Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come on Mario a little bit. It's up you all.
Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom. Singer songwriter, Idle
winner Maddie Poppy, welcome back. Have you been. I'm good?
How about you? I'm doing well. Thank you? And as
we speak, you're in the middle of your acoustic Christmas tour.
Have you seen any snow out there? We saw a
lot of rain in Pittsburgh, but no snow yet. Okay, Okay,

(00:23):
I see you've got some Pittsburgh colors on right there,
so you're in the spirit, right, think about that. Yeah,
take it easy. I like you you Steelers fan over here. Okay,
how do you pick what songs are you gonna perform?
Or are they the ones just from your Christmas album? Well?
Last year I did mostly my Christmas album ones and
this year I expanded it a bit more. Um and yeah,

(00:46):
every every every cover that I'm doing is a Christmas song.
But I'm doing a lot of my own stuff too.
So do you find certain cities get more into Christmas
than others? That Pittsburgh was very into Christmas. There were
people in Santa hats and sweaters and stuff like that.
And I actually I thought before I went on this tour,

(01:06):
I was trying to find an outfit, and I thought,
I'm putting so much work into this outfit, why don't
I just like make it like ugly Christmas sweater themed,
you know, and everyone has to wear an ugly Christmas sweater.
Then make it so much easier. Yeah, I agree. Pizza
has got a lot of spirit, so I can see that. Um,
are you gonna be on the road for Christmas? What
are you planning down the road up until the twenty

(01:27):
three and then I get to go home for Christmas?
There you go, what are you planning to do? Just
chill for Christmas? Going back home? I'm going back home
seeing my parents and um, where's totally gonna chill and
probably sleep through the whole thing? Where? Iowa? Iowa? What part?
M hmmm, Yeah, you wrestled, that's right. I've been to Iowa. This,

(01:51):
we talked about this. Um, I'm from Waterloo sater Falls area. Okay,
Waterloo Theater Falls you I hadn't been there, been to
a city and yeah, there was an E R nurse
in Davenports, So there you go. That's awesome. Um, do
you have a gift from Christmas? Pass? That's especially memorable.

(02:13):
Mm hmm. You know what, Um, we do this. We
do a white elephant in my family. I think most
families do. But one year I found like this very lifelike,
um old woman doll. It stood like this tall and
it's very creepy, and she had a cookbook in her hands. Um.

(02:35):
I gave it to my grandpa and I think he
passed it now through his family, gave it to his brother,
and his brother gave it to somebody else. And I
haven't seen that old grandma for a while. But um,
that was my favorite thing that I ever brought to Christmas.
That's an airloom. Yeah, so so creepy. I love. I
love creepy gifts. Nice. Um is there a Christmas song

(02:56):
that you think deserves a little more love? Yes? I
think the Christmas song by Nat King Cole. You know Chestnuts,
the song ever? It is the song ever, but like
you don't hear it. I feel like you don't hear
it played that often. But that's such a good song. See.

(03:17):
I was going to go with Dominic, the Italian Christmas
donkey that needs a little bit more love. I think
you haven't heard that one. Um. It goes Truman Natali
and Chris Smiths donkey, it's cute, my kid, you don't
have kids. But it's a great song. Hey, Dominic, it's
a great song. You should google it afterwards. You should

(03:38):
incorporate it into your show. I'm telling you it's a
crowd pleaser. I think I'm gonna do that. I'm telling you,
Dominic it and you could be like, hey, Mario Lopez
told me this song watch is gonna bring the house down.
It will bring I mean justin people said, wow, Mario Lopez,
Like I told you to put a song in your sets.
How can you not? Right? That's what it might end
the show? Yeah, you know why to close it? Um?

(04:00):
What about New Year's Are you gonna be on the
road or do you have plans or do you what
do you like to do? I've got a New Year's
Eve show in Iowa with a symphony, which is um,
i've ever done anything like that, which I'm a little
nervous about because I um, I've never done it. But um,
that's gonna be a lot of fun. That is gonna
be a lot of fun and you get to be home.
That's awesome. That sounds very special. Do you do resolutions?

(04:23):
Or no, I mean, nobody sticks to resolution. It's like
everyone diet's the first two weeks and goes to the gym.
I mean the gym memberships, like the new members must
be off the chart for the first couple of weeks.
But no one sticks to him. And it's like yeah,
but secretly, like I do, like I do think like,

(04:44):
oh no, that it's gonna it's gonna be my year,
you know, but I don't stay it out loud. I
guess I just did. But yeah, you know, most people
have good intentions, but it's the discipline and the consistency,
you know. Being Catholic, I try to make a resolution
every week. You get to start over, which is good
for me. But I'm pretty disciplined though, and pretty consistent
with stuff because then I get I have guilt if

(05:07):
not right, so it depends. I think if you wrestle
with guilt, then that will help you be more consistent
and whatever. Your goals are, very true, very true. Well,
it's so nice to talk to you. Congratulations on all
these great shows you've got coming up. Go to on
with Mario dot com for Maddie's tickets and tour dates.
Thanks so much for checking in. And stay safe on
the road. Travel safe. Yeah, good to see you again.

(05:29):
Thanks for having me. Okay, you too, sweetie. Take care
with Mario litlepit.
