and Lizzie Mathis.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
How are you, ladies?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Great, Nice to see you.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I saw y'all not too long ago when you were
when you were promoting the show on on on my
show Access. And I love it that you all are
friends and the fact that you can do stuff together
and and and and also pursue a passion has got
to be like the coolest thing in the in the
in the world.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
This is season three.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
The name of the show, for those who may not
be familiar, is called Honest Reservations.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
It is out this week on.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
The Roku channel, Honest Renovation.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Did I say did I say? Did I say? When
I say something, reservations? He misspoke? Yeah, did I say
Honest Reservations. I was trying to He's actually trying to
lock down.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
He's reserving the time to sit down and watch the show.
Down your kids, All right, let me get this again.
This is Honest Renovations. Reservation were something going on in
my mind. It's on the Roku channel. How'd y'all get
into the the reno game here, not the reservation game,
(01:08):
the renovation game.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
I've always loved interior design, and since I was really young,
I was just always inspired by just making spaces beautiful.
And when during COVID, Lizzie and I we just renovated
and updated and made over many spaces from like we
sort of like created a content studio, so we had
(01:30):
to renovate that whole space, and then we did my parents' house,
two houses for them, and we were, yeah, we were
really inspired by just how dramatic a makeover or a
renovation can be, just with like paint and new furniture
and changing out the color palette and giving really functional organization,
(01:52):
organization and design.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
So we were like, gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
This would be cool to do a show where we
could just have fun, hangout and like help people.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
And You're right, the examples you just gave don't really
cost a lot of money and they can make a
huge difference. I'm sure people are learning a lot. How
do you find the home projects for the series.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Well, we cast the show, so we really like put
a lot of time into casting and making sure that
the families that we're choosing not only are really going
through transitions, but transitions that are relatable to a lot
of families. That's going to be a really big point
for us. And so once we lock that in, then
we're able to go. And the first time we see
the house in live and in person is the same
(02:35):
of what you're seeing us see. So we're making decisions
and kind of like looking at it, you know, in real.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Time, real time on the show.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
So we make sure that we cast the families.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I mean that.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I would say that's probably the biggest part and probably
the biggest differentiator in our show as a renovation show
versus others, is we really make it about the families
and you really feel connected to their stories and so
it's heartwarming, it's tender. But then you have the comedy
of just Lizzie and I. We crack on each other,
we're real friends, we have a good time, we're silly,
(03:07):
and so you get the mix of that in the
show and then of course a really satisfying before and after.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
That's fun. What a fun show?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
And when do you make the reservations later after we
wrapped the show, have a couple of margarita.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Do you have a favorite part of the house to renovate.
Is it always the kitchen or I love kitchens for
me the kitchen too, because I'd just be kicking in
the kitchen all day.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
I know.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
The kitchen for me is always the heart of the home.
But it's also like where I find my piece in
my column. So I'm like, if I can give that
to somebody else, I'm all about renovating that kitchen.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I love the kids' rooms.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Those are my favorites, just because you know, like you're
really kind of bringing a fantasy to life. Yeah, and
it's really fun because we could dream a little bit more.
We can do take a little bit more risks with kids.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
We have a lot of fun with the kids.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, it's more whimsy.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Yeah, imagine too. Sure you can personalize it and all that. Yeah,
I know that is fun. And how'd y'all meet again?
Originally our kids preschool school. I don't think we're sorry.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Wow, our kids pre school, we were like mom.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Friends, Wow. And the kids are whole now.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Thirteen, thirteen and fourtant heaven's about to be fourteen.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Fourteen, But you're old. You have an older one right too.
Seventeen Yeah, seventeen see my oldest about to turn fifteen.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
We're about to have this big kingsta and it's like, wow,
this last year, Oh my god, the kings is going to.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Be next excited. I know. I'm making her do a
dance with me.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
She got like all these dances with their friends, and
it's like a recital. I'm like, yo, we got it
at least like one slow dance with your dad. And
she says, all right, if we're gonna do a slow dance,
we're gonna do half slow dance and then it's gonna
like transition to Chris Brown.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
We can do something fast. And I said, all right,
so she's got it.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
I've seen you on TikTok Way to Dance.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Well, I said, all right, just come with the good coreo.
What you mean, I can't wait to day? Thanks? All
right now you got me all.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Anyways, Jessica, you got a new movie on the way
as well, called The Maserati The Brothers about I'm assuming
the brothers that created the car brand, right.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yeah, it's like the inspired by the original story and
yeah it's with Anthony Hawkins and and Cigarcia and al
Pacino and me. So we're the Americans that are in
with the like seven incredible up and coming Italian actors.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Oh that's awesome, what a cast. I'm definitely gonna check
that out. And Lizzie, I saw on your ig you're
quite the chef. The recipes look pretty amazing.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Next level, there is that something you want to really
lean into.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Could we see some sort of cooking show me?
Speaker 4 (05:50):
I think you definitely gonna see more cooking in the future.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
All right, all right, no.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
I mean it's always been a passion of mine to
like get in the kitchen cook, and so now it's
kind of fun because I'm able to do all the
recipes I was raised with. I'm able to like now
show them and obviously I do them for my kids
and tweak them and like freak them out.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
So it's cool. I love it. I've been getting down
in the kitchen lately too.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I'm very probably got to put together mark down to cook,
We got to make reservations, we got to renovation.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I could do all the above. All right, ladies, I
have a just one last question. I wanted you to
help me with a bit of advice. Tell me if
I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
My daughter, who's just about to turn fifteen, speaking of
Chris Brown wants to go to his concert. I love
me some Chris Brown, but it seems still a little
too racy for her. Do I let her go without me?
Speaker 3 (06:35):
No?
Speaker 4 (06:35):
No?
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Okay good, that's what I thought.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Okay good because she's like chat GPT all these speeches
that she's giving.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Me why she could should go.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
I love that though.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I love the dedication to the debate. She is like
the fairest bueler of that family. Yeah, she's really like
next level? What'd you say? I'm sorry themsel we can.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Send a security guard with her. You're like, great, then
all send a security guard with you. It's me and
they're more scared of the security guard with your guns.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Mario, I'm trying to go, but she's not trying to
hang with dad right at the she wants to turn up,
you know.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I love you want to go though, because Mario just
wants to go. He just wants to go to the show,
all right. See, I can better go to herself.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
It's not you doesn't want to go to like Olivia Rodrigo.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
That's funny because Olivia Rodrigo. I took her a few
years ago. That was actually her very first concert. I'm like, yo,
don't you want to see like the Descendants?
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But I'll let you go Dad, Chris bro Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
No, no, no, no, no, Chris Brown. Okay, good.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
