Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are fun with Mario, A little pet wl Mario
Lopez joining me right now. Musicians Kobe cal Lay and
Gavin de Gras. How you guys doing good?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
How are you great man? How you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'm well, always nice to see y'all.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
This is cool a bit at Mario. It has been
a minute. I keep up on social so it feels
like I'm not too far off, right, Yeah, right, this
is cool.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
You guys are doing a Christmas tour shows on the
East Coast and West Coast. What can fans expect when
they come out, because I'm assuming it's not only Christmas music,
might be mixing in some classics as well.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah, we're doing all the above Christmas songs solo together,
our own songs, our originals.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Together, exactly.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Yes, So we you know, Colby and I have been
friends for obviously a number of years now. Came up
around the same time, and she know she has her
own career, obviously at my own, but we you know,
we as soon as we met, we felt like we
made good music together. And we started writing together and
released a few songs together. And our most recent thing

(00:59):
is a Christmas tune that we're putting out. Let it snow,
and then we're going to do the Macy's Thanksgiving Day
Parade together as well, and it'll be a great opportunity
for us to have some fun and do something really
cool and traditional.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
You know, America.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
You know, what's the coldest you've ever performed in? Because
I've done the Macy's a couple of times, that's a
cold one. I always think about the performers because you know,
they get you out there early, and it's we're talking
like ten degrees sometimes and to be singing in that,
is that the coldest? Or do you what's the coldest
you've ever remember performing outside?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I think I sang in Norway at.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
The novel that sounds free damn cold.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
That was very, very cold. But I'd say the Thanksgiving
Day parade is next.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Wow cold, that's cold for me.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
It was it was a New Year's Day.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I played the the Winter Classic and I think we're
in Chicago. It was January one, super early.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
No, No, that's next level. Should do this?

Speaker 4 (02:00):
So rough, bad hangover?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I mean, so many things happening at once. You know,
I couldn't.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Feel little piano because my fingers froat.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I can't even exact Chicago in January. You knid, Eve
know it doesn't get cold enough.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
We're gonna have little heat warmers and we'll have coats
on it, like right until we perform. I think we
would like take our coats off and brave the cold.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Maybe, Oh you're gonna do that?

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Maybe I love that. Gavin just found out about the
heat warmers.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, yeah, you're gonna be fine. You're gonna be fine
if you can handle Chicago and Colby. I know you
released a new album about two months ago now called
This Time Around, and you reimagine a bunch of a
bunch of songs with a lot of country artists.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
What inspired you to kind of take that approach?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
You know, I wanted to redo a lot of my
old songs. I feel like I sing them differently now
at this age, at this time in my life. I
love country music now, like certain elements of it especially,
and I wanted to make it a duet project, which
this guy is also on it. We did a cover
of post Malone Circles.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, which we do to Get five too.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
It's really fun. That's recorded it here in Nashville, and yeah,
it's h It's been a fun fault recording that record.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
And it's a beautiful record.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
It is a Christmas song, beautiful record, beautiful.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
That's awesome man and Gavin. I know you just announced
your heading out on tour next summer. What what's the
typical day on tour look like for you?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Oh? Me? Uh, always a late morning. I try to
get up super late morning, somewhere in the noontime because
that's the right time for me. Wow, because I'm a
night owl. I can't turn it off. I don't know why. Uh.
And then I'll drink about an eight ball's worth of coffee. Uh,
and then just get you know, just get wired. And

(03:42):
then I'll go to occasionally sound check, make sure that
I remember all the words and uh. And then I'll
go disagree with my dog because my wherever he is,
my dog is, you know, pretty pretty needy. And uh,
you know, he starts rattling around on stage. He'll he'll
he'll start disturbing the peace.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Last time I saw you, you had that dog with you.
I mean, man, you're you're pretty loyal with that don buddy.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Oh Man, you're kidding me.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
He goes everywhere with him.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
BFFs, man, BFFs.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
You know, that's awesome, good Mario.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I have to say I love going on Instagram and
seeing your dances with your family. It's my favorite thing.
You guys are the cutest ever. So it's your great
dancers too.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Oh thank you.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
My daughter she was a scholding me last night, trying
to teach me this new one. I'm not getting it
quick enough, but yeah, I'll take it as long as
I can get it, because there's gonna come a point
where they'll be like, all right, dad, beat.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
It, get out of here.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
You're moving good, bro.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
So do you think how do you think you're staying fit? Man?
More the dancing and more the uh more the training
with the boxing and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
All the above, man. But I'm just getting back into it.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
I was coming off of an injury, so I just
got back to boxing and y jitsu and we tie,
so I'm all, I'm all about it. So, you know,
try trying to keep that old man out and keep
it keep fighting right there.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Absolutely. I I think it's so cool you guys are
doing the show.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
I'd love to check it out, and everyone listen, be
sure to pick up your tickets to the Colby Cala.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
