Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez's every Mario Lopez is joining
me right now from the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
on Hulu. Layla Taylor, how are you, Layla?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm so good. How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'm well? Thank you? Congrats. Season three Secret Lives and
Mormon Wives premiere is this Thursday. For people who may
not be familiar with the show, how would you describe it?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Oh? My gosh, I say, moms who fight, moms who fight.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
But is everyone Mormon on the show, because I know
that's the silly question, being that it's Mormon wise, but
everyone is Mormon correct.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Everyone has a Mormon upbringing or has had some tie
within the church, but not everyone's still active.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Ah. Interesting. So that's why I'm surprised there's so much
drama because all the Mormon people that I've met very nice.
No low drama, Yeah, not the case here?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Right?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Are you involved in drama right now?

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I mean drama always seems to find us since m.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Okay, fair enough, And you're gonna be revealing your new
boyfriend this season?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Right? Well?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yes, okay? And is it true that you secretly join
the Mormon church when you were in high school?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I My dad was not super supportive of the church
for pretty valid reasons, but I just wasn't aware of them,
and it was just something that I really wanted for
myself at that point in my life. Everyone I knew
was Mormon was very normal to be Lds where I
grew up, and I felt like that's what was, you know,
the right way to live life.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
And I was like, Okay, well.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
If I can't do it, then I'm just gonna secretly
sneak it. And yeah, I got baptized with my mom's
consent because like one parent has to sign off on it,
and then I would just sneak to church on Sundays,
which is always really funny.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
You gotta do what's best for you. What do you
think are the biggest myths about Mormonism?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
M that we don't churn butter, we don't wear bonnets.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
That were like fun.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I mean, there's definitely some weird things with them the church,
for sure, but we're fun.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
We can have fun.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
You don't drink though, right, No.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
We're not sopposed to do, but I do.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Okay, those are jack Mormons. I think they go and
have you left the church, you're still with it?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I still have my records in the church.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
To formally leave the church, you have to submit a
letter to like the higher ups and stay your reason
why you're leaving.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
And I just don't want to do all of that.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
But I haven't been to church in probably like seven
or eight months, so I'm not active anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yet, got it. So it's a whole thing. And you
have kids, right what you have children?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah? I have two boys, two boys, four and three.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Oh wow, okay, yeah, that's a handful, right there? Are
they are they? Are they in the show as well?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Or no?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
So me and their dad decided before we even picked
up for season one to filming that we were just
going to kind of keep them out of this. I
stopped showing them on my social media to a couple
of months back. I think it's totally personal because I
know some of the women on the show do show
their kids.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I just this world's kind of.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Scary and if I want to be a part of it,
but the mean that they have to be, so I'm
just trying to protect them.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, no, good for you. Good for you. And then
is this your first season or have you been on
the show?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
No? I since season one, I've been.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Since season one, And are there little allegiances formed or
is everybody cool with each other or that's why there's.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
No I think everyone's relatively good right now.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I think the only person that's like on the outs
that like, I feel like, collectively as the whole, all
of us women could agree it is probably to me.
But I think everyone, to my knowledge is good at
the moment. Yeah, except for.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Her and she And which one is that one?

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Demi is the.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
One that's married to Brett. She was the one that
was like the vander pump Villa drama.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Oh got it? Okay? God? And then there isn't there
one that is a bachelorette right now?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yes? Taylor?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Taylor, So she's abouts right, and she's got kids too, right.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yes, she has three threies.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Oh, three babes. Oh you're asking the bachelor to take
on a lot right there? Yeah, I know that's a
package deal right there.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Boy?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Okay, is everybody married? Ye?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Everyone but me? Miranda and Taylor.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Oh you're no longer married?

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah? No. So I got divorced in season one.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I was in the process of my divorce that wasn't
shown on the show, but got it throughout season one.
I was going through my divorce and just recently got
it finalized.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
In May of this year. Congratulations, finally officially divorced.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
But yeah, okay, you happy?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Oh yeah, no, it we and him we got married
before or we got pregnant before we were married, so
we felt like, especially in the church, it's you're not
supposed to have sex before you're married. So we were like, hey,
we messed up one of the steps. Let's at least
do something right and get married. Looking back, we probably
just should have just stayed dating or maybe got engaged.
But yeah, I mean I got my second baby out
of it, which my babies are.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
My biggest blessing, so it happened for a reason.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
But yeah, it's hard when you're young. I'm trying to
figure all that stuff out exactly, But overall you're having
a good time with the show.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Yeah. No, this is such a surreal experience.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
I never thought this would be my life and sharing it,
and it's hard. There's definitely downsides to it. People say
comments all the time and comment on your looks and
your personality, and they're only seeing such small snippets of
things as well, so it's kind of hard when people
make very big judgments off of very little, but overall,
I'm able to give my kids an amazing life, and
I work with my best friends and I want to

(05:08):
change it for the world.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
That's good. Yeah, ignore those haters, that's all they got
time for, right And as far as the holidays, you
got plans this year for Thanksgiving for Christmas?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, I think I'm gonna be spending it with Mason,
my boyfriend, and his family, so I think that'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Oh, things are good? Then things are you found back quick?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
There? Le nice? No marriage though anytime soon? All right?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah, yeah, all right, you'd be smart about that. Well,
good luck. Hope to hopefully see you in person, and
everyone be sure to catch late the Taylor out in
season three of the Secret Lives of Mormon Lives on Hulu.
All Right, sweeie, thanks checking in, Thank you bite, Okay, fine,
now

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
