Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Libitz Zebra.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Mario Lopez joining me right now on Zoom actress Dasha Polanco.
How are you, Dasha?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Good? How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm doing well? I just like saying your name, Dasha Polanco,
what a great name.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Thank you. Do you know I'm Lopez too?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Are you a Lopez to Dasha Planca? Lopez?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
You know that us Latinos we have five names, right,
that's true. Lopez is somewhere in there.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Okay, not Mario, the only has two. That's right. I'm
the only Latino with no middle name. I really have congratulations.
He joined the Walking Dead universe in season two of
the series Walking Dead, Dead City. What's your character up
to this series?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Ooh, hello, Sergeant Too in our bias, Well, she's uh
dealing with survival and also establishing her power and kind
of dealing with the obstacles that we come across. So
we'll see what It was a very good and fun
role to portray on on the Walking Dead universe.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, I bet I heard your character was attacked by zombies.
Does that mean you can come back as a zombie
or how does that work?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
You know with the walking that you just never know
especially now with the methane being the currency. They might
use me just for the methane, or they might release
me onto the to the humans.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's it's a wide neck get casts right there. I
wanted to get to this too earlier in the year
you start in the Lifetime movie Terror comes Knocking, the
more sell up We're just family, which is actually a
true story of the family that was held for ransom. Right.
I was fascinated by this. How was it for it?
Especially when I'm sure you did the research. It was like,
my god, what a what a horror?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Well, you'll be surprised that things are really happening around
this and sometimes we're like in our own bubble. And
when I got the opportunity to portray this role and
actually watch the documentary, I was like, I don't remember
this clearly, but it does happen, and it was important
for me to respect what the family had gone through
and just to you know, it's it's it's families. You
(01:59):
would be so price how much survival and being the
lead a mother will lead you to do things to
the extreme. I mean, I think she was such a
hero in protecting her family.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, I know, your human spirit is resilient. Did you
get a chance to talk or meet meet the family
at all.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
No, Yeah, I didn't get a chance to speak to them,
And I respect it, but I wanted to be respectful
enough to portray it as as close as possible. Obviously
we do things for TV, but I got to do
my own stunts, you know, and I got to do
fun with that and just you know, I wanted to
evoke the emotion as much as I could just portray
(02:39):
the story.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, no, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
This was cool too. You're part of qbc's Christmas in
July on their new game show Rapped, and you got
to judge people's gift wrapping skills. I might be the
worst gift rapper ever. I just do the bags like
I like the bags.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
And you stick it.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Does that count as well? That's what I do. If
that forgets how this gift giving? And you put the
little the little stuff on the top, you can really
tell when there's a good good. I don't think that's wrapping.
I think that's bagging. That's bagging. But how did it work?
Did you just basically judge like how fast? How stuff?
That's cool?
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Well, I got to be a side great judges. But
you know I used to give wrap for Harold Square
and Macy's. You really had a red tale pacis. Yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Okay, you're legit.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Al right, So I was a but I'll give you
some credit for bagging. I guess these are for a
little two pieces of tape, little staples, right right, right right.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I'm a guy. I try to keep it simple. I
try to keep it simple, right there. Wrappings a whole
another deal right there. And I know you're you're an
activist as well, specifically for HIV awareness. How did that
become a passion ers?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Well, I tried to align myself to a lot of
organizations that do for the community, and you know, get
involved with so many things children but most important things
that are becoming very dormant. And I think this is
a subject that, for some reason I found very interesting
(04:07):
that we have not speaking about it, educate, educating the
community about When I got the opportunity to be part
of this panel with Soletto O'Brien, solet that O'Brien, who
I'm also on her in her other organization, I was like, absolutely,
I want to speak up on this. I think the
organization that herself does such a great job with also
providing prevention education and also how to get help, and
(04:32):
that's that goes hand in hand.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Good for you.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Well, congratulations on everything, Dasha, and listen, you can check
out Dasha right now in season two of The Walking Dead,

Comes Knocking.
