:17):
Yes, we showed that last year. Oh my gosh. Well,
it's about a pathogen that has been sent up into
space by NASA as an experiment. Types of germs and stuff,

(07:39):
but some of it falls back to the desert of Australia.
It has altered, let's put it that way, hopefully really
really entertaining.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Ice Road too is in the rising. So you're getting
back in the big rig for that one I have done.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
Yeah, we showed that now Burn earlier this year. It's
supposed to be set in Nepal.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Oh wow.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
And indeed the second unit we went there for the
last week and a half the shoot. You know, amazing, scenery,
amazing and it's a good sequel, totally unpredictable sequel to
the first Ice.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Gotcha all right, Liam Hank time for me. We're gonna
take quick break and then come back to wrap it
up with Liam Nees.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
More Mario Lopez coming.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Up rapping it w Liam Neese and you're all Mario Lopez.
Last question, sir, have you started shooting Naked Gun yet?

Speaker 5 (08:40):

Schaeffer writer director x SML world terrific director, working with
a wonderful Pamela Anderson, Danny Houston, Old Walter Hauser who
plays my sidekke a great.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I love it be so funny, that's crazy.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
It's great. It's just great. So we had a few
giggles and hopefully the audience will too when the film
comes out next July August.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Oh, I can't wait to see that. That's gonna be great,
just visually. I'm just picturing you guys to get that was.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Such a fan of the original.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
That is awesome. Congratulations on everything. And when you see it,
I'm gonna totally loud. I'm gonna totally laugh. It'll be
belly aches from the last.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
I was gonna ask you if he could threaten you,
but I think you just did.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Meanwhile, prior to that, Absolution is in theaters right now,
so be sure to check that out. Liam, Thanks for

Lopez tme for pop quiz in honor of Halloween. Today's
theme is the horror classic fever Lin. Why are you laughing?
Hold as I it's a horror classic.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
It's a comedy horror class.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
I don't want to play. I don't want to play
with you, guys. Let's put our hands on the buzzers.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Al right, hands on buzzers. One point. This nineteen ninety
seven horror flick stars one of the two Corries and
someone in the studio.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Mario Mario Lopez.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
No, what is the name of the movie?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (10:46):
I got confused with the question because you said someone
in the studio. So that's why I was confusing.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
All right, Well, you get a point because you got
both this point, you got.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
It all right. Next, Wasn't it confusing?

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Though? I thought I should have phrased that differently. Right,
that's fine, you get a point. Someone guests nine homily.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I wouldn't take his side.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
But here we go. In fever Lake, a group of
teenagers drive to Fever Lake to spend a weekend in
a blank despite warnings from locals. That's Courtney, a campground, incorrect,
A cabin close enough, a cursed house. Okay, your Curst house.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
There we go.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Is it close enough?

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yes, it is a cabin. Is a house? Isn't it cabin?

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Did you cur Did you sit through this movie to
write these questions?

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yes, cold as ice?

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Exactly. Here we go, hands some buzzers. The boys and
girls took separate cars to Fever Lake. Who drove the boys? Mario,
Mario Lopez, that is correct, So it is three to zero.
We'll take a break, come back and do some more.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
By the way, totally guess that.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
More, Mario Lopez, coming up, Mario Corney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Here we've been facing off in a pop quiz about
my scary movie from nineteen ninety seven, fever Lake, scary
being the questionable word. Score is three to zero. I'm winning.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
You were also in this movie. And there's one question.
This one's multiple choice. The original title of fever Lake
was which of the following Lake of Fire, Lake, Wolf Spirit,
Demon Kid, Scarlet Lake recording Scarlet Lake incorrect.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
I hope it's demon Kid.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Demon Kid is correct.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Wow, why didn't we go with d Now? That would
be good. I had no idea, but demon Kid is cool.
We should have went with demon Kid.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Do you remember the backstory of this movie?

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Do you remember the plot for anything?

Speaker 4 (12:36):
I'll tell you one day. It's hilarious. I don't think
it was meant to be. All right. It is four
to zero. We'll play some music, come back and to another.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Mario Lopez your final round on Today's Pop Quiz. It's
about my horror movie. Fever Lake. Scores four to zero.
I'm in the lead.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
You are in the lead. This one is closest without
going over. So a DVD of fever Lake goes for
how much currently on Amazon?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Courtney incorrect?

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Incorrect? Courtney gets it because twenty three seventy two is
the current price for a DVD of fever Lake.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Wow, I thought it'd be like under five bucks.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
All right, here we go.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
That is pretty good.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Next question, so it's for yeah, four to one. The
sheriff in Feverlake was played by the late Bo Hopkins,
whose breakout role was in the film American Graffiti. His
last movie was a biopic about a current senator directed
by Ron Howard. What is the name of that film? Hint,
old one, I'm going to get right that senator is

(13:37):
a current VP candidate.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
What he'll billy elogy?

Speaker 4 (13:41):
That is correct? Is correct?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
That's right? Next guy advances the senator.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Thanks for the hint.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Next one, really quick, what is the Rotten Tomatoes popcorn
meter percentage for fever Lake? Right now, Mario, this is
closest without going over two ten twenty two?

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Oh better than I thought.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
So now it is five to two.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
And last question, This one's worth nineteen hundred and ninety
seven points because that's here the movie came out. How
does Mario's character die in fever Lake?

Speaker 2 (14:21):
I die, Courtney, he gets a fever.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
I have no idea because I didn't get that far.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
So do I die? I don't know I die.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
I tried to figure out if you died. I think
you might be the one who lived.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Morrol Courtney Lopez haz got some Halloween birthdays to celebrate,
fun day to be born. We haven't try to guess
the ages quickly. Who we got.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
We celebrated the song earlier in the throwback break the
no Ice.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
He is fifty five.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Fifty seven, fifty seven is cracked a deuce bigelow from
SNL Rob Schneider.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Grabs Schneider right. A Mexican girl too. He is fifty nine.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
His daughter's a singer, right, yes, oh King, but she
hates him. Yes, you said fifty nine, Yes, sixty.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Two fifty nine is correct.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Two for two. Director of Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson.
He also did Kong Skull Island, which we all saw
together in a theater.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
We liked it, right, I.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Think so Mario was really into it. Wow.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Sixty five.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I can't tell with him because it's harder to be heard.
And the whole thing I'm gonna say, he's hitting the
sixth level.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Sixty sixty three more Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Mario and Courtney Lopez here, and it's not just Halloween.
What other holiday are we celebrating today?

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Honey?

Speaker 3 (15:45):
It is National Magic Day. We've got magic to.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Do, which seems appropriate on Halloween. So you thought that
song by the way, and I thought, we can do magic.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
That's a great song, right, I immediately went to a musical.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
HM. Mario Lopez here with a quick Halloween fun fact.
If you're the type of person who pretends you're not
home when the trigger treaters show up, first of all,
you suck. Second, you're not alone. About one in five
adults keep the porch lights off, in the blinds closed.
Most of the people will hide, say they just don't

(16:21):
want to open the door fifty times throughout the night.
Come on, it's once a year. These poor kids. I
used to get so mad in my old neighborhood. They
used to egg the houses. That was tough. You're all
Mario Courtney Lopez. Let's put on our thinking caps. It
is time for Courtney's random question.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
She got, honey, all right, what were your all time
best and worst Halloween costumes? Your whole life?

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Thinking back as a kid, you know, my memory is bad.
I can't remember a solid one that I can look
back and say, oh, that was cool. I don't think
I have too many pictures of that time either. Fad
more with Halloween as an adult, I'm really happy about
our family Halloweens. Those have been so much fun throughout
the years. We were Copra Kai, we were a Western family.

(17:09):
We did a seventy theme on the show Access Daily.
That was a lot of fun. Mariachis the Mariiachis with
the boys, so yeah, those are obsos. My favorite I
was smoking the band at bur Reynalds. That was a
lot of fun. When we had big Elvis and little Elvis.
That was fun too. You're al mar Lopez. I'm not

(17:30):
for one last thing. Halloween has become big business. It's
now the second biggest spending holiday of the year. This year,
we're going to spend more than eleven point six billion
dollars on the holiday, three point eight billion on costumes,
another three point eight billion on decorations, three point five
billion on candy, and five hundred million on greeting cards.

(17:52):
I don't get too many Halloween cards.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Now, they've ever gotten a Halloween greeting card.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
That's pretty interesting right there. Spending is almost up sixty
percent from a decade ago. Obviously Christmas is number one,
but yeah, Halloween strong second.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
All right, I'm out here. Hope your Halloween is full
of treats. I will be back tomorrow with Klay Aiken. Well,
it's your first look at everything new coming to theaters
and streaming. Until then, Mario Lopez saying good night.
