Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come on with Mario Lopez. It's up here on Mario
Lopez joining me now on Zoom. Singer, songwriter and Grammy
winning artist, the Lovely Meghan Trainer, welcome back. How are
you Megan? I'm so good And I got him at
six to work out just like it looks like you.
Oh my gosh, you look fantastic. Hair looks adorable. Um.
First of all, last time you were here, I remember

(00:21):
you were launching the podcast working on it. How's that?
How's that been going? Oh? We're so successful. Um No,
we're great and it's a it's a build, you know,
it's but it's great quality time with my brother and
we're recently just popping off. We had Britney Browski as
a guest on our last one. You need to come
to a guest please, I beg of you my play
and um we're like blown up on TikTok now with

(00:43):
our little clips. So it's a blast. Nice. I love
that you keep it in your family to working with
the brother. Um new album drops in October, my birthday month.
A nice little gift right there. Taking it back, what's
the significance of the title? Um, my song title like
literally my song title blew Up on TikTok Um and

(01:04):
it's seven years old, and it was like do appi?
So um, I thought like, let's take it back to
that old school sound. Let's bring back the doo wop.
And I always have my album start with T for
a Trainer for my family to be like family first,
so I thought taking it back and then someone interviewed me.
It was like, is that you taken back your power?
And I was like, yep, it is now, so I'm

(01:25):
also taking back my power. Good for you? Good for you? Well,
the first single is bad for me? Is this based
on real relationships in your life? Or yes? I didn't
know it would be the first single, so I got
really open and emotional with this one because it was
a real situation that happened where I had to write
a letter with my therapist to a family member and
I sent it and I got no response and it

(01:47):
was tough. And I wrote this song the next day,
and when we played like five songs for groups of people,
we noticed that this is the one that everyone was
crying over and everyone's like, oh, I have a family
member like that. Um. I didn't realize how relatable it
was until I leaked it on TikTok and every comment
was like I needed this years ago, or this is
my sister or this is my cousin. So um, I've

(02:10):
noticed that, like, oh that that's why they want this
as the first single, because it's like hitting everyone and
it's so important. Is there is there a chance the
letter got lost in the mail? No shot my guy,
noil or no it was a text? I think, yeah, okay,
those those don't get lost unfortunately, you know, oh no, yeah,

(02:30):
and you know, um I learned yesterday there's there's evidently
a new genre of music called sad girl pop. Oh yeah,
I'm like the playlist gal, I'm I mean all those
pop those playlists that are like sad emotional that's me. Now,
well that's what bad for me sounds like, would be
sad girl. I promise that the next single is like upbeat,

(02:52):
I Love Myself banger. I swear well. With the album
coming out, are you gonna be doing some touring to
support it? Yes, sir, um, I'm hopefully that we haven't
decided a day, but I would love to do it,
not in the hot summer, but earlier, like March, right,
very March, aple May that'd be my dream scenario. And yes,
I'm bringing my son and my husband and the whole family.

(03:13):
We're going to get a big bus. I love that.
I'm gonna get into that in a second. But but
what about collapse? Is there anything in the album that
you can tease as far as collapse? Nati Natasha? Because
I'm so cool. I got a song called Mama Want
a Mambo um and it is gorgeous. Our Tarl Sandoval
is playing trumpet on it, so it's iconic. Well that's awesome. Yeah,

(03:34):
it's very cool. It's a very fun. Gotta be a
fan favorite. Mama want to Mambo? Look out for that one.
Mama wont to Mama already, like it just off the
title right there? And how's Riley doing? He's so good
he can't see but now we can't. Just got glasses.
I know I saw that he got glasses. My ga,
who you were so sweet too? She loves you. She's

(03:56):
got glasses right and she's going through it right now.
She's got glasses, she's got braces. She's starting to break out.
It's that little awkward phase right there. She still looks adorable.
They need braces too, But yeah, he he was just
so happy. We had no idea. He couldn't see, and
the nutrition was like and the eye doctor was like,
he's not using that left eye, and I was like,

(04:17):
oh no, so he's doing great now. Oh that's great.
It's so much fun, isn't it. Yeah, it's great. He
discovered so many things and he is he too yet
he's one and a half. Okay, so the terrible twos
are coming. I'm not here yet. Oh my gosh. Let
me tell you some prepare yourself because it's it's a handful,
but it's so much fun. It just gets better. He

(04:39):
just like he hasn't spoken words yet. Like he's literally quiet.
He does sign language when he wants more, Yeah, say more,
but nothing. You know. It's funny because one of my
kids too, he was pretty quiet and then all of
a sudden, like around four and wouldn't shut up. So
sometimes just keep it on. You're not a lot of
boys that, yeah, a lot of boys take a long time.

(04:59):
And my my three or he just turned three. Same thing.
He talks a lot, but they're not worth I got
to you know what I mean. So he's very verbal,
but once in a while you hear a word Oh yeah,
I don't worry about it because you keep thinking stuff.
But no, no, no, it just it takes boys a while,
just like I didn't speak till I was eight. Yeah.
See look at Frasier and he's and he now he
won't shut up, so it it catches up. But you know,

(05:23):
I love you. I think you're awesome. Congratulations on everything
professionally and personally. I look forward to checking out the
album Taking It back Drops October twenty one, Megan, thanks
so much for hanging out. I love you. Thanks you're
having me on with Mario Lopez
