Speaker 1 (00:00):
Real fun with Mario Littpez Sobro Mariol Lopez joining right
now on Zoom actor Josh Dumel.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
My man, how you been?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
How you doing, Mario?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm good, I'm good. Where are you? Where are you
talking to me from?

Speaker 3 (00:13):
I'm in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Oh you're in LA the comfy confines of LA out
of Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Right last time you were.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
I just flew in Straight from the Woods two days ago.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I like it. I like it man.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Yeah, it's going to be back though.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I appreciate you checking in because I said, when you
get your new film out, or it's about to come out,
come and talk about it. London Calling is about to
hit theater September nineteenth.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
This one looks fun?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Man?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
What's this one about?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
You know? This is a movie with a director I
did another movie with called Bennett a few years ago,
and he was talking to me about this script for years,
and you know, he finally sends it over to me,
and I was like, why did you take three years
to send me this script? You know, I'm perfect for
this man. My vision isn't what he used to be.
I'm a terrible shot film father this and I'm custom

(01:03):
made for this character. So that was, you know, and
I just loved the sort of throwback nostalgic nature of
the buddy cop thing that this is. But it's about
a hitman who has bit past his prime, has lost
his step, and is forced out of London after he
shoots the wrong person to relocate in LA and is
working for this low rent mob boss played by Rick Hoffman,

(01:26):
and in return for being able to go back and
getting security to go see his son in London. Yeah,
he has to take Rick's son on a hit. Of course, goes.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Terribly wrong, and it takes place in La.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Well, it starts in London and then we end up
a year later in LA but you know, nothing shoots
in LA anymore. So we shot it in Cape Town.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Oh god, oh wow. Okay, your co star Jeremy Ray Taylor.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
A lot of people probably remember from the IT movies.
H Oh yeah, you kind of take on a father
son roll with him in the film, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah, that's That's one of the parts I really loved
in the script is that you know, my character has
hasn't measured up as a father and and realizes this
as he spends this time with this kid on this
during this this this time there on this job, and so,
you know, as reluctant as he is to you know,

(02:20):
take this kid with him and toughen him up as
his father wants me to do, he really sort of
realizes by looking at this kid that he's he needs
to make things right with his own kid. There you go.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I like that, man, I like that.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
I also saw in your ig you were wrapping up
the editing on your new movie Preschool. Yep, you have
a you have a release date on that yet.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
So we just I just literally delivered it. Finally. That's
a movie that I directed in London call called Preschool,
and yeah, it's it's it's so fun man. It's about
two dads who are fighting the kid into the last
spot in the super high end pretentious preschool, and uh,
they will sabotage and undermine each other until they win,
and it's fun. Kind of went through I think we

(03:00):
could relate in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I was just gonna say, I just kind of went
through that with my daughter and this all girls Catholics.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah. My wife came home yesterday and I was like,
oh my god, we got into this. It was pre school.
I was like, I would hope. So, I mean, what
are the requirement right exactly months?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
By the way, it's a big hustle too.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Would they charge at these damp I mean they're learning
to color, barely to read. You can't be charging that
much that it's a it's a big hustle out there, and.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
There's there's no like, there's no like applying to these schools.
They just check to see if you can, if the
check's gonna.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Clear, Yeah, you're good, You're good, Josh, this one I
really want to see this movie that you're a part of,
called Not Without Hope about those NFL players that were
in the boating accident, because I remember seeing was the
Real Sport episode about.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
That and I left such an impact. I was, I
was that was incredible. Man, I'm glad this.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Is uh, this is being made into a movie. That
must have been pretty intense or how was that? How
was that experience?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
It was? We shot that in Malta. Joe Carnahan directed that.
He's awesome dude. I really loved working with him and
we just you know, we had a I was only
there for about a week and a half, but it
was an intense week and a half and it is
a true story. Yeah, so you know, I guess happy

(04:15):
ish ending, but you know they told it as realistically
as it happened. So yeah, I'm excited for that one
to come out.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, me too. That's gonna be really cool.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And finally, you got another flick coming out next year
called The Neglected, about a serial killer.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Well, we're going through all of them, were going through,
were going through the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Man, Maybe I need to be home spending more time
with my kids.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, or bring them along. No, it's a hell. The
space is healthy. I always tell my wife, the space
is healthy.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
I remember I talked to Dylan Sprousse about this one.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I think this last week too. What can you tell
me about it?

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yeah? David Lipper directed. It was a This is one
of the darker movies that I've done. I loved like
it was just one of those that you literally sit
on the edge of your seat the whole time because
it all happens within a ten hour period. Oh that's cool,
desperately trying to find his kid before Sprouse's character, you know,

(05:07):
ends him. So it was. It was one of those
sort of edge your seat type movies that I hadn't
done so it was it was a fun It was
a really fun movie that we shot that in Mississippi.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Nice all over the place. Football season about to kick off,
of course. How you feeling about your Vikings this year?

Speaker 3 (05:25):
I feel good. I feel really good. I like you're
like me.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Every year I feel good.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
As a Vikings fan, it's always this is our year,
this is our year, our year. But I do I
do feel like last year none of us thought we
had a shot, and then you know we Darnold comes
through and plays like a hero and we think we're
going to win the super Bowl. Of course, they'll find
a new way to break our hearts over year. But
I do think that this year, with this defense, revamped

(05:52):
O line, justin Jefferson and Addison and Hawkinson, we got
all the weapons on offense. The big question mark is
JJ McCarthy. I think he's going to be good. Yeah,
I know he's a winner, and I know he's got
O'Connell sort of mentoring him. So I think we have
a good shop. But that NFC North is tough.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
It's tough, man, It's you never know, I mean, it's
the NFL. It's not like uh, baseball. You have the perennial,
same team, it's got it sort of winning it it.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Who's your team, Chargers. I'm the one Chargers fan. I'm
a Chargers fan.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
They got a nice they got a really I mean again,
you got you got Harba, you always got a chance,
and you got a great quarterback.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
We got a great quarterback. We got a great quarterback.
We got a nice little nucleus. A right tackle got
heard our Pro Bowl guys signed a big deal Slater
and he got hurt.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
But that's all right. We still got all So I'm
feeling good too. Feels good about this year. Every year.
I'm like your whole thing. But that's a tough division.
With the Chiefs and with the Raider.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I'm not better.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Denver is getting better.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Rad Yeah, they're all good. That is going to be
a tough one.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
You've been a biking stand your whole life, right, pretty.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I was also a Cowboys fan growing up.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Always been a well, well, how did up there?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I think I think that when I left home back
in ninety four, Oh so.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
You left before what was it ninety eight? My brother
in law played on that team, the NFC championship team
where they.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Won all those gamesteen and won and lost.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Your brother played on that.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Team, Yeah he was. He was defense highly wong, he
was me. Yeah, he was on the He was in the.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Vikings for six years and then went to play with
the Texans for four.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
So yeah, that was another heartbreaker.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
That was a heartbreaker. Anderson, I remember I was. I
was because I aimost following the Vikings all that time.
He remember he made every field gold. He hadn't missed
all Sea seasons. Is the one inside of it that I.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
I know, Okay, you remember, yeah, you know, it's It's
one of those things. But yeah, so I left. I
was a Cowboys fan and a Vikings fan, but when
I left home, that was like my connection to home
and that really became a big bikes fan.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, okay, good, I respect that.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
All right, brother, Hey, always good to see you and
listen everyone, please be sure to check out Josh in
the new movie London Calling, which is in theaters on
September nineteenth.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
All right, man, thanks for checking in next month.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
