Speaker 2 (00:09):
Please tweet it our way at On with Mario and
hang ti because comic matt Rie is joining us later
to talk Netflix is a joke festival.

it up, y'all the scientist, I'll steal on with Mario.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Corneyez A Mario Courtney Lopez squeezing the Little Oscars follow up.
Of course, we talked winters yesterday, but I didn't get
a chance to tell you about all my fun on
the red carpet. And you know, to be quite honest,
I always kind of dread going to these.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
It's the last one. I'm like, oh, but.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
This, But then I get there and I have a
good time. Yeah, I get there and I had a
good time. Now granted I show it up with a
full bottle of my Gosa Mahigo tequila.

Speaker 5 (00:52):
So you're allowed to drink on the job.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well, no, but I show up anyway, I show up
later than I'm supposed to.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
You do along camera, so you're not hiding.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
I do it right on camera. I had a flask
and a bottle. The rock even grabbed my flask took
a big old swig and he really liked it, which
was a nice little endorsement there. And it got started
a little bit later because the show started earlier, and
I think people with the time difference, maybe we're running
a little late. Also, we had some protesters out there

(01:20):
that were kind of holding things up. But more and
more these celebrities are just kind of I don't know,
if it's towards the end of the season and they've
already felt they've had to say all they need to say,
and they're just kind of doing pictures.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It's only a few.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
They're over right, that's a good way to put it.
It's sort of senioritis. But guess what, I'm not mad
at that. All the other hosts of their shows were
saying we should kind of boycott and just do a segment.
I'm like, chill, it's off, let's work for you exactly exactly,
and they did. They had some of my tequila, but
it was.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
A lot of fun and I went out of my
fashion comfort zone. I was rocking velvet. Honey, what'd you
think of that look?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
I thought it was very sophisticated, very handsome.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
You like that.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
But nobody really went out with their comfort zone more
than John Cena. Wo oh my gosh, Well maybe he
is comfort comfortable naked.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Like he looked like an action figure when you take
off all the clothes right there.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
That was funny.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
And by the way, Jimmy Kimbill gave me another shout
out in his opening monologue, like right off the top
when everyone's paying attention and.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
This is a third year of the road, was giving
me a shout out.

Speaker 6 (02:21):
So, Jimmy Kimble, you should get an honorary Oscar.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
You know what. I appreciate the love.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
So now if you're keeping track, I've gotten a shout
out on the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the Oscars. I
need the Grammy so I could be an egot.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
You need the Tony's.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Oh, I need the Grammys and the Tonys. Yeah, so
I can be an egot. We got to work on
the time.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
There's time. There is time and a lot.

Speaker 7 (02:42):
While we're out on those picket lines.

Speaker 8 (02:44):
There is the strike raised existential questions about our industry,
like if a movie premieeres at the Grove and there
are no actors there to promote it, does Mario Lopez
make us sound?

Speaker 6 (02:55):
And he got a good laugh.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
They cut away to Brandon Fraser and he was busting up,
so that was kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Almarrio dot com.

iconic rockstar on the Oscar stage.

what he was doing there.

The Rock for sure. My guy was already showing up drinking.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
He was sweaty because he's big and he was already
sweat He's a wrestler.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
So also was wearing silk, and I think you sweat
more in silk.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, he was cracking up.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
What shows it?

Speaker 2 (04:21):
And he had like this like I thought it was
just a vest, but it was a shirt and I go, yo,
does that have sleeves?

Speaker 3 (04:27):
And he thought that was the funniest thing for some reason,
I'm well, why would why would you?

Speaker 7 (04:31):
Now?

Speaker 9 (04:31):
You know?

Speaker 6 (04:31):
He made me laugh.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
But yeah, we threw some back, uh or even Longoria
threw some back. Everybody else. I don't think I wanted
to mess up their lipstick.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
Did the Rocks drink your tequila or his?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
No, No, he drunk mine, liked it.

Speaker 5 (04:45):

but quickly I want to hit today's obscure holiday, something
to celebrate every day?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
What are we celebrating today?

Speaker 4 (05:22):
I love chocolate, but I'm not down for this one.
It's a National milky Way Day. I'm not a milky
Way person.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
That's the specific candy bar. Correct yay.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
It's also the galaxy we live in.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Do we live in the Milky Way galaxy?

Speaker 6 (05:33):
We do live in the Milky Way galaxy.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Aware that how many galaxies have we got going on?

Speaker 9 (05:37):
There's billions and trillions, come on, not many, it's infinite.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
We don't know because we can't see the edge of
the universe.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Well, clearly I have a problem because my initial thought
goes to chocolate.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
I thought it was the candy bar.

Speaker 9 (05:50):
My initial thought went to the ice cream because Milky
Way candy bars are also have an ice cream version
and it's delicious.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Wight up Mario court Lopez here Fraser as well.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
It's time to shout out some celebs turning a year older?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Who's celebrating We're gona try to get the age.

Speaker 9 (06:06):
Aaron Eckhart from The Dark Knight so many movies. Apparently
he has an incredible memory. Memorized the entire script someone
was selling us recently before they even started shooting.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
A lot of people do that before they started shooting. Well,
I mean, if you said he memorized.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
It was a humble brag.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Aaron Eckhart is fifty two, fifty eight, fifty six, fifty
six Darryl Strawberry, baseball greats.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Dale Strawby right here from Carmpton, California. My guy's gotta be.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
Sixty one, sixty four, sixty two.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
James Taylor, you got a friend.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Okay, I'm glad you're saying that he now has senior
friends and they are seventy two.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Seventy six is correct?

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Oh and Liza Minelli.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
There's no business like show business.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Liza's got to be seventy six. She's seventy nine, seventy eight.

hacks at Courtney's corner.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
What you got for us today?

Speaker 4 (07:55):
We're talking habit stacking.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Huh okay.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
These are little things in you can do at the
same time like multitasking. Say you want to do a
clay mask on your face for skincare, vacuum the house
while you let that mask soak on your skin. You
do that at the same time. That is habit stacking.
If you're a college student listen to lectures or audio
books on your phone as you go for a long walk,

(08:21):
you are habit stacked.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Watch videos or shows that you like on an iPad
while washing dishes or cleaning the kitchen while your coffee
is brewing. Clean your countertops real quick. This is what
you need to do to habit stack.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
I was an unintentional I was an unintentional habit stacker.
I watch shows while I'm on the life cycle or elliptical. Yeah,
when I'm painting my wig for just for men, I'm
cleaning or packing.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
Cleaning what are you cleaning?

Speaker 4 (08:55):
I'm cleaning the I'm genuinely curious or unpacking.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
I'ma have stacker. I'm a habit. When I'm in the restaurant,
I do my memes. I read habit stacking.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
True.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Basically, this is just a fancy schmancy way of saying
do it a lot the same time.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Multitasking or Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Jo Mario Courtney Lopez is gonna get Matt Rife on
Zoom with us after the time of the hour. He's
out on his big Problematic World tour and getting ready
to headline Netflix is a joke festival, So let's talk
about Matt Rife.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
Joins usn't next, It's.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Eby all, Mario Lopez, join me now on Zoom Actor
in comic My man, Matt Rife, Welcome to show.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
How you Van, Bud, I'm great man, Good to see you,
Thanks for having me back.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Good to see you.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Thanks for taking the time, keeping up with you on
social I know you're killing it out there on the road.
Problematic World tour is going on. How have how the
show has been for you?

Speaker 7 (10:02):
They have been unreal, man. We've crossed off some real milestones.
Recently we did six shows at Radio City Music Hall. Wow, unbelievable.
I mean doing one show that would have been a
dream come trip. So that was amazing. We just did
my first arena shows. We did five shows at Mohegan
Sun Arena in Connecticut, which broke the record there. That's
awesome shows by a comedian, which at first I was

(10:22):
really flattered by, and then I realized, Oh, it's pretty obvious.
Most comics are just smart enough to not do that
many shows. No, good for you, what market?

Speaker 2 (10:29):
No, But that means the demand is there. All right, man,
hang tight for a second. A lot to talk about,
but for more music. Getting back to matt rive.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Who's on zoom with us?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Mario Lopez here talking about your problematic world tour.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Now, when you're traveling, are you a boss or how
many people you're rolling with?

Speaker 7 (10:46):
Yeah? I've got a tour, but I have two tour buses.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Dude, You're like the rolling Stones over here.

Speaker 7 (10:50):
Oh dude, it's ridiculous and not what anybody thinks. It's
just me and my boys on the bus and people
are like, oh, you guys gotta be throwing parties on that.
I bet there's just rugs, ever do It's us just
smoking weed and fast food and playing video games till
five in the morning.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Damn that sounds like a good time though, so.

Speaker 7 (11:09):
It's not bad. It's not bad.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
I bet now when you're on the road for this long, like,
what's the packing situation? Because whenever I travel, I get
like anxiety when I have to pack more than anything
that will not fit in a carry on.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
But I guess when you have a bus you can
you can kind of a little more room.

Speaker 7 (11:27):
Yeah, right, exactly, yeah, yeah, it's well, not to rub
it in their faces, but I have like the master
bedroom in the backroom bus, obviously, while while my friends
all sleep in their mausoleum walls, right, I have like
a full walk in closet.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Oh nice.

Speaker 7 (11:42):
They all share one bunk to like as their storage.
I am months worth of clothes, But I come back
here to La to pop in for press stuff so often.
I'd come back here everything I've worn. But I've like
worn in a video that's going viral, I'm like, well,
got to get rid of that. I'll come back here
and just switch it out for a whole wardrobe. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I like that move right there, all right, Matt Haintach,
take a quick break, come back more with comic Matt right.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Talking with Matt Rive about his big comedy tour.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
You or Mario Lopez and Matt I know a lot
of fans have been making you cookies and drawing pictures.
Oh yeah, you've gotten anything a little out of the ordinary.

Speaker 7 (12:20):
Somebody bought my hat off off my head on stage
of the day for one thousand dollars, and then I
tried to buy meth with it in Minneapolis. Oh but officially, yeah,
there was that forcefully retired dealer of the audience, right right,
right right.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
That's funny, man, that's funny.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
I'm gonna play a few more songs and we have
more with that, right A Mario Lopez talking stand up
comedy with Matt Rife.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
And in May, I'm moving.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Forward to this because I'm planning to be there. The
Netflix is a joke festival going down at the Hollywood
Bowl That is one of my all time favorite venues.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
It's so cool. Have you had an opportunity to perform
there with us your first time even been?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Oh it's so cool, Matt. You're gonna love it, man,
because in the summer time, it's beautiful. It's like nestled
up in the Hollywood Hills, thousands of people.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
You see the lights.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
They're smoking and drinking because you could drink, drink and
smoke out that that's like your boss. It's like your bus,
but outside and it goes. It's so much fun.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
You are gonna love it. What do you got planned
for that?

Speaker 7 (13:19):
I'm working on a musical act too that I can't
disclose as of yet, to potentially really just in the
show with a grand finale. If I can't get them,
I am gonna need you and your family to do
some TikTok dance.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
That's what's up.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Want Mario, Hey, the lout passes have your back.

Speaker 7 (13:35):
Your walk doesn't go unnoticed. I'm excited for I wanted.
I wanted to feel like like an intimate festival. It's
turned a six a sixteen thousand seat venue into an
intimate hangout. I'm gonna have a bunch of my friends
come and open the show for me. It's gonna be
a great show from start to finish. And I just
did the Dolby Theater. I think it was six shows
just a couple of months ago. And for the people

(13:56):
who may have been there for that, thank you. It
was an incredible experience dream. I'm true and it's already
a brand new show, so you don't have to worry
about coming to see the same jokes repeated.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Oh fun, oh fun, I'm looking forward to That's gonna
be cool.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Man, almar dot com to find out more, Hank Tight,
you can have more with Matt Riife coming up. You're
Mario Lopez catching up with comic Matt Rife this hour
in this fall. Uh.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
This is also really cool.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
You're gonna be performing an abu dabi now, yes, have
you done much outside of the States, Like, how are
the audiences different or how is their response to your
material outside of the US?

Speaker 7 (14:33):
Oh man, so far, the US is the least fun
to perform in.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
That's great, not just.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
The cultural differences, but like just the freedom of comedy,
Like we people in the States about comedy more than
any other country around the world.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
You're just complaining it's so ridiculous, and you're right out.
It must be refreshing to get out of these states
and to be able to just people don't have to
take a joke and they take it for what it is.

Speaker 7 (15:02):
Oh yeah, I was just in Australia at the beginning
of this year. For January. We were there for two
and a half weeks. It was three weeks maybe the
show's out. There was my first time being that I'd
always heard in the comedy community that Australia had like
the best comedy audiences in the world, which that's a
pretty high title to give. Yeah. I got down there
and I was like, dog, I wish I would have
waited to shoot my next special there. It was unbelievable, Like,

(15:24):
nobody feels that they have to make the show about themselves.
No one's getting offended by anything. Everyone is just there.
They're they're in with the joke, they're on board, they're
aware of the context and the environment, and.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
They have a sense of humor.

Speaker 7 (15:36):
Oh yeah, the UK was fantastic, Like the English crowds
are amazing, even Ireland. I've got a whole European tour
we're doing from September through November, including that the Abu
Dhabi one, which I'm really looking forward to because that's
the same arena they're doing UFC in the night right
before one.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Oh so you're gonna get catch a fight?

Speaker 7 (15:55):
Yeah, I think you should come out personally.

Speaker 6 (15:57):
Hey, that's what I would say.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
To hit it up there. He's a big fan of
yours by the way too.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Oh, I know that's the homie. That's the homie.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
That's cool.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
I'm really looking forward to now. I know the lulls
and cultures are much more different out there, so I
will be interested to see what I can and can't
stay out there.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Well, Matt hank tig one last break, and I'm going
to come back and wrap it up with Mat.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Right.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
You're the full.

Lopez on the way.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Rapping up with comic man Rye.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Mario Lopez here, and I read I don't know if
this is true. You're into sports cars or sport cards?

Speaker 7 (16:30):
Part of me what you're talking about. That's so crazy
that you even heard about this. Yeah, when I was
growing up, I loved sports card. I still have like
tens of thousands of them.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Do you did you get that Lebron rookie card recently?

Speaker 7 (16:42):
I did When I was at Mohegan Sun for the
Arena shows. They had an expo going on up there,
and I was like, I haven't dabbled in cards in
probably more than a decade, and I got up there.
They had some amazing things I got. I got a
Mickey Mantle rookie card. I got a Lebron rookie card.
I got a Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson autographed card.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Sweet and oh.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
God, there was one other one I got well blanking
on it right now, but yeah, came up.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Dude.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
It was amazing.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Up right now on with Mario dot Com.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Almar Courtney Lopez, quickly squeezing in one last thing. I
wanted to mention this because we saw it a while back. Now,
you know, the Lopezes loved to watch themselves a documentary
and we saw oxygens Selena and Yolanda about Selena, the
infamous pop star who was tragically murdered at the age

(19:53):
of twenty three, so young, and Yolanda Saldivar who killed her.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
It was a two part dot.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
I can't believe Yolanda agreed to do this and her
family because basically, and I'm not trying to give.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Anything, she's coming up on parole. She's coming up on
which is why she wanted to talk.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Actually, right, honey, she's coming up on parole, and she's
trying to paint a very different picture, saying, not everything
you saw is what it seems. Selena was having an affair.
She was holding all her secrets, and her father was
very controlling and threatening her. They were slashing her tires,
so she had a gun to protect herself. And when
Selena went to go beg her to not quit, she

(20:32):
accidentally shot her. As Selena was walking, she was walking
out the door and her back was heard and as a.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Witness heard her call her the B word. Mind you
she said.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
And so I'm thinking to myself, I'm like, did she
think this was going to help her in any case?

Speaker 3 (20:50):
It made me just like hate her more to be
quite honest, that she finds us that ignorant.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
Well, yeah, no, she's trying to play all of you
so she can get.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Out right right.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
And I also, well, I also think too, she's fearful
of getting out.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Because correct repercussions.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
Repercussions, and so she's trying to paint this kind of
picture to stay like please don't basically saying please don't hurt.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
Me because of the head of her fan club might
kill her exactly.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Wow, the whole thing was just bizarre.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 6 (21:22):
