Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fun with Mario Lopez's Everyone morioal Lopez joining me now
on Zoom. Former Fifth Harmony singer Dina Jamy.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Dina's so nice to see Hey.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It's been so long. I'm just telling you that a
few seconds ago. I know.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I love seeing you.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Congratula so good. What is the what is the secret?
I appreciate it. If I swear, you just don't ate.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Oh you're the best. You're so sweet. A lot of tequila,
I like to say.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
But oh, okay, I noted. Okay.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Congrats on the new single, Ocean Song. Tell me about it.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Ocean Song I just released this past Friday, So I
don't mind my horse voice.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I just caught a really random cold because she's been
on the go.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
I'm so excited. I've been working so hard towards this project.
Ocean Song. I actually created a song back in BALI
and I had in twenty eighteen, and you know, it
first started off as a love song, and then I
transformed it into like an ancestral prayer.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
I was like, Ocean Song, there's a ring to that,
and I felt like I just kept revisiting it. There's
something special about it. I lost I don't know. You
could see my grandpa here.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, I'm dedicating this era to him and my grandma
that I had passed this Welsh I'm named after her,
so the people.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
That were really important to me.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I'm dedicating this to my ancestors and to the Pussyfica
women in our culture.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
There's a movement happening and I just want to.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Give this platform for all the specific Islanders who don't
feel as seen in the industry.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I love it, saluting your Polynesian roots. I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
And the album drops in August Forever summer. What can
you tease us about that?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
A lot of exciting things.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I mean, I think this era in my life it's
more about storytelling. I like to, you know, let people
get to know me a little bit more with my music.
So all these songs I'm releasing is something that I
wrote nice, it's fun Island girl vibe, Island vibes in general.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's been in the works for so long, but.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
You know, coming from people you know at the time
I was assigned to. Being an independent artist is so
much more freedom and I have more control, and I'm like,
this is where it gets fun because I don't really
have people like picking these ideas for me or choosing
for me. It's more so me that's pushing, like, this

(02:24):
is the records I want, This is one I believe in.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
This is what I wrote for my heart, and that's
what I want to be heard.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
So a lot of fun, exciting songs and visuals to come,
and I.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Just showing more of my soft girl era. I feel
like I've been a little rough.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
These past couple of years.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Good for you.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
And what as far as live performances, you're planning on
doing any touring and over the summer.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Hopefully I want to whip these songs out and we
can discuss further, you know, some tours. I just did
a few performances for Ocean Song that just dropped in.
It was so fun doing acoustic cause I was like,
oh my gosh, girl, I forgot how good you've seen
because I don't know. I think this industry has made me,

(03:08):
you know, commercialize my voice so much, you know, being
coming from a girl group, I felt like I had
to fit in with the sound and if I wanted
to part, I had to dumb myself down so I
can squeeze myself in these pop records. But now I'm
having so much fun just rediscovering myself and bringing out
the best of me that I took away for so long.
So there's so much it's going to be so fun

(03:30):
this summer. Good for you.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Speaking of that girl group, the Fifth Harmony song All
in My Head has been huge on TikTok recently. What's
Up Surprise that song still resonates right now.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
That is my song.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
That is literally my favorite, one of my favorite Fifth
Harmony records.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
I thought that it was trending online.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
People were just going crazy, but I was like, wow,
work from Home. We can never run away from flex
is still like.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
All the rise. People are going crazy about it. But
it's just amazing just to see that.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
You know, our music still has an impact of the generation,
and it's just amazing to see.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I mean, we had bops. Okay, so very proud.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I'm super proud of that record, and I think it's
one of my favorites to like perform live with the girls.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
You you stay in touch with any of the girls
off and me, I'll see each other.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I do. I maybe my mom got sick. Not too
long ago. We got we got we got hit with
the curve ball.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
She we found out that she had cancer, so we're like,
wait what, so thank you and it was just so
beautiful to see, you know, the family, the family effect.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
You know we have with the girls.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
The they all reached out to me individually, every single
one of them, and it was so special. It just
felt like yesterday we were all together type of things.
So just to hear from them means a lot.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
And they be checking in on me here and there,
making sure everything's all right. So I love them. That's
so cool.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
You never know, maybe we get a low reunion one
of these days and see you all together.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Oh we're we're putting that the air hold on. Let
me drop my songs first and then we can just
there you go, there you go. Well, I'm proud of you.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Congratulations on everything, and listen to Ocean Song on iHeartRadio
or wherever you get new music. Donna, thanks so much
for hanging out. Hope to see you in person so much.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Definitely talk too. I'll get better and then I'm gonna
come there.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
You sound good, sounds good, Take.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Care, okay, thank you.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
