Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is on with Mario Lopez. So if you're Alla
Mario Lopez joining me down studio from Jersey Shore, Family Vacation,
my girl in the copa lazy, how you doing a
case of course in the house in the house. So
congrats on the show. Thank you setting ratings records for him. Yeah,
we literally just got the news yesterday that we um

(00:22):
with DVR included we got ten million unique viewers. Look
at that, which is insane. So a second season in
the works. Were you surprised at the reaction and how
big it's been coming back or how did you think it?
I mean yes and no, because basically the fans brought
us back. So that's why MTV was like, all right,
let's do this, and plus like all the old childs

(00:42):
are coming back, you know, like the throwbacks of Roseanne,
Will and Grace. Um. So we were just yeah, we
were excited at the opportunity and the fans really killed
it for us. How we know how you've changed and
how some of the group members have changed, But what's
been what was the biggest change in your from your
fellow cast mates? Um, I would just say overall, Mike.

(01:05):
I think Mike has changed the most because you know,
he used to be on drugs um and be an
asshole and start drama and now he's like the situation
actually plaint fully intended. He's like we call him the inspiration.
Now he's always so positive, like yeah and giving us
advice and just he's overall just like a really good guy.

(01:25):
But he's still be fine. Um, yeah, he found Jesus
and he needed Jesus. So okay from the situation to
the inspiration, but he still causes drama, so he still
did his job. And was there any hesitation on your
part to take partn this? I think the only concern
was not seeing my family for a while. UM, so

(01:48):
definitely had mom guilt because I didn't see the kids
for like two weeks and then I went home for
two days then left again for another two weeks. So
not being with the family and having those priorities really
really messed me out. And for those who miss did
what essentially is the premise or how did you guys reunite?
What's the plot line if you will? Um, basically just

(02:09):
escaping our lives. It's being moms and wives, um and
just going and letting loose and you know, being degenerates again,
so your party and again were getting that. Yes, which,
by the way, ironically, I think it's important to kind
of let lose. I always say that, right, you got
to check out drink all the time. Yeah, so you

(02:29):
get it. I totally get it. I'm with you on that.
How are the kids, by the way, the kids are awesome?
How old now? Laurenzo's five and g of honest three? Yeah,
and I want more you probably July August. Okay, go
for it. Yeah, I'm ready. And you made some headlines
recently for saying you only made two a week on
the original Jersey Shore. What was that it? Yeah, because

(02:52):
it was free, so you know, us little kids were like, oh,
we just want to be on TV. Um, so MTV
didn't pay ass that but the T shirt shop then yeah,
so he would give us two hundred bucks a week,
which was like amazing for me, you know, college student,
Oh my god, two hundred bucks a week, I'm not
really doing anything. It was awesome. You put in a perspective. Yeah,
Now we're just talking about Mike, who is now the inspiration.

(03:15):
Yet he's about to be sentenced for tax evasion. Do
you know he's feeling about all that. Surprisingly, he's very positive.
He's like, you know, God's gonna give me what I
deserve and you know it is what it is. Yeah, me,
and I'd be like, oh my god, freaking out. He's
so positive, it's crazy. He's the inspiration. Yes. And what
about j Wow? Because Jenny was here not that long ago.

(03:36):
She says she lived in the wilderness. Have you have
you visited her? That visited her there? Yeah? She said
she was really off the grid. Yeah. Yeah. So she
got a house in Main because that's where Roger's from.
So it's kind of like your bunker if you know,
ship goes south because it could right now in this country. Um,
and she has a bunker. She's got a bunker. And
she said I can come. So you're all dead but

(03:57):
we're alive. Good. Good. So the kids being now, uh,
five and three, what are they into? What do you
have them in classes? Or day do they? Lorenzo's in kindergarten.
He wants to start up karate, So that's good. And
then I'm waiting till Giovanna is four. She wants to
do cheerleading. Okay, yes, okay, so exciting. And do they
watch you on TV? At all yes, So I let

(04:18):
them watch the first episode, but just the beginning, like
our credits of us saying hi, and then I turned
it off because I don't want them seeing that. Yeah,
I'm not ready for that. But my son was like, Mommy,
how do you get in the TV? Do you just
like jump in or do you have to punch it
and then crawl in? I was like, yeah, that one.
But they were so cute. They were like cheering me on.
They're like, Mommy, that's great, it's good. So I'm glad

(04:39):
you're having fun. Yeah, and you went back to the
same where'd you go back specifically in Jersey to shoot it?
We went to Miami if you were in Miami. So
we went to Miami because they wanted to shoot in
February and in Jersey it's like still snowy and grows,
there's no one down the shore. So we went to
Miami South Beach, which is so funny. Yeah, that is
a lot of fun. And would the second season take
place there? Would you possibly? We have no idea. We're hoping, um,

(05:03):
it'll be in Jersey, but we wanted to be a
different format because I can't leave the kids like that
ever again. I won't do it like I'll be like
I'm out. Yeah, oh you're a hot mess. So I
think we're gonna do um like a housewife's type theme
where we filmed like four days a week. Um, go
home and just be normal and you know that that
type of format. Good good, Okay, looking forward to or

(05:24):
you can just bring the kids and have a party
with you. No, I need my time, right, Yeah, that's
in it. Yeah, I'm gonna put you on the spot.
Quick questions, quick answers, all right, current song of session song? Um, anything,
cardi b Okay, Last movie you saw in theaters? I
don't even know when's the last time into the movies?
Probably Coco? Yeah, okay, that was even laced celebrity crush

(05:47):
growing up from Idle Hands. Casper, well he was Casper two,
he was remember that name, I don't remember. Okay, from
yeah he tweets was in Final Destination as well. Yeah,
you're apparently that was your celebrity crust. All those movies.
All those movies were like aimed at teenagers. When I
was a teenager. Oh you're older than me, seven, thank you,

(06:10):
calm down, Frasier, your kids favored foods, Mac and cheese
and pizza the worst. That right, But when don't you
go at any restaurant kids, menus are the same. They're
gonna have mac and cheese, pizza, grilled cheese, grilled cheese, chicken,
chicken tenders, and spaghetti. Right. That's it. What would you
want to tell Season one? Snooky? Now, keep drinking, really

(06:36):
enjoy your life. Yeah that want you have no regrets later?
I mean I do, But if I told myself to
not do that, then I could possibly not have met Gianni.
I believe in the butterfly effect, so keep doing it,
all right, So I appreciate that. Well. Jersey Short Family
Vacation airs Thursdays on MTV Jursday's Jersdays and you can

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
