Speaker 1 (00:00):
On with Mario Lopez's Up with Mario Lopez joining right
now on Zoom, businesswoman and star of the Real Housewives
of Beverly Hills, and now the new show on Brand
with Jimmy Fallon, Bosama, Saint John.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
How you doing, Bozema, Hey, you're so good.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
It's a big day, Mario, big big day.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
It is a big day. Congratulations on everything. You are
firing up on all cylinders right now. You've got a
new show called On Brand just premiered on NBC. People
have been describing it sort of like Shark Tank meets
The Apprentice with marketing. What is your role in the
series and how would you describe it?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
So here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Jimmy Fallon had this idea a few years ago, pitched
it to NBC. They passed on it, and then brought
it back when they said, you know what, you kind
of need a marketer who can legitimize the show. And
so his wife was watching The Real Housewives of Beverly
Hills and saw me and was like, have you thought
about bos And of course Jimmy is like, the Housewives
(00:59):
are not the kind of speed I was looking for,
you know what I mean? But he watched the season.
He then called me. We met up, We had a
great time. And really my job on the show, as
he would say, is to legitimize it, you know, put
my twenty five years of marketing in the C suite
to work to help to mentor all of the contestants
(01:22):
and the creatives who are on the show and give
some you know.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Some real meat to what we're talking about. So it's
really good. I love great time because.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
These are the kind of shows too, like you can
watch with the family, you learn something, it's inspiring. And
are the contestants people who specialize in marketing already or
they're just every day people would little experience.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Except everyday people. There's a state agent, there's a swim instructor.
Speaker 5 (01:46):
There is one marketing professor though, so you're gonna have
to watch and see how he does.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
But you know, these are folks who it's so funny.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
It feels like it mimics my real life because all
the years that I was in marketing, whether it was
it Apple or Netflix or Uber or Pepsi anywhere, people
would always be like, oh, boss, I have an idea
for whatever company it was on. You know, they had
a new drink idea for PEPSI. They want to pitch
me in film. When I was at Netflix, they wanted
to tell me how to make the rides faster. At
(02:14):
Uber Like, people always had ideas. So this is like
the perfect show to allow for people at home to watch,
you know, hear from the brands erectly like what are
they looking for? And then see the creatives pitch their
creative ideas.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
And these are people just like you, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
Great, So then you can also engage and you can
also like think about ideas because everybody always thinks they
have the perfect marketing idea.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Yeah, I'm like, go for it.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Then yeah, hey that's inspiring. No, that is great. And
Jimmy's a great guy. Has been working with him.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
He's so great. He's so great. You know Jimmy, First
of all, how do I even say this?
Speaker 5 (02:49):
He loved every single idea, and I would have to
be like, Jimmy, that's a terrible idea.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I'd be like, no, that's not going to work.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
I mean even on the Party Versus episode, the brand
that we worked with, the Dunkin Donuts, right, and one
of the contestants named Sabrina wonderful woman.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Uh from uh I believe Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
She's a real estate agent and she came up with
an idea for their new like breakfast combo and she
called it the Munchbox.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I kind of like that.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
I'm not gonna lie no, no, no, Mario, no, we
don't like no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I'm buying the lunch box. I'll tell you right now,
I'm buying the munch box.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
You know what, exactly to a certain demographic.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
And but we had to, you know, I was like, hey, mature,
let's stick to the brief.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
You know that's right.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
When Duncan asked us to give them, Jimmy could not
stop laughing, like he was.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Totally un serious with this whole idea. But it was.
It was very funny, very funny moments. That's hilarious.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
That's oh, I bet it's a lot of fun. That's
fun with.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
A that's cool. We had a good time.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Now we did all right with all this you got
going on?
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Are you going to be back for another season of
Real Housewives Beverly Hills when they start production?
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Do you do you want me back on the show?
Because I know you watched you want me back.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
I'll be honest, because my wife's an avid watch or
she's a big fan of yours too. But I kind
of like, you know, in passing, be catching a lot
of it. You don't get caught up in all the drama.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
You know, just in passing while he's sitting on the
couch with her for an hour. Yeah, right, exactly, exactly, Yes, Yes,
I am back.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I am back. I'm excited about it.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
It's so funny because at the last reunion, Andy was like, bo, so,
how was your first season?
Speaker 3 (04:25):
And I was like, it was fantastic.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
I had a great time, you know, And Kyle Richards
is like looking at me, like, what are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Like who nobody says they had a great time on
this show.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
I don't understand what the problem is, you know. So
came back for another season, and I still feel good.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Good for you. Yeah, because because you like a tier
above and see you know how to navigate all that.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
It's perfect, perfect Mario.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Let me tell you something, after years in the boardroom,
there's nothing any of these women could say or do
it's going to rock me exactly.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
You ain't gonna get thrown exactly. And I just saw
you announce your engage. Congratulations, thank you.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Oh I'm trying. I'm trying O married life like you Mario.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, do you know what?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
I just think it gets better. It's a compliment right there.
And were you surprised? Did you know what was coming?
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Or how do you popped the question?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, here's the thing. We had talked about it and I.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Knew that, you know, we both want to get married,
but I didn't know when he would propose or how
he would do it, and so I was very much
surprised when he asked, and it was beautiful. You know,
I have pretty high expectations of all all things, and
he met my expectations and in terms of like how
he asked, and you know how he even acquired the ring.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
He went all the way to Movebay to India. Wow
at my ring?
Speaker 5 (05:42):
Yes, yes, because I have a special affinity for jewelry
from India and so he went all the way.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Dang, that's that's impressive. That's impressive.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
I like him already because you need a certain man,
a confident man, to uh to be with a woman
who is successful her own thing going on, and you
know what I.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Mean exactly, and it's not intimidated by it.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
And it's not what I'm saying. I don't even know him,
but I already like him.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
One thing I want to talk about, because I know
what's a priority to you, aside from all the businesses
you run, is is our health.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Because without our health, nothing else really matters.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I always say, you should make that your number one priority,
and then everything else can you can kind of spring
board off of that. You and I are both working
with a great company called own Health. Yeah, I'm excited
about next step, Sarah. What what made you want to
get involved?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Oh my gosh, Well you're right.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
So here's the thing. And this is like the secret, right,
which is that I was. I mean, I've been pretty
fit my whole life. I ran track as a young
adult and in college and whatnot. But I would say,
for a good like let's call it twenty years, I
didn't work out like I you know, kind of just
like left it be whatever it was.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
I hit my forties and my body was like, girl.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Look this is not the way to do it, you
know what I mean, And so I had to get
serious about it.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
So I got myself a trainer.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
I like work out six days a week, and I've
been doing that for a good solid seven years.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
True. Now the other challenge.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Is that you know, you can't just work out, You've
also got to have you know, great nutrition and all
of that. Now, the real, like next level is understanding
what's actually going on in your body, not just that
you're eating salads and like eating lean meats and working
out and doing your cardio, but like what is happening
inside of your body, and so hone Health has really
been a game changer, you know, because they do biomarkers.
(07:32):
It's like you really get into like what's happening inside
of your body. And that's why I really want to
work with them. So I've been enjoying it very much.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
I agree. And the same thing.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
It's funny, Bozmok because when I got into my first
forties and now I'm on my fifties.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Here's fifties. It's like, girls stop.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Yeah, I was like at fifty fifteen in the room
with us, cause I.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Don't you're about to be fifty two next week.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
But you know, you get older and in my my
health has always been a priority, but you're right to
even be more educated and find out what's going on.
It gives you such a confidence and you can kind
of really take your health to the next level. So yeah,
shout out to hone Health our buddy sad over there,
and I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, I'm glad to
hear you're involved right there. Well, congratulations on everything. I
know your buddies with my girl Kerrie Champion, by the way,
(08:16):
I love you.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Oh that's my homegirl. You know, that's the bestie.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
She's a homiees.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
So yeah, please send her my love if you If
you see her right there, I bet you two are
trouble together.
