Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario a little bit. Maria Lopez joining
me now assumed the exotic bird from the Mass dancer
Jordan's sparks. How's it going a good? Tweet tweet tweet tweet.
You had some move to see what made you want
to do? Uh? What made you want to do the show? Um?
You know what. To be honest, it scared me, So
(00:21):
I wanted to prove to myself that I could do
things that scared me a little bit, and also show
my son that too, that if I can do it,
he can do it. Oh yeah, it's the best one.
You get to do stuff for your kids. And how
hot were you in that costume? You known what? I
was actually okay until we had to um when we
had to stand there after our perform. So we go
(00:42):
dance for like a minute and a half and then
have to stand there on stage, and the helmet on
the inside of the mass definitely gets tighter as your
head's throbbing from being so hot. But at the same time,
it was a blast. There are other costumes that looked
a lot more complicated than mine was, So I was
just really grateful that I was able to like move
my arms and and your final song choice was old
(01:05):
school Paula Abduel, So that must have been pretty nice
for you connecting with her on the show. It was,
it really was. I couldn't believe it. Actually, in rehearsals
they came up to me, We're like, hey, do you
know who the judges are? And not the time, I
didn't know, and um they told me and they were like,
oh yeah, and paul is going to be a part
of it. And I just sat back and was like,
I cannot believe. Thirteen years later, I'm again on a
(01:27):
reality competition show stage and she's again sitting on the
judge's panel across from me. So it was a really cool,
full circle moment. But there was also like a comfortability
in that as well, because she's always so kind. So
for me, I I had a really good time. But
I gotta imagine this time around, competition wise, it was
a little different than Idle. Right, the steaks weren't You
(01:48):
weren't as as taking I'm not that you weren't taken
too serious, but it's not as demanding in your focus, right, Yeah,
it's more about fun. Yeah, it's all about having a
good time. It's just a guessing game, Like it's nobody's
there to like really judge your form of dance, Like
they're not going to judge like your form was off,
Like that's not the point of the show at all.
And I think that was the other reason why it
was so fun, because there was just you. We just
(02:10):
got up there and had a good time. I literally
just got to dance on stage for five weeks as
a big bird, Like it was so fun. Can't that
the kids love it? And also the free there's a
freedom putting that mask on and being able to just
go because for me dance. I love to dance, but
it's not something I really incorporate on the professional side
(02:31):
of things, and so um to be able to do that,
I was like, I'm actually grateful that I have this
mask on right now because they can't see my face
and I can just do it, you know. And there
was a really lovely freedom in that. But at the
same time, it definitely prompted me to to look at
myself and go, why do I need this mask to
feel free enough to do this? You Also, on top
(02:52):
of it just being a lot of fun, I learned
a lot of stuff about myself too. Yeah, yeah, that's
a healthy exercise right there. Yeah, for sure, speaking of
professional outlooks that you've got a new single, you Still
Think of Me? What inspired this one? Yes, Well, I
mean you've seen me grow up in the public eye
for the last you know, thirteen years over that date,
(03:14):
and I've I've grown up in the public eye and
I've gone through a lot of public things, and um,
when I heard this song, it was called I Still
Think of You, and I was I was taken back
by the instrumental and the by the instrumental of the
track because it was so ethereal in a way and
so beautiful, like kind of transports you to a different
(03:36):
space and time. And normally my songs are you know,
they're they're full. There's a lot of background vocals, and
the track is really intens or it builds and there's
a lot of those high ablems that people are used
to hearing me singing, and this song stays in this
space and um, it's just really beautiful. So there's the
of course, it's reminiscing about hard times and tough things
(03:57):
and relationships, but there's a redemption it as well. It's
like after finally leaving you, I know, that you still
think of me and that's the t Yeah, that that's
that's a that's a nice piece of mind right there.
And is uh is this part of a new EP
or album or you just wanted to get it out. Well,
it's the first of many songs that I'm going to
drop this year that I'm very very very excited about. Um,
(04:19):
we may put some on an EP or made you
an album, I'm not sure, but I just want to
get all the music out, so I might put out
songs then maybe compile them all into like a package
deal something. Um, but I'm but I'm not sure, but
I know I have a lot, and I'm literally sitting
on this folder of songs and I'm just like, I
can't wait until they hear it, but I gotta, like,
you know, let it out piece by piece in due time.
(04:42):
In due time, I get it. And uh, I see
a tattoo on your wrist in the album art. What's
the significance with that? Oh? Well, you know what the
funny thing is. And I'm trying to get this removed
actually because I don't need this memory anymore. Really, it
goes along with the song in that way like you're
racing the memory. Wow. Okay, okay, so that's a powerful
(05:03):
statement right there. Who Now, I'm anxious to hear it
right there and the whole, the whole, the all the
songs when we get there. Um and how old your son? Now?
By the way, he is a little over two and
a half. He's gonna be three. It goes so fast.
It doesn't like people said that it went fast, but no,
that you just don't get it until you actually have them.
(05:24):
It's like hyper speed. It's crazy. I know you wanted
to slow down and kind of enjoy him like that
for at least the days are long but the years
are short. Has never been a more true statement. Do
you do you post about him on social media? Or
you keep him kind of out of it, or no,
I do I post about him on social media? But
it's like it's every once in a while I kind
of grapple with myself a little bit with it because
(05:46):
I'm like, I want do I want to share? Do
I want to share this? But at the same time,
he's so joyous and he brings so much light that like,
I just want people to be able to enjoy and
have a smile on their face, like he put the
spile on my face, you know. But I've definitely, I've
definitely started. Um. You know, I'm more conscious when I
when I post now. Whereas before it was like I'll
(06:08):
just post whatever about myself because it was me. But
since he's been born, it's definitely been more of a
conscious like, Okay, okay, we can post this picture, but
I'm not going to post everything about his life. I
want him to be able to be like, well, at
least everything isn't out there on the internet about me
when he gets older, you know what I mean. Well,
that's good. Good for you to share him though. That's nice.
That's nice. Um, all right, before I let you go
and put you on the spot, quick questions, quick answers. Okay, okay,
(06:31):
Netflix or streaming recommendation? I never do that. You never
watch Netflix or any streaming shows? Oh I thought you
said Netflix, they're streaming recommendations. Oh no, no, no, I'm sorry.
Which showed I should I should phrase that better? Actually,
which show do you recommend to watch? Right now? Oh? Okay, okay, okay, uh, Netflix,
(06:51):
let me think, or any streaming service or anyone okay,
vikings for sure? Everybody, I mean not everyone, because kids
probably shouldn't watch that. But as adults, Vikings is amazing.
I've been hearing all the awards for everything. Vikings Warriors
on HBO, Max is really good. Uh, your girl is
(07:11):
always amazing. That's on that's on Netflix. And then for me,
you've got a whole list that's good. Cousin and I
did a trash TV swap, and so she just I said,
if you watched Love Island, I'll watch The Bachelor. And
now I'm stuck and I can I watch it and
(07:33):
I look forward to and now committed. I have never
watched The Bachelor in the entirety that it's been on,
and now I'm into it and I'm talking to her
weekly about what's going on, and I'm just like, so funny.
God bless you for that. Um, all right, what's a
song that you wish you wrote? Oh, a song that
I wish I wrote? I would probably say Smile neck
(07:59):
n Coal. It's Michael Jackson's favorite song. Yeah, such a
good song. Celebrity crush, growing up, celebrity Brad Pitt. Okay,
that was all right. If you were an exotic bird,
what would you be and where would you migrate to?
If I was a bird. What would I good question? Um,
(08:25):
you know what I just I've just learned that rose
finches are a thing. They're like pink little finch birds.
I don't know where they live, but wherever they're at,
that's where i'd go. Okay, they sound like they're in
a nice, beautiful tropical place. And last question, what reality
competition are you taking over? Next? A good question? Um,
(08:48):
I don't know. Maybe I'll do Maybe I'll do like
Chopped or something I've always Hey, there you go. I
could beat the clock, you know, but it might stress
me out. I might be liminated that first round. Why
i'd vote for you? There. That's It's a nice check
up with you, Sweatie. Congrats on everything. Listen, you got
it my pleasure listen to you still think of me
on I Heart Radio or wherever you get music. Jordan,
