and fans of you as well. I love that you
busted out a little MJ in your first performance. How
you feeling after a first one?

Speaker 4 (00:28):
You know, I mean, I feel pretty good. Actually, I
was expecting to be sorah. I was expecting to be
a little beat up, you know, all that kind of stuff.
But physically I feel great. Emotionally it was a little
rough getting a little score.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Knock, gonna live, but you know right, we're.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Gonna we're gonna take it home this week. We're gonna
make it sorry my phone chargeous.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Anyway. Uh yeah, we're gonna we're gonna make it great.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
It's gonna be uh, it's gonna be something special for
next episode. And that's all I'm thinking about right now,
because it's fire.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Like last week we had to do the proper you know,
show that I could do frame and all that kind
of stuff, which I think just people weren't expecting it.
I think it probably few people by surprise, but you
know that's that's the name of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
People were like, you look a little stiff. I'm like, well, yeah,
I'm supposed to. But you know, next next episode we
got a whole different ball wax because we're going to
be doing a little chot shot, so.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
You get to spice it up a bit.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
You get to spice it up.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Is it true, Jenna, is it true that Corey went
MI I a for a while when because I saw
a headlights saying you hadn't seen him since it was announced.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
I know, I love Everyone was like he's missing. Like
we were very aware, we were in communication.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
It was just a scheduling thing that you know, Corey
brought to the attention and like I knew about it.
So I'm not sure where the story of Corey was
missing came from.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
He's a working guy. He had stuff to do. But no,
I love that we got back into the studio and
he was like hungry. He's like, we got to catch up.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
And so we worked so hard for the premiere and
then even yesterday was our first rehearsal back for this.

Speaker 6 (02:09):
This upcoming week, we two and he was on fire.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
So I am very excited for this upcoming week stance.

Speaker 6 (02:17):
It's going to be fun.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
You did the tango. Now, you got the cha cha.
A lot of Latin going on right there, in course.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Well, we know, you know we love our latinos.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I'm glad you do, Corey. I'm glad you do.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
We got to spice it up. We got to keep
it spicy. That's the way it works. Especially you know,
you got to have a little sauce of a little
chat cha, yeah, and all that good stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Get the hips going there now. You also you also
mentioned you had some injuries that you're dealing with. What
kind of things are you? Are you fighting?

Speaker 4 (02:53):
I mean, actually, there's a lot more than we talked
about on the show that you know. On the show,
we just talked about the schooliosis, but I don't I'm glad.
I'm glad they didn't really go into all of it
because I didn't want like a sympathy boat. But yeah,
I've got two tor meniscus in my knees, which I
had to deal with for my last tour, so basically
two tours ago.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
When I did riot Fest.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
During that tour, I had torn both my meniscus and
as a result of it, I ended up actually having
to get like fluid drained out of my kneecap in
the middle of that tour, I had to it swoll
up like a grapefruit. I had to get like steroid injections.
And then as soon as that tour ended, we got

(03:35):
offered the Limbiscuit tour and I was like, oh my god,
how am I going to do this? So I ended
up doing PRP injections and that was a lifesaver. I
mean that really got me back on my feet. That's
what got me dancing again. Thank God for that. I
also have four slip discs in my lower back, two
in my neck, So yeah, I've been through the ringer
Corey a little bit.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Do you play like full contact rugby on the side
or what where?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Where are these injuries coming from a brief career?

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Well, well, you gotta realize I've been doing this for
fifty years, so dancing for what forty years maybe thirty
eight years professionally at this point doing my own stunt
since I was a little kid.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
I mean, think about it this way.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
When I was twelve years old, I had a safety
harness fastened to my belt strap and then on a
little cable.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And I had my self backward. Who know, well, their fault,
that's saying.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Is just one of the many examples of, you know,
the trials and tribulation my body's been put through. Not
to mention the fact that I was abused as a kid,
they probably did a little bit.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Of damage there.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Not to mention I've had skiing accidents and like stuff
normal people go through. So it's just a culmination of
a lot of things that you know, wear and tear.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
How are the knees holding up during rehearsals right now?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
I'm doing great. I feel great, I really do.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
I love Jenna's big smile.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Jack's been busting up you with me so entertained Jedda
during this whole thing.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Can you do me a favor, Jenna?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Can you somehow incorporate a Michael Jackson move in every dance?

Speaker 4 (05:07):
You know?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I mean, here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I mean, Jenna can speak to this, But I don't
think do anything every time. I think it's got to
be original, the original, and I think that you know,
it's fun to have a little winking or not here
and there.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
But yeah, just the weekn or not. That's all I
need is a week and or not giving.

Speaker 6 (05:23):
Mario, we're giving you. We're giving you a wink and
anod this week.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
So it might be on the ground, So make sure
that you keep your eyes open, all right.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Hies will be left open right there. And who have
who have you guys? Have you guys like been chummy
with anyone? Who on the cast have you kind of
like hit it off with?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
And who do you hate? Everybody?

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Oh, there's no hate, no hate at all, Jenner. Let
you speak because these people up londer than I have.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
So you.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Give fifteen leagues, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Not No, this cast is a really, really incredible obviously,
you know every year it was like a family, but
this one's pretty pretty epic.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
Obviously.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
You know, my husband's partnered with Alex Earl and it's
been so fun getting to know her. She is an
absolute gem and she is so talented on the dance floor.
So I'm excited to see their journey. And then honestly,
you know who like has my heart is Elaine Hendrix
is just you know when you like have a hero
that you meet.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
In person and they're even better in person. She is that,
so I'm obsessed with her.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Oh that's great.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
We'll listen to you guys again.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
And on my side. On my side, let me brag, pravll.
I love everybody there.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
I mean, and I'm not joking like this is such
a cast. We've had a couple get We've had a
couple bits of time together, Mario, and let me tell you,
everybody there is like super cool and I everybody there
is not one still participant that I got a bad
vibe from one.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Oh that's cool, man. Well they should all love you
because you're lovable, so I hope they do.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Listen, Well, I love them, so we all. It's a
big love of this.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
It's going to be sad to see anybody go home
next week, especially if it's me.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
That's true, that's true, but listen. I want everyone to
be sure that to check out the show new episodes
of Dancing or Tuesday Night's eight pm and go vote
for my boy Corey and his partner Jenna Johnson. You guys,
good luck, look forward to seeing y'all. Hopefully we'll see you.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Can I say one important thing?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yes, please do.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Actually two important things, too important. One one is dancing news.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
The other is personal news.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
But dancing news is this that if you're voting for
us and you're on the West Coast, you're gonna have
to actually vote in the blind because you guys don't
see the show when the voting has already closed.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
So basically, because we go.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Live at five, that means at eight pm East Coast time,
they're watching the show, which means on the West Coast,
the voting is from five to seven, not from eight
to ten, because by a to ten the show is over.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
We're done.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
We're at home. So if you want to vote for
us and you're on the West Coast, you've got to
do it at five o'clock, between five and seven pm
West Coast time.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
That's important. The other thing that's important is that I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
If you know, but I have two singles out right
now and a brand new EP coming in four days.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
So on Monday it's twenty seven again.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I'm my brand new EP, Evolutions twenty two for four
and it's going to be incredible.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Hey, you may have to come back and do it.
Give us a little like acoustic performance or a little
performance out here.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
We'll blow it up.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
CoA.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
You let me know.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
I don't want to take you away from Jenna, but
you let me know when you can do it.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
After you Yes, after it.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Fo Yeah, okay, because I was gonna say, I get
at least an hour off every day.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, we don't want to take you away. We'll do it.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Hey man, good luck and thank you for your time,
both of you.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
Thank you so much, so much.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Thank you.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
