Speaker 1 (00:00):
On with Mario Lopez Ro Mario Lopez joining me now
on Zoom.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
The directors of the new movie am I Okay, comic
Tak Nataro, and actress Stephanie Allen.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
How y'all doing good, Thanks for having us, Thank you
for taking the time. Congratulations on the film. Tell us
about the premise.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Well, it's a friendship story, and it's a coming out story,
and it's a finding yourself later in life coming of
age story as well.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Oh I like that being a man that's now hitting
a certain age, I feel like you do discover a
lot about yourself and you know what works and and
what you just want to be happy at the end
of the day. So yeah, I'm interested in this now.
I know you've each directed separately in the past. What
inspired you to collaborate behind the camera on this project
and was the process which you thought it would be.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Well, I mean we've done so much together between acting
and writing, producing all sorts of things, and when this
project came along, I think it really spoke to us
just I think specifically Stephanie connected with the story, and
I would say there wasn't a huge surprise in working

(01:19):
together just because we've worked so much on different things,
and I guess I'm surprised that we continue to working
together not have an issue. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, Well that's the thing A lot of people say,
working with your significant other isn't always easy. Ironically, you
just saw me with my wife right here, because she
works with me on this radio show and we seem
to have a pretty good balance that hasn't thrown a
monkey wrench or anything yet.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
How do you create a balance between working on.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
I think it's all really fluid for us. We met
working on a film Lake Bells in a World, and
we've said it's worked together pretty regularly, and I feel
like it kind of all blends into each other.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Nice. Yeah. Dakota Johnson's got a lot of praise. What
did she bring to the character of Lucy?

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Oh my god, she's so great in this film. I
feel like, I mean, I always say as cool as
Dakota is, Uh, she surprisingly has a bit of an
awkward way about her at times, and I feel like
this character really calls for that or called for that,

(02:38):
and Dakota, I just she nailed it. That the It's
such a beautiful performance and mixed in with some awkwardness.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Nice sounds like we'll get to see her in a
different light there.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Yeah, really funny in it.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah, and after this experience, would you consider directing together
again or was it a one off?

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Well, it's a one off because I've found that I'm
actually not interested in directing anymore. Yeah, I retired.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
You got to check it off the boot list, there
you go.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was a true joy
to watch Stephanie. And you know, she has so many
projects that she has written and is teed up for
her to direct, and I'm just I'm excited to watch
her do it because truly, being on set with her,
I was like, Okay, she's a director. She is a

(03:33):
full blown director, and it's very fun.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
I get it. Hey, that's the ballance that I was
talking about right there. And I know you have two sons, right,
what are the ages and what are they getting to do?

Speaker 4 (03:46):
They're eight, they're fraternal twins, and we're neck deep in
their travel baseball tournaments.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Oh yeah, that takes a toll.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Yeah, very different world it is.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
That's a tedious role right there, much like being on
a film set. A lot of waiting, a lot of waiting,
right there well, congratulations on everything. Am I Okay is
streaming now on Max Tig Stephanie.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Thanks so much, trying out, thanks for having you, got it.
Take care of me. I'm with Mario Lopez
