Speaker 1 (00:00):
Real Fun with Mario. Little Bit Mario Lopez joinment Out
on Zoom from the new podcast Unpacking the Toolbox, a
Scandal rewatch actors Katie Lows and Gimo Diez. Welcome to show, guys,
are Mario. I love hello. I love that you're talking
to me from your closet. Katie, we just discussed that. Um, yes,

(00:23):
we actually had a conversation on my show all about this,
and I love that you guys are not only so
passionate but crack each other up. That's always the best
kind of friends. Scandal has been off the air for
a few years. Um, why we visit it now? Because
we have all these Gladiator amazing fans just out in
the ethers with no content and no material and nowhere

(00:44):
to gather. And it was the ten year anniversary since
the pilot aired, and I was like, I just want
to hang out Gearmo Diaz all the time. How can
we make this happen? Right? And if people don't realize
that the you know, the show, the show wasn't canceled.
It kind of you know, Shanda knew it was gonna end,
so you know, I think the gladiators and the fans

(01:07):
were still clamoring for more content. So I think this
is just the perfect, you know, place to do that
and go rewatched the show on Hulu and then listen
to our podcast. I'm packing the toolbox and you're gonna
get all the like behind the scene stories and just
you know, all the juicy stuff that happened while we
were shooting scandal. How's it been holding up so far?

(01:29):
On rewatch? Mario, You're not going to believe this. And
the only thing I was not stoked. I mean, it
was really soked to hang out with ge. I was
really stoked to like get back together with the Gladiators.
And also we're all such still great friends, the whole cast,
So I was like, yes, we're going to carry on
and Tony watching it on and Shannon rhymes on and

(01:49):
that's gonna be great. And I was like, m but
I have to go back and like watch myself. I'm
not so sure that's gonna sit well. And the shocker
of this whole experience has been that now G and
I are supervious ye show, Yeah, we love it. It's
so I mean, I don't want to look down conceded,

(02:12):
but it's still such a good show. Yeah, it's so good.
I'm watching all the things that are the rage right now,
everything being nominated, winning awards and this and everything and Scandal.
I mean, Olivia Pope is literally one of the greatest
female characters that has ever been on a show. And
the writing, I mean, Seana Rhymes is prolific for a reason.

(02:33):
And I think when we were shooting it, we were
just two in it. We were live tweeting every episode,
we were busy memorizing lines for the next day. And
this has really been a gift to just sort of
go back and watch it without, you know, any distraction.
I bet, I bet Shanda since you mentioned her, she
says that there there won't be a reboot, but could

(02:53):
you see a way to revisit some of these characters?
Have you thought about that creatively? Man? I think we
me and Kate always say we be so open to
a B six thirteen spinoff, just to the Spies, the Spies,
the Last Yeah, underground DC stuff where really illegal, bad
stuff goes on and how the country really runs totally,

(03:15):
but you know, we'd want Shanda to be involved. So
I don't know if we do that with without her, well,
you never know. She said, not that I was a
musical version. I have a musical version. Don't think that
would really Um, I'm not sure the material lends itself
to a musical. But hey, we could do a scripted
podcast of of b six thirteen, the spinoff there you go? Yeah, hey, game,

(03:40):
Well they're making they're making a sequel to have Baked.
Any chance we'll see your character again? No? No, I
heard I heard about that. I heard about that. I
think the only person that is returning is Rachel True,
who played a Mary Jane Mary Jane, but I will
I'm not going to be a part of that. No, okay, okay,
just curious. And uh, Katie, your last movie was a

(04:00):
hit for Hulu. Congrat Oh my god, thank you, thank
you very much. I shot that in Deluth, Minnesota. Are
you jealous? Wow? I've been there. I've been I've been
there too. You've been there. Wow. That's an interesting location. Wow.
It was amazing it actually, it was so cool. It

(04:25):
was such a bizarre. My husband Adam was shooting in
Budapest he's an actor also, and we flew from Budapest
to Duluth so I could shoot this movie. Um, Mary
Kisscamp And I was like, I don't think anyone in
the world has ever flown from Budapest to de Luth, Minnesota.
Took stremes. I agree, Life of an Actor right lamorous.

(04:45):
Let me tell you that's awesome. Well, you guys look
like having so much fun on the podcast. I'm sure
fans are really gonna enjoy it. Listen check out Unpacking
the Toolbox a Scandal, rewatch on iHeartRadio or wherever you
get your pods Katie yet Well, thanks so much for
hanging out I hope to see guys in person again soon.
Thank you so much. Thanks for having us you guys.
