Speaker 1 (00:11):
You're listening to the Buck Sexton Show podcast. Make sure
you subscribe to the podcast on the iHeartRadio app or
wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to the Buck Brief.
We have a House bill to prevent a government shutdown
to continue funding out the government with the new speaker.
Meet the new speaker. Is he the same as the
old speaker? Pretty much? We'll discuss that. Plus, Eric Adams
(00:35):
in New York City is telling parents that they may
have to volunteer for safety duty at schools because of
budget cuts, because there's billions of dollars going to migrants
who aren't supposed to be in the city in the
first place. That's what you get for being a sanctuary city.
And then Jeff Bezos with the cringiest photos of his
(00:59):
love affair with this woman Lauren Sanchez all over the place.
There's some life lessons that I see in all this.
You could be one of the richest men on the planet,
one of the most successful men of the planet, and
well you're still a guy at the end of the day,
and you still.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Have the same weaknesses and vanity and everything else.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
So we're gonna talk about all this, but let's start
because This is first and foremost but politics with the
House of Representatives working together. The new speaker Mike Johnson,
Mike Johnson who replaced Kevin McCarthy, he has come out
(01:39):
now and worked with the Democrats to fund the government
for a while. So you have people that are upset
about this because he did really what McCarthy did. He
parted with Democrats to pass funding bill, no spending cuts. Now,
I know what people are going to say, Oh, he
(02:00):
just got this budget. He just started in the job. Okay, okay,
here's the real prize. And by the way, I'm not
some big McCarthy guy. I was. If you listened to
the radio show today, we actually had on uh we
had on Congressman Burchett. Burchett I believe, who says that
(02:23):
he got elbowed in the ribs by McCarthy the Capitol.
That's not very nicer, elbowed in the kidney. Even I'm
not some McCarthy fan by any stretch. But the real
problem is this, the American people don't want spending cuts. Yeah,
I know, isn't that isn't that something You hear it
and you go, oh, buck, that's not true that there
are all these people who want spending cuts, they say
(02:44):
they do, but it's a lot like losing weight. You know,
I could have a six pack. I could, I could
get down to the ten percent or so body fat
that I would need to be able to show some
abdominal muscle. I am quite aways from that right now.
I could do it, and I want to do it.
I want to do it, but you know what I
(03:05):
don't want to do. Stop eating cookies a night while
I'm watching TV before I go to bed. What I
don't want to do. Make working out a bigger priority
than sleeping in sometimes. You know what I don't want
to do. Give up eating what I really want to
eat at a restaurant. And so I can tell you
until I am completely out of breath. Oh, I want
(03:26):
to lose weight, but I don't want to really, because
I'm not going to do the things necessary. The people
who say they want spending cuts, they say they want
spending cuts. Then you go, what can you cut? And
they say, oh, well you can't touch entitlements. That's not okay.
We paid into those, even though the system is a scam.
It's a Ponzi scheme. You take out more than you
pay in. At least most people do. So that's not good. Okay,
(03:51):
So then what are we allowed to cut funding to Ukraine?
All right? I mean a few billion. We're thirty three
trillion in the hole, so sure you want to cut
one hundred billion next year. I guess that would be
something we could do. It's not going to change anything.
You're noticing what I'm putting down here, noticing what we're
really seeing. I mean, what was the debt? Let's play
(04:13):
a little game. What was the national debt back in
twenty ten when the Tea Party was raging? Thirteen trillion?
Thirteen trillion? Now it is thirty three. So we had
big rallies and marches in the streets because people are
upset about government spending under Obama, as they should have
(04:35):
been at thirteen trillion. Now we're at thirty trillion. It's
kind of just like, what smoke them? If you got them?
You know, what are you gonna do? We're not going
to stop this. There's no will to stop this. Oh,
you say you want to raise the retirement age, people
will vote you out of office. You're going to do
means testing for medicare, people are going to vote you
out of office. You're going to do any of these things,
(04:59):
anything that would actually means testing for Social Security out
of office. That's the American people speaking. So you know,
we can play this game and everyone does of blaming,
Oh I want to cut the spending. I want to
cut the spending. At least now, no one takes the
government shutdown threats seriously, or we're gonna shut the government down.
We're gonna shut the No, no they're not. And if
(05:19):
they do, they're gonna do it for a couple of
days and then they're gonna wimp out and they're gonna say,
you know, this was a waste of our time.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Oh they won't say that, but that's what we'll say people.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
That are watching it. So, yeah, the new speaker just
work with Democrats to fund the government. Okay, he's new,
So next time he's really going to make a big stand. No,
not really, not really. So nothing really big is going
to get done this year anyway, because Democrats don't have
I mean, Republicans don't have the Senate. Democrats do, and
(05:50):
they don't have the White House. So expectations should be low.
All along. Lower your expectations. That should be the real,
the real political mantra we have in this country that
would help a lot. But in the meantime, I just
think we should be honest about the fact that we
don't really want We don't want the debt to be lower.
We do want better towels, however, and the new My

Eric Adams, who had his cell phone seized by the FBI, Okay,
when they're not busy harassing parents, you know, they're finding
(07:15):
ways for being at school board meetings stuff like that.
They find ways to, you know, be I don't know,
making sure that Eric Adams is not doing favors for
the government of Turkey or something. When they're not chasing
down J six protesters as though there have been laden
you know, the FBI is seizing Eric Adams his phone
(07:36):
to make sure that he didn't do a favor for
the Consulate of Turkey or something like that and got
some money for his campaign. Let's talk about this for
a second, shall we. Adams has said that here you go,
parents might have to volunteer to keep Big Apple schools
safe after hundreds of newly trained safety agents were cut
that it was quickly ripped by some parents who said,
(07:56):
it's not my job. According to The New York Post,
here we're gonna be leaning into parents and parent groups
to hear some volunteerism. We're gonna get crisis management team going.
We're gonna be straining at a very high level to
get this done correctly. Parents off at the idea, saying, quote,
it's not my job or any parents job to have
a patrol of the school. That's not why I'm sending
my job to school. Yeah, yeah, that's right, it's not
(08:17):
your job. But you know what happens when Democrat policies
result in billions and billions of dollars going to a
legal migrant to pay for their food, their housing, their schooling,
their clothing, everything. You know what happens. You have less
city services you pay And I lived in New York
City for many years and paid crazy taxes. You pay
state and city taxes in New York so that you're
(08:40):
supposed to have the excellent fire, excellent police, excellent sanitation,
school system all that and yeah, school safety that's got
to go. So the kids are going to be less
safe in school now. It seems I'm not sure how
effective this Programmerly is to begin with that, I don't
have to look into it, but asking parents to volunteer
(09:01):
to be could you imagine, you know, can you imagine
parents to volunteer.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Oh man, you know that would be interesting.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
I mean, my dad would have been a good security
guard back in the day. Those kids would the kids
would not have wont to step out of line. He
has two speeds, chill and Conan the Barbarian, So you know,
he would have been a good security guard for our purposes.
But this is what happens in a city that doesn't
doesn't privilege the rights and resources of its actual residents
(09:30):
from people who are taking advantage of the system. And
it already is New York City already for the people
who live there, has a massive welfare state, public housing,
all kinds of public services that are just paid for
by the taxpayer, and that burden is overwhelmingly on the
wealthiest New Yorkers. That's who actually pays the taxes. You'll
notice I live in Florida now because I got sick
of that rightly. So look, I often talk to you
(09:54):
about the chalk male vitality stack. I'm a huge fan
of the chalk products because if you're looking to improve
your strength, vitality and just no longer be feeling weak
and complace in the morning, the chalk mail vitality stacks
way to go. I'm just gonna I just tried Chad Mode,
which is available at chalk dot com, which is their
(10:14):
new pre workout, And I'm telling you, I'm I'm I
don't know how to say this other than to be
a straightforward. Is the best pre workout I've ever had.
It is absolutely phenomenal. It is. It is all good stuff,
all natural stuff. Puts everything in it. Everything that is
in this pre workout you can see right there. A
lot of them kind of hide and they don't really
tell you everything that's in it. There's no trash, you know,
(10:37):
there's no weird chemicals. You have no idea what they are.
It's good things, good stuff that you need in there,
the right kind of ingredients. And I had a great
workout this morning and I like it. It's kind of
low sugar. It's just maple sugar crystals is what they have.
It doesn't have a lot of sugar in it, which
is great. It's it's low calorie and so it's not
(10:58):
super sweet, and so you just put it in. I
just put it in a big glass of water and
just pounded it. But I'm telling you it's the best
pre workout. And if you just need energy for the day.
You can do this in place of that second or
third cup of coffee. I would do this and not
have coffee if I were you see how much it
affects you. First, But Chalk dot com choq dot com,
(11:20):
get the chad Mode pre workout. Carrie loves it. I
love it. Use promo code buck for thirty five percent
off any Chalk subscription for life. That's chalkcchoq dot com
promo code buck for thirty five percent off. H do
the do the Male Vitality Stack if you want to
really do kind of an overhaul of you know, energy, health, vitality.
But I'm telling you also get that chad Mode pre
(11:41):
workout at choq dot com.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Use promo code buck. You will be so happy that
you did so.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Yeah, I mean that's I think it's important. I just
I think if you have the energy for your workout,
you're going to be in a better position, You're gonna
feel better, You're gonna get more out of it, You're
gonna be very happy that you did. And you know,
I was talking today. It's interesting. I was talking today
to Clay about the situation of Netflix having Denzel Washington,
(12:15):
an actor who I think is a phenomenal talent. I mean,
he's clearly one of the best actors around on the
scene playing Hannibal, And you know, I kind of I
have multiple multiple minds about this, multiple feelings about this. Wait,
I think I changed topics on you. By the way,
what was what was the other thing? Oh? Should we
do Hannibal played by Dennis Denzel rather Denzel Washington? Or
(12:39):
should we do uh Jeff Bezos? I tease Jeff Bezos,
So we'll talk Jeff Bezos. Maybe I'll do a Hannibal
a movie on Netflix, because that's it. I have Livy's
I was given in the fourth grade. I read it
actually won a history contest, then gave me vy in
a history of the War with Hannibal. I'm actually looking
(13:00):
at it right now, The War with Hannibal Livy on
my bookshelf, and it's a fascinating period. So I hope
it's a really good Netflix series or whatever they're gonna
do with it. But this there's this headline on the
Daily Mail, tacky, tasteless and a vanity that's out of
this world. Maureen Callahan Skewers Vogue, New pin Ups, Lauren
(13:21):
Sanchez and Jeff Bezos as intergalactic egos. You can't read
their room. So everyone's been sending me this Jeff Bezos
photo where he's got like a cowboy hat on, and
Lauren Sanchez is you know, very kind of up close
and snuggled on to him, and he's in some kind
of a I don't know, outdoorsy vehicle. And then there's
just other things. They did, this whole series of photographs,
(13:47):
you know, and hern a bikini and him leading in
for it and all this stuff. Look, the stuff that
affects the mail psyche as I get older, I'm just
gonna say, what's on, am I? This stuff that affects
the mail psyche affects every male psyche in different you know,
in different ways, but everyone's got the same stuff. Ever,
every guy's got there, they're insecurity, he's got their parts
(14:12):
of them that they wish they could change. And you know,
I think when you're almost the richest man on the planet,
money no longer has any meaning to you. Like money
doesn't doesn't get you excited or anything like that. Everyone
basically kisses up to you all the time. You have
endless access and endless options, you know, with all of
that going on. What is something that gets you excited?
(14:35):
You know, for some people it's serving others. For some people,
it's doing good work. For some people, it's the recognition
that our time is limited and the more just kindness
and helpfulness and positivity and building and you know, look,
and to Jeff Bezos' credit, he's built a trillion dollar company.
I mean, you know you can't take that away from him.
(14:56):
But I'm just saying people get value and they feel
their days are worthwhile because of those things. But also,
you know, a guys, guys out there, you know, whether
you're twenty five or fifty five, you want to feel
like you're successful with you know, in love, you know,
(15:17):
successful with women or a woman, your woman, you know,
you're you're forever person in this case, his second wife.
But and I just think that it's it's at some
level we should all maybe take heart from knowing that
you can be the richest guy in the world and
you still just want to be dating some woman who
(15:37):
looks good in a bikini because you didn't have that
in your twenties or whatever, you know what I mean.
Like he was kind of the nerd in high school.
I would assume. And you know, now you go back
and look at old Jeff Bezels currently on plenty of
TRT and everything else. You know, ar it looks like
a superhero. But Jeff Bezos back in the day, the
guy's a nerd. His first wife was actually quite pretty.
(15:59):
But you know, he's successful. God, and I'm talking about
even like high school age, college age. I don't think
he got the girl. And I think that just set
a something in his brain where you know, he just
wants that, you know, sort of alpha female, you know,
beauty queen thing if if that makes sense, and he
wants to be surrounded, but that he wants to be
(16:19):
with that person. So guys are all guys, no matter
how rich they are, whether you're sweeping streets or you're
the CEO of Amazon, guys still have the same A
lot of them, A lot of them, not all of them,
of course, have the same challenges insecurities and other things.
But these photos are very cringey. I will say that,
you know, something really important that I want to remind
(16:41):
you of is the Tunnel the Towers Foundation. They do
such incredible work. These are heroes or these heroes who
