Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fun with Mario lititz'sbra Mario Lopez joining on Zoom. The
author of the new book only say good things. Chrystial Heffner,
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
How are you. Thanks for having me. I'm doing pretty well.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Nice well, Thanks for taking the time. Congrats on the
new book. What inspired you to write this now?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
I think I after leaving the mansion, I was in
therapy for about five years, and it helped me realize
that I should put this story out and not let
someone else continue controlling the narrative.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I bet it was therapeutic. What was the most difficult
thing about going back and reliving some of those memories?

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I think the hardest chapters were talking about sex and death.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
For sure, those are fascinating chapters. I bet did writing
the book help you heal or see the past sort
of differently?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, I definitely. I think it was. It was healing
and it helped me a lot. And I think in
the recent past we have terms now that we didn't
necessarily have back then, so it's been very healing and helpful.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Do the girls that lived in the mansions still keep
in touch or did those relationships sort of fade over time?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I'm hoping that we can all be friends. You know,
we've had our ups and downs, but we were a
part of this place that almost seems like it was
some social experiment in time. So I hope that we
could all be friends and get along.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
And how have your views changed on like love and
relationships and with men since you've left the mansion.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I think I'm very sensitive to certain types of people,
so I just try and with dating, I just make
sure it's a happy, healthy relationship.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Good for you. And have you been doing a book
tour or meeting with people with the signings and stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah, So the book came out on the twenty third Tuesday,
and I was in New York and that it was
a busy, busy whirlwind of press. And I'm just happy
that it's been very well received.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
What question do you get asked the most?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I don't know, maybe why I ended up there, why
I stayed, Why I'm keeping the last name, like.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
So why?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Well, I think the story why I stayed is very
complex and a lot of people it's translating well when
people read it. And then also the last name I
plan on changing back to my original note original name.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's like the last piece.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
What is your original last name?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
It's Harris, so the initial stay the same.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Oh, there you go. You also a podcast Beneath the Surface.
What do you tak talking about on there? Crystal?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:01):
So currently on the podcast, I'm going chapter by chapter
of the book, and I think people that are also
reading it to heal from their own hard relationships.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
It's a it's a good place.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
To get some extra content, maybe something additional that can
help them.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Good for you, and what would you like to get
into next after this this closure?

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I got to imagine, Yeah, yeah, the you know, when
I first came to the mansion, Playboy and half and
all of that type of life, that lifestyle meant was
meant to be a place of freedom, or that's what
they advertise it as, Like freedom.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
I felt anything but that. I felt completely trapped.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
So now like I'm actually free and enjoying my life,
and that's what I'm going to continue to do. I
have a farm in Hawaii, and I just like the
simple things.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Good for you? Good for you?

Speaker 2 (03:53):

Speaker 1 (04:07):
You went to Hilltop Elementary. Where'd you live in Vista?

Speaker 3 (04:11):
So my parents came from England when I was young,
and we ended up moving to Imperial Beach.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, I'd be of course, okay, and.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
People would wash up from like trying to cross over,
like swimming and stuff like that. And so I had
I had seen like people that had died like so sad,
like on the beach and stuff, and and so my
parents were like, okay, we need to move away from
my bee and we moved up to Chula Vista.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
That's where I went to Hilltop Elementary.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Then my dad unfortunately passed away and my mom got
remarried and he lived in La Joya.

even though he was awful, that I got to go
to a really good school. Right.
